Why Is No One Bidding On My $450 Per Month Site On Flippa

Hi warriors, I need help again. I am kinda frustrated that my $450 per month site that has just been listed on flippa is not getting bids and I will like you guys to help me suggest some of the reasons why the site may not be getting bids.

The site makes on average $450 per month with 224 articles written and submitted to Ezinearticles but no one seems to be interested which is frustrating.

The url to the listing is Site for Sale: 450 dollars Per Month Site With Over 200 Unique Articles For Site — Flippa

I got one bid for $250 so far but it is obvious that I will not sell the site for $250. what is the problem? Is the sales letter not good enough? Or is the design so bad?

    Ok,

Firstly I would of probably put the Success Fee your way rather than the buyers way! Just a thought, may not matter, but if someone buys for 4k it can be a substantial sum to some people.

Secondly, there are spelling errors in the title and subtitle and I believe your title should have been more thought out. Did you research other high traffic listings to see what titles were pulling eyeballs in???

The first block of content is also very heavy on the eye, maybe format this a little better and break it up as I actually couldn't be bothered to read it, get some bulleted benefits near the top, so straight away potential buyers see what they are getting without having to read the whole listing.

This will draw interest and the interested parties will then read the lot!!!

I am not a site flipping expert though and I may be wrong, but those things stood out to me straight away!

I hope that helps and Good Luck with it!

This is a good response and contains everything i was going to address. However, you may also want to sell it on WF if you haven't already (in the appropriate section of course)

One reason may be that serious bidders will wait and post their bids last day. Your site is online less than two days. I get most of the serious bids on my flippa auctions last day.

This is exactly what I was going to say - I've sold a number of similar sites and get most bids on the last day as well.

As mentioned by Gogetta the title and subtitle need improvement.

You say the content is unique but in the Site content section it says there are 8 possible copies.

What percentage of traffic is coming direct from the search engines? Article traffic is alot less valuable as most buyers don't want to keep submitting articles to keep the traffic going.

Never make the buyer pay the success fee (that could be a big reason why you're not getting bids) - I normally go 50/50 or pay it myself.

just looking at your auction. Yes, there's misspelling you did. But that doesn't matter for me. And you've got your first bid when I see your auction site. Just be patience and not to go rush for it.

But, there is something I notice about your site. Your site has PR0 on the main page, and many unranked in depth pages. Maybe that's why your auction go up slowly, since you said Google rank it high. Secondly, your site theme is usual for me, and not eye-catching.

But anyway you still have 3 more days, right? So, with your first bidder there, you will get another bidder very soon.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate your suggestions. I have seen some of the spelling errors but it seems you can no longer edit your title and sales letter with flippa.

@ Javern, is that suppose to be your first post on the warrior forum? Sincerely, I could not have done better than that. People like you are the main reason I am still in this business.

@ everyone, I will keep watching to see if someone will buy the site, if it is not sold, I will work on it for another 1 month and then relist in December.

The only problem is that Clickbank is not sending my checks and I have urgent financial problems to attend to.

Yep - some people actually list their site for sale just for the traffic boost

Was that suppose to be an insult to my person?

I expect someone like you to understand since you were interested in buying the site about 1-2 months ago. I got someone to help me pay the listing fee yet I was listing to boost traffic?

I was not insulting you at all - in fact I just bid on the site.

My comment was a stated fact - I've seen perpetual sites for sale on Sitepoint (now Flippa). It's a high PR site thats links get ranked quickly in Google.

If you list your site for sale there you will get an instant traffic boost and possibly a sales boost for any products.

I've purchased a number of sites off Sitepoint over the years - after you purchase it you can see the stats bump during the time it was listed and it drops off immediately afterward.

Why would someone do that? People at Flippa are looking to buy sites, not what the sites are selling .

Buyers should not have to pay a "success fee" for you selling your site. I pay that myself.

The site looks good but the sales copy is messy and hard to read. Format it ... you can't do it this time, but add bold headings and paragraphs instead of run-on text. Make it look nice and easy to read.

