Innovation appears to be taking the center stage in internet marketing. Podcasts are becoming increasingly common as Influencers use new tactics to take internet marketing to the next level. What are some of the trends/innovations we should expect in internet marketing the last quarter of 2020?

  • Chatbots for customer service, high-quality/tailored content (videos/images/SEO), and more personalized email campaigns, to name a few.

    • It means that email marketing is not going away any sooner. So marketers must work hardto personalize them right?
  • This isn't innovative by any means, but my guess would be you'll see a lot more companies using text messaging.

    For example, Verizon will not stop texting me with random offers here and there.

    Thunk diffrent ... unless there be innovation, how will IM (or anythin') change?


    Novelty is the currency of progress.


    So that is my first suggestion for Mindy.

      Can I say the words Postal Chaos? Now imagine Christmas or the people that get meds in the mail and cash.

  • The USPS has lost $78 billion in the past 13 years and is rescued every time it desperately needs money.... before each 'rescue' there are media stories and all sorts of claims - then the post office gets bailed out and we hear little more till next time.


    This thread is about 'innovation' and the US post office has been severely lacking in innovation for many years.



    What is missing this year is the usual demand that the post office begin operating as a business - charging what is necessary and cutting costs where needed to at least break even. It is an interesting study - this is what happens when a business can count on being rescued financially time after time. There is no incentive to improve, to streamline, to downsize. There have been attempts to downsize in the past - very small branch offices were closed, etc....but nothing close to what is needed to make the service self sustaining.



    Many years ago both Federal Express and UPS wanted to start a 'postal service' and were not permitted to do so as the USPS has the only service of its kind permitted. Even so, if I'm sending a time sensitive contract I'll use FedEx.

    • I believe there was a 700 Billion Failure/Rescue you may have forgotten.
      I have been reading alot about A.I and facial recognition but def do not trust it...also data is obviously not as secure as it could be.
    • Is it possible for the USPS to do the same thing that Germany did with their postal system and DHL? They're super efficient, really profitable, and they're able to service even the rural areas.
  • I'm interested in seeing the role technologies like GPT-3 may play in an Internet Marketer's toolbox. Don't think it'll displace any copywriters worth their salt any time soon, but do think, with the right prompt, it could play a part in dramatically speeding up/automating the creation of short creative writing/content (tweets, texts, etc)

    • the copywrite worth their salt who can use the best automation to produce decent text ..documents..then can take that and add their touch..once they figure out that what the people they farm out work to are doing ....

      the skilled people will be more productive ..and possible make more money while the low skilled people will be stuck serving the cheap customers who cant afford or figure how to use the programs on their own..

      when a computer can simulate a voice i want to listen to over a human..maybe it can generate text i would read over a human..

      or if you see the quality of my write improve by a few orders of magnitude ..you know i am using an AI text generator
    • GPT-3 is scarily good. I read that it wrote an article that made it to the front page of Hackernoon using some simple prompts. It generated an article that read like it was written by an expert.

      Like most, I've tested different tools like Articleforge and article spinners but the quality was always garbage. GPT-3 is the only tool I've seen that provides a convincing imitation of a human writer.

  • Fascinating stuff! Love the positive bent to it all as well; a nice change of pace from the typical doom and gloom. Some of this stuff would've sounded crazy a few years ago, but the fact that most of this technology (3d printing, 5g, advanced robotics, etc) is already here and rapidly evolving makes me think we're *really* about to step on the pedal with a lot of it.

    • well the advanced carbon sequestering techs .. are actually farming practices that build soil an inch every few years instead of an inch every thousand years ...sequester carbon in the form of biomass in the soil and the soil retains far more water and nutrients and a rich ecosystem that grow healther plants with no artificial chemical inputs ..

      and even with conventional large scale mono cropping .. the automated rigs that can go over a field .. identify weed and apply herbicide. identify the crop and apply fertilizer . and identify a bug and hit it with insecticide .. resulting in better crops with 90 percent of the tradition inputs .

      the convoluted food supply network we where using before covid that literally wasted more than half of the produce grown was behind most of our excess carbon emissions ,water use and land use ..

      i don't know the exact numbers but for every calorie we consume .. like 10-30 calories of oil was used to grow and ship that 1 calorie .. with a major amount of topsoil loss with the carbon in that soil vaporizing into the atmosphere ..

      imagine we get to the point where the local produce farmer ..instead of haveing to take his/her pruduce to a Market set it out under a video display .. and you buy it from your home .. they put it in a box with say minum orders of 10 or 20 pounds .. of produce ..

      they put the box in a dron and a half hour later the drone has droped it at your door and you are unpacking it ..knowing only the farmers hand and your hands have touched the produce ..

      and in construction the push is going to passive homes which use 90 percent less energy to heat and cool ..

      future office building will have greenhouses on the top level with hydroponic grow towers ..giveing the workers in the building a regular source of fresh produce

      now as to the wealth gap .. there will be an explosion of ways to build wealth ,, there already is .. the people with wealth can not be faulted for those unwilling to use the many tools that are being made available every day ..
