Interesting concept. Don't know how cost effective it will turn out to be.

The company offers packages for Facebook, the world's number one social networking site, that start at 1,000 friends up to 10,000 friends at costs ranging from $177 to $1,167.

"All we do is send them a welcome message or friend request from the client. If they decide to go ahead and add that person as a friend or a fan then they will; if not, then they won't," Hill told Australian media.

So basically they're going to spam you around until 1,000 people decide to add you.. hmm.. spammy?

Yeah, that doesn't sound too good. Interested to know if anyone has had any luck with that.

And here I've been friending people for free. Can I start charging for my SN friendship?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Last year I charged $10.00 in a eBay auction to follow me on Twitter. I think we got about 12 people pay to follow me!

Of course they were all pretty much my buddies tagging along for the ride and the idiocy of the auction. But it did attract traffic and a few hundred legit new Twitter friends.

For $10.00 (or less, it's negotiable) I WON'T follow you.

This offer is open to all!

For $100, I'll let you not follow me.

Apparently this works offline, too, but the recurring billing feature is supposed to be a killer.

Personally, I prefer beer as a medium of social exchange.

Apparently, after some research usocial repositioned itself as a social media ad firm that sells friends/followers. Before this though, they were a social bookmarking service, experience with that service was poor, lack of communication, however, I may test their new first page listings on Digg.

A website of mine did reach first page listing on Digg once, organically, and the result was a day of 12,000 uniques that converted into my list at .03%, resulting in 330 or so opt-ins, which then convert on an average 4-5% to profit.

Point being, $197 for 330 opt-ins ( 12,000 unqiues or so) , based on my past experience being in that position is a good reasonable price and media buy. Your doing better then adwords, you end up paying $1.20-$1.60 per opt-in with this type of media buy, and if you have a strong funnel it could be a decent return.

I'll test it out with a new site and let people know the results.

If the first-page listings are solid, I'll do a facebook dan campaign.

The Twitter Followers is stupid, you have so much more access with Facebook Fans/Friends, including Messaging, Broadcasting, Video, Photos, Sub Groups, etc

Twiiter you can only send 145 characters to them, and with Facebook's retention rate per page extremely high compared to Twitter, buying followers wouldn't be smart.
