Has anyone signed a client remotely?

A typical sales deal usually has face-to-face meetings between a salesperson and a client, sometimes over coffee. But because everyone is remote, things are different. So as the title says, has anyone closed a deal without fully meeting the client/prospect? Like, without ever meeting them in person?

What do you mean? Millions of deals are being closed everyday online without the client meeting the dealer. In fact, we now close deals without seeing or handling the goods.

When I was selling mobile website design, feels like an age ago now, I used to close deals via email only. No meetings, no phone calls, no chat sessions; and that was from abroad too.

I had a partner (now a friend), we worked together on 3 product launches (2 got WSOOTD) and more, our whole communication was via email only.

I had a client I had found from Craigslist, whom I actively worked with for about 4 years, via email only.

I like keeping it to email, but I know some people prefer to see/talk to people they're gonna work with, sell to/buy from. It is also related to establishing trust the way you communicate, whichever it is: email, phone, video chat, face-to-face. These days, social proof is also important.

Yeah. I never met clients face to face. Mainly email and very occasionally over the phone.

  • Hi Enzo, my driving school is still signing new clients everyday, thanks to 'word of mouth', even though it's lockdown in my country and I'm no longer able to provide driving lessons during the current phase of our lockdown period.

People are contacting me via Facebook messenger and whatsapp. They paying me now while they have the money. So once lockdown is lifted, they can immediately commence with driving lessons.

Sure, as previous authors mentioned, this is not anything exceptional or strange nowadays.

I have been closing deals (marketing strategies and execution) with several phone calls + mails. And that's just one example

Of course, the higher the price / stakes, the higher the chance that buyer will want to see you, at least at videoconference.

My wife is still selling her fried chicken pack via WhatsApp texting only. It's been 2 years now. And it even doesn't matter with the pandemic situation. She never meet her customers. And the payment always goes direct to her bank account. Her business is local by the way.

In my work place, getting a client to buy our products takes place over phone, even today.
This happens when the business employees are on one continent and client is on some other.
These things happen on a daily basis.

In my "slaving away as a B2B rep" days, I used to meet prospects and clients face to face. I'm glad those days are behind me.

I've used docusign frequently for buying and selling real estate deals. Many times I've never even spoken to anyone over the course of the transactions. All done by email. It is increasingly becoming an accepted business practice even for large offline transactions.

In todays modern technology, if you have the right sales funnel in place you can close sales, offer one time offer upgrades and send them to a recorded webinar and offer another upsell, Its not hard if you have the right sales funnel.

Perhaps you just need the right sales funnel, that has a compelling reason why people should give you their email address.
