Whois Update

Does anyone know when Whois database gets updated, more specifically updated with new Whois Record. For some reason when I bought my domains I didn't get private registration (I always get them with my domains). So I called GoDaddy and they put them on for me. The sites in question all reflect private registration except for one, the one I did very little promotion to get it indexed (no, nothing BH or spamming).

Just curious as to when the private registration should appear in Whois.

    Coming from someone who worked in the registrar business in a previous life,
    WHOIS contact changes take place every 12AM and 12PM every day. Unlike,
    say, DNS changes that almost immediately take effect.

    If Go Daddy's WHOIS shows the domain's privacy feature, then it's set. Not all
    other WHOIS services update at the same time, so it'll take a while to trickle
    down.
