A Picture Speaks 1000 Words

A picture is worth a thousand words, so they say. So I have noted that everyone is converting articles, blogs, and anything they wrote a few years ago into video and audio. Will this strategy attract more traffic in 2020?
#picture #speaks #words
  • If a picture speaks a thousand words, then a video speaks a thousand pictures per second.

Video is ultimately one of the best ways to create the 'know, like and trust' factor when engaging with your audience. Converting an article into a video adds a whole new perceived value to the content.

It's easier and often quicker to convert a prospect into a sales with videos, than it is with text. Without video these days, your brand won't be remembered.

Articles will always have their place in the media, but videos are in most cases always better.

Videos are definitely dominant and rising as I type this. But I had to get an app to stop AutoPlay from eating all my allotted bandwidth where I am located! The browser settings are a joke.

You open your spam box in yahoo and switch to another tab? Come back to find you just watched several Videos without knowing it!

Go on Websites and Videos are like a hundred sales people pitching you at the same time. You did not even watch them? Too bad Bandwidth sucked dry like vampire.

To bad, but if you are on Windows10 + you can restrict downloads. It means that you will only watch what you want.

Yes my friend I have been in denial, time to upgrade again, both hardware and software.

I constantly encourage my users to use pics and videos with their ads. So, yes. Images, infographics, videos are still a must in most cases.

True, I have also seen people embed videos and infographs in to their content.

Never hurts to have your content in multiple delivery forms.

But preference of consumption? That depends on the user, and the use case.

I hate recipes delivered by video.

I hate "How To Fix This Computer Thing" with a short number of steps explained by video...unless it's a complex, time-based thing. Screenshots are just fine when logging into a webmail program for the first time...but a tutorial on how to engage in a torpedo attack in Silent Hunter III would be infuriating as an article and much better served by video.

So what are the preferences of your audience?

And a reminder that there are no magic bullets.

Right, there are no magical bullets but google appears to be favouring images and videos.

That's one of those sayings that sounds profound, but isn't.

Who is writing the 1,000 words? What are these thousand words?

I'm going to let you in on a secret. When we are reading a well written sales piece, the images we are assembling in our imagination are always more convincing than any real photo.

A photo (and by extension a video) gives an exact representation. On one hand, it clarifies. On the other hand it limits your interpretation.

And...who is the photographer? Do they know how to sell with an image? Who created the video. Do they know how to sell with a video?

It's not the media as much as the message, and the expertise of the person producing that message.

Assuming that the photographer has the expertise required to make the video or picture summarize the thoughts to eliminate ambiguity, don't you thing it could be 10 times better than written content?

        Could be? Sure.

I've seen photos tell a whole story in ads. But I've never seen a photo answer every possible question, and handle every possible objection. That takes copy.

One huge advantage a photo (or thumbnail of a video) has is that it draws the eye.
A videos can be sell better than the written word, if the video is produced by someone who knows how to sell.

But there is an advantage to ambiguity. It can allow the reader to put themselves in the story. It can allow the reader to fill in the blanks, to make the story fit them even better.

Bu the best way is to have photos, video, and written copy. That way the reader can follow along in their preferred media.

A great idea! combining a video and images is a quikk kill. It can appeal to any audience.

In my fantasies, I flutter back through time regulah to Leonardo's dusky stoodio an' pitch him water while he makin' with the Mona.

"Throw in sum electric blue on them lips, mebbe you can sell your helicoptah idea, sweetie."

Leonardo turns to me, his brush drippin' with burnished flesh tones. "You promised to reveal the secrets of the hipster beard. Make ready with your sublime clippers -- or be damned!"

"You want I shave your ass? Jus' cos you figure I mebbe know Elon Musk and his whole flyin' way crazy deal?"

Uh hoh. Seems the guy's historickwaahl genius caught me out.

He raises an eyebrow till the gleam of his teeth blinds me from behind his smirk. "Here in Italy, we call them donkeys. Kindly refrain from proffering immodest suggestions! And please desist from guzzling my wine like a f*cking tramp!"

Anytime you do any form of marketing, there is no guarantee that it will work for you.

FREE marketing works for some but not for others who do that same thing.

You just have to figure out what works for you and what doesn't.

This is being done to provide alternative versions of the materials and distribute them on the internet for all the interested consumers, it is not supposed to undermine the quality and importance of written blogs and articles.

Right, it is not going to undermine written blogs and articles but we are just trying to consider the needs of consumers. They have read so much literature on the internet that I feel they will be happy to decipher messages from pictures. What do you think?