If you just made a $100 day, add that in your comments today. Might spur some interest. I have a new listing for a site making $600 mnth and it is a 30-day auction, so I'm not expecting much in the way of bids until closer to the end, unless someone just must have it. There are 2 people watching it so I know there's some interest. A lot of people wait til the end to see what others are bidding, etc.

Why would you want to sell it? I understand about a quick 4k but still if it keeps growing I am sure you will make more....

What were the comments that you deleted? When you delete comments you should update your listing to explain why. There are a lot of scams on Flippa and one of the most obvious signs is deleted comments, which is usually people asking questions the scammers don't want to shine a light on.

Not saying that is the case here but you should realise that is the perception a lot of people will have if you don't explain.

Most likely deleted due to all the little a**hole auction spoilers on Flippa. That is my perception when I see deleted comments, particularly since I am a seller and have deleted them myself.

One thing that many of them do not realize is that auction spoiling, leaving negative comments about an auction, is against Flippa TOS and Flippa will delete them and their traces and ban the commenter if it is reported. I report it when it happens and I no longer get as many of them. If you believe an auction should be reported for being a scam, that is what the report button is for.

Comments on auctions are one of the reasons I hate Flippa. I pay for the auction and then have to constantly guard it against these little auction spoiling vermin that infest Flippa.

    Hi,

I just wanted to ask if you could PM me with an outline of how you achieved this.

I'm interested in turning a few of my blogs into auto cash generators like this and any pointers would be helpful.

Just to be clear - I've been watching this site for several months as I was interested in buying it. I wouldn't call it an 'auto cash generator' as Yommy has put a huge amount of work into the articles that drive traffic to it.

From the income each month he's definitely proved that article marketing works.

Yes, like many others, I've also noticed that bidding really picks up in the last day of an auction. I've had auctions that only got a bid or two at the beginning, then erupted into a bidding war that actually extended the auction a day or more past when it would normally have closed. Those types of things are always exciting! So wait until the last day of the auction and see what happens. If your auction has any watchers on it, they may come out and bid as the auction gets nearer to closing.

Thanks for the bid, it has now been accepted. However, I need to point out that the site is on autopoilt with the 227 articles already published at EZA.

The evident to that is the amount the site has made this month. The site got 2 rerfunds today ( which is unusual ) and another sale which puts the total amount made so far at $98 which isn't too bad considering it is just the 4th day of the month.

Just wait until the last few days, and the bidders should come in. Also, you might want to accept the current bid, even if you won`t sell the website for that amount of money. This will help you get the ball rolling.

Also, I have noticed (but I might be wrong here, so don`t take this as serious advice), that websites that are listed for a longer period, they do not get as much attention as the ones that are listed for say - 7 or 10 days. Again, that`s just my ecperience.

    Wish you luck!

    from your ad...

The 218 articles published are only submitted to ezinearticles which means you can easily double the current monthly earning by distributing the articles to the other over 1000 articles directories
I think you should have taken an extra day or two and done this yourself as well as outsourced a backlink package and worked on the site PR (many buyers still love PR).

Aside from that... 4 months isn't enough time for me to buy a site. I'd want to see consistent earnings over a year.

    BTW... very nice site.

I think the language used on your website is too SEO centric and looses the actual feel of reading the content.

What I meant is that I can see that you are getting results since July which is great. But like most products that have a life-cycle, what is the potential for long lasting recurring revenue to justify the price for future potential offerings.

I suppose there is no way to check but I still want to know if it is that flippa will send those watching the auction a message to remind them about the listing before it closes or is there a way they will be notified about activites going on with the auction?

I'm not sure where this thread is going. You have posted that you accepted the $250 bid but the current bid is showing as $600. What's that?

I agree you should pay the success fee. The design is fine for the site but there are a lot of errors and poor text on the site. That may not matter if the site is consistently earning but it might reduce the value of the site to a new owner.

Thanks for the advise. Problem is, flippa.com unlike sitepoint, do not allow you to change your description once it has been submitte.

