Geez, you probably know this, but I feel a bit dumb for not realizing.

Aweber bills you for the number of Unsubscribed emails on your account too!

So go and delete all those Unsubscribed/Unverified emails still sitting in your account, esp if you're about to reach one of their new payment threholds.

Was kind of annoyed I didn't catch it before I was billed 2x more than usual this month

This is actually something that a lot of newer e-mail marketers won't realize. Good idea to share this!

Strange! I pay an annual fee, not a usage fee.

Yeah, I learned that here on the WF years ago. Each month I have them delete all the unsubscribed and inactive leads.

Do they have to delete these or can the account owner delete this himself?

Dang, I didn't know they'd delete them for you. I just view 100 at a time and delete manually. But that is time consuming.

You can contact us to do it, or you can DIY it via the "Search Subscribers" page.

Keep in mind that when you delete the unsubscribes, you lose any stats related
to those unsubscribes (i.e. where in your follow up sequence they were when they
unsubscribed, how many people from the past day/week/month/etc have
      unsubscribed, etc).

If you're cool with that, then by all means delete them. If you're going to use that
data to improve/optimize your email marketing campaigns, then I suggest you either
download copies of those reports before deleting them, or just don't delete them.

Why don't you guys just charge for ACTIVE accounts? Because once they've deleted or un-subbed, they can never be active again on the same list.

The way most marketers do things, they end up with the same name on tons of different lists, some active, some inactive. So if you start someone off on a general list, then they opt-in to a newsletter, they're removed from the first list. Then they buy something and they're moved to a 2nd list and removed from the first list. They're still listed as un-subs or deletions from the first two lists, right?

I must have two dozen entries on Mike Filsaime's lists alone! I've un-subbed from all but a couple b/c I get tired of getting all of the duplicate emails he sends out.

It's not inconceivable that someone would have more inactive duplicate entries than active entries.

So why charge for them, other than to pad your own coffers?
