Outsourcing

Hey Guys, I just had some work done to my website by a freelancer in India and now its time to pay and since I have never outsourced before I didnt realize that you cant get a paypal account in India...any suggestions on how to pay him?

I tried moneybookers and its gonna take a week to get verified..not gonna work...he needs to be paid by thursday...thanks for any help

    Are you sure with moneybookers?
    I had no issues with them and payments were instant with instant verification process. As soon as they confirmed the data I used to sign up with, and the credit card data, I was able to use the service.

        He usually gets paid through moneybookers...I had my credit card verified in less than 24 hours but for the address verification I have to wait for a letter in the mail...also what about the warning that says moneybookers does not support send money from us customers to international customers..so will it even work?

            Yea...well I should have asked myself but like I said first time outsourcing...live and learn..like a lot of stuff with IM!!!....he usually gets work from Odesk but he was a referral from a friend and I hired him personally...I guess maybe we could go through Odesk but he is saying they take 10%...if anyone has any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it...and thanks Tina!

              Hi Mike,

              I have to agree with what some of the other warriors have said. By right this person should be prepared to wait since he didn't specify the means of payment and to me paypal is generally the language of payment for most IM transactions these days, so if he wanted something else then he should have specified and not taken it for granted.

              That said, I know that isn't that helpful to you right now.

              How about you get someone else with a Moneybookers account to pay him. You pay them and they pay him. You said he was a recommendation then maybe the person who recommended him has an account and would be prepared to be the go between for this one off transaction. I think this is the best short term answer until you get the verification etc through.

              Alternatively, if he signs up with somewhere that will take less than the 10% odesk want to take i.e. scriptlance or maybe even elance, guru.com or rentacoder. He probably already has an account with at least one of these and I know scriptlance charges around 5%, not sure what the others charge.

              Lastly, you might just want to give paypal a quick call yourself just to double check the not allowing an Indian account thing. He is probably right, but maybe he has old information and as Tina suggested, perhaps he can actually open an account.

    If you need to get the funds to him quickly your best bet is xoom. If you pay by PayPal or credit/debit card (which is slightly dearer than a US bank account), and he picks up the money himself, he should have it within one business day.

    Hi

    Try Western Union Or Moneygram. Western Union is Available in Most Countries and the money is transfered instantly. In some countries they require a security qestion and answer so you would have to notify the person what those are because you choose them. Moneygram is easier and also instant .For Both, you have to notify the person of the transaction number and they can get the money from any place that displays the relavant signs. You can get Western Union from places like K-Mart and money gram in grocery stores like Shoppers and others.

    If it's the first time you've employed them you should have gone trhough something like Escrow. You pay in the money beofre they start the work, and then it's released once you're happy with the standard of the work.

    The main trouble with things like Western Union is that once you send the money you can't get it back. Hence a lot of the scams all want you to send money via this service, so I would really avoid using it.
