Campaign Targeting Tourists in the City

Hi, I will be launching an e-shop tomorrow that sells tickets to a local tourist attraction. I understand that now is not the best time, as tourism numbers are close to 0, but when this pandemic situation ends I would like to start a online campaign.

I plan to do this online campaign for tourists that are already in the city. I don't plan to promote to people that may come to the city.

Any ideas?

    I would start with Facebook for sure, because you can target a location. Specifically those that are there at the time the ad is running. Be it those that live there or those that are there on "vacation" etc. you can learn more here: https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/...re-engagement/

    As previously said Google Ads. Facebook ads also give you the unique targeting ability you're looking for.

    What may be interesting, is trying this on less-used ad platforms like Snapchat maybe?

    You're in luck, the best place to promote an opening tourism related website for locals IS NOT ONLINE!

    It's in the local newspapers & shoppers and area local news TV and radio.

    A simple press release or phone call to the media with a focus on helping local tourist destinations will make an interesting angle that will be appealing.

    Tourist who are already on vacation are not of the mindset to search for a ticket source. If that have someplace they want to see, they'll call that specific destination or check the brochure racks at motels and restaurants.

    One of offline solutions is to contact local tourist boards that will put up your flyers, normally they do it for free, so your investment should be just printing them out.
    Online, depends what age group you plan to target, but from experience most of tourists that will want to get tickets online will be younger ones, and most of them are on Instagram so for sure some story ads would work

    Hi, I run a tourist attraction e-shop. It has organically around 2,000 visitors daily and sells tickets to an observation deck and accepts reservations for some restaurants. What should I also sell on there? I would like to have additional revenue streams on the e-hop. Any idea?

      What about a scavenger hunt of local sites? You might even be able to get a few other tourist businesses to help promote it if you put them on the location list.

    Hi Paulo,

    I'd definitely recommend going with Google Ads as their platform allows you to target potential customers who are in or regularly in your targeted locations (ultimately you can do the same with Facebook Ads).

    You can get really specific when it comes to what tickets you want to advertise and the keywords you rank for. If somebody searches for concert tickets in your city and you send them to a landing page that's about concert tickets - the conversion rate will be much higher than if you were to just target tourist tickets/vacations.

    If you have many different tickets, separate your Google Account into the same amount of campaigns/ad groups - this makes the navigation much easier and your targeting will be a lot better.

    Facebook ads is for sure the easiest to configure for people in a certain location and then you can narrow them down to interests that only apply to people from certain countries that you are targetting.