As for the success fee, I will be paying for the escrow fees and the buyer should be able to pay the flippa fees.

Affiliate sites are usually valued way below sites that are producing its content or selling its own content.

Most presell sites (assuming that's your case) are valued at 2X the monthly income while a minisite can be valued at 5X the monthly income.

That is one reason why I don't flip affiliate sites anymore.

You can alter the description once the listing is LIVE!

You can't alter the title, thats all!

If you are logged in at Flippa, visit your page and then your listing. Now down the right hand side you will have some options. One of these options is to "Edit Your Listing".

Click on that and you can edit the description all you want. I did it just before on one of my listings!

You can only edit the description if there are no bids. Once there is a bid, you can no longer edit it.

I only realised that about an hour ago! LOL

I went to edit a listing of mine but it now has bids and obviously it was greyed out. I didn't know this, I do now!

Its weird, I saw on time a business that made 10 grand a month sold for ten grand.

I think the buyer definitely one in that case!

The bidding is up to $600 with 2 days and 2 hours to go, so advertising that site at Warriors paid off, alongside any help and advice taken for your sales copy

I've bought a couple of sites on flippa - and don't think this one will sell for anything like the BIN price.

In my experience, sites on there with 2 - 3 years of consistent profits, fail to attract much more than 10 x monthly profits as a selling price.

I think it will go (or not go) for something like $800-$1,000.

Yeah the market is much different from a few years ago ... I bough the free web hosting company Spacetowns.com back in the day (2002) for $4k-6k from ebay... can't remember the exact amount, that had traffic but no revenue streams. Scrapped the project not long after because of a complete hash up by the owner's transfer of the site & content to my servers :/

Thanks to everyone. I am hoping the bids will start coming soon. To those who think I am trying to advertise here, I am not in anyway trying to do that. I only started this thread because I am frustrated.

I have done everything including move away from Nigeria due to power problems and the issues associated with Nigeria that you and I know but it is over 1 year I have been online now and I still yet to be able to be making $1k per month consistently which is not because I am trying. I honestly think I am doing all I can to succeed but God knows better.

To worsen the situation. Click bank is not sending my checks. I have close to $2k in the account but only $946 have been sent since I have been online which is not helping. I have emailed them but they can't seem to see what is going on.

So please note, I am not trying to advertise here for free. I know the consquences of doing that and I will not be stupid to ruin the already fragile reputation I have ( due to being a Nigerian).

Just thought I'd add my own comment here, as I've bought up several sites before. You already got some great tips with spelling mistakes (which can put off some serious bidders), but here are my main issues if I were a potentially interested bidder:

    1. Your site is unproven. Unless I misread, it looks like you've been making money for three months. So it's not really a steady $450 / month -- it's $450 for the last three months. Even though this isn't bad, someone can have a $100 day and not make a dime later -- doesn't mean that they'll get $100 / day forever.

This is especially true with sites that are based only on articles or search engine placement for short periods of time, as there's no proven record and often times the rankings can drop and the owner would be left with minimal to no sales.

    2. Having said that, your asking price of nearly $4,000 is almost 4x what the site has ever made since it's been in existence.

    3. You don't give a lot of details on what it sells or how the buyer can continue selling the same stuff (you say you can make up to $30 commissions -- what's the lowest, what's the average, etc.?).

    4. You also don't seem to have a list or any assets like that, which might add value to your purchase since it might be deemed a higher risk purchase.

    5. Overall, I'd just say that the price you're looking for is high considering the short lifespan so far of your site, the risk factor to the buyer, etc.. I bet if you lowered that to half of what you're looking for, you might get some more interest if you fix up the other parts, but you might even have a hard time with that.

You are right and wrong. Personally I think 3 months is enough time to prove that the site is already doing well and the fact that the site has done $155 in the last 5 days shows the potential of the site. Sincerely, I would not have listed this site for sale if not for the financial problems I have.

