Artisteer Meets WordPress, And Now I Can't Log Into My WP Admin

Hoping someone here can help me with this little problem Im having.

Created a WordPress theme using Artisteer. Exported into my themes folder, uploaded it into WP. Activated the theme.

Then all of the sudden I couldn't view my site. I kept getting a page not found error. So I tried logging into my admin area to activate another theme. But I kept getting a page not found error. So I logged into my cpanel via my hosting provider and went into the file manager folder and deleted the Artisteer theme thinking this would do the trick.

Nope.

Now my site just comes up as a blank white page. Which is somewhat understandable considering no theme is set. But, I am still getting a page not found error when trying to log into the WP admin area.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?? Any other way to log into my WP admin area other than the typical www. domain.com/wp-admin??

Thank you.

  • Hmmm, this is very unusual.

When you are in the directory in which WP is installed, are all the files there? For example: index.php and the wp-content folder, and wp-admin folder?

    • Yup, still there.
  • No, it is not "understandable" just by that. If the set theme gets deleted (via ftp or file manager) WP should fall back to the default - kubrick - theme.

    • I didn't know that. Thank you. That makes more sense than what I assumed.

  • So I got it working again. I just went into my cpanel, file manager, made another page my index, and then deleted the wordpress blog on the site. Then reinstalled it. Uploaded another artisteer template and it is working fine.

Another question though for anyone familiar with artisteer....how do I get my HTML site to open in Dreamweaver? Checked Artisteers site but I could only find directions on exporting for every type of file (WP, Joomla, etc) except HTML.

I exported the file as a folder and tried to open it in DW but no luck. Several files were available to open...stlye, script, and images.

Saving as a zip and doing it that way didn't work either. I didn't even have the option to open it in DW as a zip. Do I have to unzip it first?

Clearly I'm missing something. Any help is appreciated.

    • The option to export the HTML page shows up in the very same menu where you export the wp template. It should be the next menu item in the export section.

If it's not there, maybe your installation is not ok.

And IF you exported it, there should be no problem to open it in dreamweaver.
It's an html page like any other.

  • If you want to work with a zipped file in any kind of program - first thing to do: unzip it!
(this rule applies to any files and any program!)

Normally, all the WP theme files are PHP files. I have never used DW but what I heard about it tells me that people are trying to see WP theme .php files in it as a wysiwyg editor. Well, that will not happen. You cannot 'see' the output of those file in a wysiwyg editor!

I also heard from wise people that when editing WP files in that editor - always set it in "code mode".

  • Thanks.

I don't try to edit/view the WP .php files in DW. Just the HTML versions.

    Thanks again.
  • There are absolutely no HTML files in any WordPress installation. So, I have no idea what are you editing...
