Hi Warriors.

I have just uploaded some videos from Camtasia that can be viewed online no problem at all, but how on earth do you make them downloadable?

Or how do I zip Produced Camtasia Videos up for download so they can be viewed offline?

Thanks in advance,

GoGetta

  • Hi GoGetta,

I just posted a thread asking the same question (see wiley1 a few entries below yours). When you find the answer, will you please let me know.

    Thanks very much.
  • Hehe, didn't realise!

    • Hi GoGetta,

Here's a reply that I got. I'm going to try it.

Have you tried the DownloadHelper add-on for Firefox? I frequently download videos to watch later or for reference. I haven't come across one that was not downloadable.

      Good Luck
  • As far as the download part goes, just create a folder on your desktop (or wherever) put the video(s) in the folder, right click with mouse, select Winzip (or whatever you use) and then 'Add to file' and that should zip it for you.

Then ftp it to whatever download folder you have on your site.

  • Hi Gary,

Yes I thought that, but the Camtasia videos are in folders with many different files, can I just zip this up and anyone can watch them?

  • Sorry GoGetta,

I misunderstood your question. Your situation is different from mine.
  • Where have you uploaded them too? Your site?
If so then you could also convert the videos to MOV, AVI or WMV.
and then zip them up adding a link for others to download.

Just a thought, Not sure what you actuall want to do?

  • The guy with a ton of Camtasia "how To" tricks is Bill Myers. He posts a lot of great info on YouTube for free. Has a number of free access articles on his members site at bmyers.com

  • Hi Michael,

    Ok,

I made the videos in camtasia,

    Produced them for the Web,

Then uploaded the produced video folders to my server/site,

Now if I go to the URL they are uploaded to they play fine,

Now how do I produce downloadable versions as each video is a folder with a html, flash file, mp4 file etc.

I am happy with them to be viewed online off of my server, but I also want to offer a download link on the product download page for users that want to watch them offline.

How do I do that with a camtasia video?

I hope that explains it further, thanks for the help so far!

  • Kevin,

Thank you! I thought that but when I played the MP4 it played the audio and not the video through RealPlayer but that is probably because it is not an MP4 player!

    Thanks

  • You can get an mp4 codex add-on for Windows Media Player somewhere in MS land. I installed it just about two weeks ago because I got tired of having to convert my mp4s to other formats for viewing. There may be a similar addon/plugin for RealPlayer, not sure.