I live with my cousin, his wife, 5 kids, his mother and his 3 young brothers in a 3 room apartment which is not confident for me in anyway. Beside that, selling the site will help me to assit my parents in pay my younger ones school fee.

If the site does not sell then I will keep it for another month and let God do what he wants with me.

      2. Having said that, your asking price of nearly $4,000 is almost 4x what the site has ever made since it's been in existence.
I have done nothing on the site this month but I have made $155 in the first 5 days of the month. What this means is that the buyer will need to do little to no work and still contiue to make money. In fact, he or she should be able to recouple his or her money plus some profit back in less than 6 months.

      3. You don't give a lot of details on what it sells or how the buyer can continue selling the same stuff (you say you can make up to $30 commissions -- what's the lowest, what's the average, etc.?).
You are tight here unfortunately it is too late. Thanks, will take note next time.

      4. You also don't seem to have a list or any assets like that, which might add value to your purchase since it might be deemed a higher risk purchase.
Total of 231 articles published at EZA is no asset? I think warriors who are article marketers know best. The articles will continue to bring in traffic and sales and if the buyer ( if there will be a buyer ) decide to distribute the articles to the other article directories, then he or she should be able to be making $900 per month.

      5. Overall, I'd just say that the price you're looking for is high considering the short lifespan so far of your site, the risk factor to the buyer, etc.. I bet if you lowered that to half of what you're looking for, you might get some more interest if you fix up the other parts, but you might even have a hard time with that. - Brian
I will like to sell the site but sincerely not at any price lower than the reserve price which is $3900.

      Hey Yommy,

I have no experience with flipping, but I've read that if you don't insist on a reserve price... that will encourage people to bid (at a low price of course), and that usually triggers a bidding war.

The risk is that you might end up selling it for the less than you intended. The benefit is that you have the social proof of people bidding on the site.

Hang tough... and if your reserve price is not met, try again and implement some of the good tips you've been given on this thread.

for your own and enjoy the passive income for years to come...

Hope you get best ROI for your efforts. God help you!

Thanks to everyone, true to your predictions the bids are beginning to come in but I can not believe my hard luck. I have had no internet connection since 1 pm my time yesterday and could not accept the 4 bids that came in.

Though the bids have now been accepted but I believe more and higher bids would have come in had I accepted the bids on time. The good thing is that the site keeps good money meaning it will probably surpass the $450 average at the end of this month.

I want to sell the site but never at a price lower than $3900.

I am so happy now. I had the most peaceful sleep in recent time even though I did not know the site has been sold.

I gave up on selling it when the highest bid was $2700 but waking up this morning there was a BIN bid which is soooooooooo WONDERFULLLLL.

I don't know what to say but I will like to say a big THANK YOU to the warriors. When I started this site, you guys were there to guide me through. When I need to write articles ( with my not so goog English) it was you guys I relied on.

When I was frustrated about the site recieving no bids, it was you guys that God Used to give me assurance, hope and the needed strenght to go on. In fact it was one of you who I relied on to help me keep an eye on the auction and to help accept the bids when I could not get online to do it by myself as a result of the cyber cafes being closed for the night.

You guys ( Ok I don't want to be sterotype, you guys and gals ) have been my heros and heriones. It is almost 2 years now but I have no regret(s). The wait has been worth it. I have made over $3999 in the offline world before but nothing delights me as much as this.

If this is a dream, I hope I don't wake up from it.

@ Rosetrees, if you are reading this post, I want you to know you are a warrior indeed. You have been a wonderful addition to me ever since I met you here on the warrior forum. I know without God using you, I probably would not have sold that site. You not only gave me the money needed to list the site, you help customised and redesign the site and not only that you also stayed in front of the computer as late as 1 am your time accepting bids for me.

I really appreciate everything you have done and pray that God, the rewarder of man will surely reward you. Today is the best day I have ever had this year and I am sure that HE THAT WATERETH SHALL BE WATERED. As I am glad, so shall you be glad.

I need to stop now before tears that dropping.. Thanks to everyone.
