Google Maps Listing

Does anyone know how to get a business added to Google Maps - like on the map below? I don't mean as a pop-up that appears when you point at a pin marker, I mean like the ones shown on the map below

    Wow, I have actually never noticed that!

    Does Google automatically put those there when they are placed in the Local Google Business Center??

    You'll need to set up a Google account. Once that is done log in and click on Maps. On the left side of the screen you'll see a link that says "Put your business on Google Maps. It's a fairly simple process.

      In order to register your business with google maps, you are also going to need a gmail account, which is free. The more "stuff" you put on your listing, the higher you will rank.

      You can put up to 10 pictures, create some coupons, have your clients write reviews, you can even put a youtube on there instead of one of the pictures, lol.

    If you haven't found out how yet, simply go to the Local Business Center (link below) and register your company. Go through the phone verification process where Google calls you with a PIN number for you to then enter on your business listing. Next, enter in AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE including coupons, hours of operation, company data, photos, video, etc. Make sure your FULL ADDRESS is in the footer of each page on your website. Map listings using the concept of "citations" which are the equivilent of links for a website. When other sites reference your address/phone/business name, that's similar to a link. There are big changes happening in the Map Pack, but it's a great way to get traffic and PHONE CALLS for your business.

    Probably Google, Google Maps / LBR are very prone to change, far more so than SERPS.

    I think those are businesses that has been well established within its community for many years and probably owns the building itself.

      Besides listing yourself on google, you can do the same thing on yahoo, bing and best of the web. Take it a step further, localeze.com, rateitall.com, orangesubmit.com will do it all for free as well.

      Check out getlisted.org, all the links are there. Honestly, I have not approached local small businesses with this so I have no idea how succesful you would be with this.

      Pricing anyone?

      1. Adding business name, address, hours of operation
      2. Adding 1, 2, 3 coupons
      3. Adding 9 pictures
      4. Adding one youtube video (created in photo story 3)
      5. Have clients/customers write revies (and you supplying them with a template that basically says "thank you for using/shopping with our business, please write a review with your positive feedback and when you do, print out the coupon to get x discount on your next visit to our business.

    It's all been said here in the thread, so I'll only add this. Not only can you get your site on Google maps, but you can use that same strategy to help other local businesses do the same. And when you do that, you can charge for the service.
