Affiliate networks that let you use your own payment gateway?

Hi everyone,

I sell digital products using wordpress + woocommerce. Woocommerce allows me to manage the store, process payments (via stripe and paypal) and manage product downloads after payment (and access to a download section for each customer).

I would like to join an affiliate network but it seems like most of them require to use their own payment gateway (i.e. a page outside of my website to process payment) and I don't want that. I want my customers to stay on my website the whole time and use woocommerce to pay for the product so Woocommerce can appropriately give access to the download section to each customer after a sale.

It seems like ShareASale is one that doesn't require an external payment gateway (they seem to track down sales using the thank you page post sale) and I'm wondering if there are other networks like that? Note that I just started my business so I have limited sales and I'm a very small player currently.

Thanks

most physical product networks, CJ, Rakuten, Share a sale, clixgalore do not collect payments, that is the responsibility of the vendor. You will have to check with each one individually to see if they allow digital products

Thanks Agmccall, it seems like CJ and Rakuten are way above my league in terms of target audience for merchants (i.e. I'm way too small for them). Share A Sale seems to be the main candidate in my situation.

agmccall, exactly. But we always should pay attention to those little labels about PCI compliance, which can guarantee that this or that website has passed it. There are plenty of companies which can provide qualified pci dss compliance , and I even remember how we've been providing it for our online start-up, cause we've started making online payments as well.

Affiliates networks mostly dont indulge in payments from buyers, its through buyers and sellers through sellers own payment gateway. Affiliate networks just connects sellers with affiliate marketers and increase there sales.

Hi teamhai, not sure to follow. Multiple networks require merchants to use the network's payment system via a dedicated checkout page to process sales and commissions (that's the case of Warrior, JVzoo, Clickbank) so i'm looking for other networks for which this is not a requirement. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your message.

I think most of businesses at your stage are using their own affiliate program if they don't want to use an external payment system.

I started promoting affiliate offers about 15 years ago. During this time I was able to observe how different start-ups dealt with their affiliate program. Several years ago there were some affiliate networks that were used by most startups. As they grew into established businesses, they got into 1) big enough to work with Shareasale, CJ, etc, 2) use their own affiliate software.

Big established affiliate networks only work with you if you have high sales. Small affiliate networks tend to go out of business and ruin yours

Thanks thedark, interesting feedback. I'm worried that by using my own affiliate program (i've already started reaching out to blogs and websites), I would significantly limit my reach because I would only rely on blogs that I know and are willing to give it a shot (whereas with a network, I potentially get access to many more affiliates). Although I dont know to what extent affiliates on networks tend to accept dealing with new & small merchants..

It is important that you have a good payment system that you can really trust. There are some payment systems that are really not that great because either you have to wait too long for the verification or you have limited transactions. I trade online a lot and I could not have a payment system that will not let me make transactions all the time. Paypal was not that good for me because there were limitations and there was too long verification period. My friend told me to go to https://baxity.com/ecopayz-mastercard and choose a different payment system. There are a few systems on there an all of them are good, but I have chosen ecoPayz. It was the best one for me and I quickly got verified and my account. It is perfect for my business and I am recommending it to anyone that has a lot of online transactions.

Way before Woocommerce came along, we used the https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com ecommerce plugin (WP eStore) to sell digital products along with their affiliate plugin WP Affiliate Platform. Using these plugins together allowed us to control the full payment & affiliate processes ourselves.

Well as Affiliate marketing is booming lately and to match the demand and supply of that there are many alternatives to ShareAsale. Listing few hope you find these helpful.

    1. MaxBounty
    2. Clickbank
    3. Peerfly
    4. CJ

All these listed platforms have good sized network, but they are neither one of the largest nor one of the best paying affiliate networks out there. I would say they are firmly in the upper third.

Though many internet entrepreneurs and online store owners are willing to use their chosen payment gateway which helps meet some business needs, it's unfortunate that most powerful and giant affiliate networks such as CJ Affiliate, eBay Partner Network, etc, wouldn't let you choose a gateway for them. They have their chosen payment processors and wouldn't be willing to drop that for a merchant or store owner.

I was wondering why the thread owner wants to reinvent the wheel. I think you have given the answer I was looking for.

Shareasale and other similar networks allowed both the Physical and digital products as well. However, you can also look for a inhouse affiliate network or developed one using developers for your store. That would be a good option for you.
