Some steps to convert cold traffic into buyers.

1. Lead Magnet
2. Content Marketing
3. Interacting and helping people in
the likes of social media, forums etc
4. Social proof [ utilising testimonials]
When you help people and people are thankful; you can use that as your testimonial

5. Results in advance
Show them a bit about your product that will give them a small win. E.g. selling a weight loss product , you give them 1 tip how they can cut 200-500 calories daily by eliminating carbs from their diet.

Yes, but it's important to have some skills in doing that.

Most newbies are just copy and pasting some pre written emails and spam their subscribers with random products because they have no idea what they are doing and then they end up being frustrated because nobody from their list opens emails or buys products.

@freedompath23; Very much indeed. E-mail follow up is also one of the recommended strategies because prospects these are skeptical about some online business types of offers. Sending follow up e-mails helps to erase any skepticism they have on their mind and put your case forward and really nudge them to buy your product.

It's true but the traffic you buy is as important.

If you buy solo ads and the person who opts into your autoresponder, might be on 20-50 other lists. This is a LOSING game for you. You can get 100's or 1000's of subscribers but make $0 in ROI.

The source of traffic is as important.

Test every place you buy traffic from.

Excellent and all proven to work.

    Especially #3.

Being generous with your knowledge and or resources in public...people are really paying attention and many times they will seek you out on their own accord.

Yes, the power of reciprocity is universal...

Giving without expecting anything in return will help you get goodwill and wellwishers, who would gladly want do you a favour by purchasing through your affiliate links or buying your own product.

These are not steps but general ideas. Good ideas, but general. The people who fail at converting cold traffic into buyers do it not because they do not know they need a lead magnet but because they do not know how to get a one.

    Same for everything else.

      Agreed with my thoughts.

      More like:
      1. Attract the lead
      2. Capture the lead
      3. Warm the lead up
      4. Present the offer to the lead

Most people fail to capture the lead. Wasted effort if you don't. Best to create the opportunities to present the offer to the lead multiple times. Some decisions based on feedback from choices made in the funnel would help, too (did they click and watch this video, or didn't they? Send them down one side of the decision tree based on how they behaved. Free autoresponders now have this capability and it's not rocket science.)

HOW you accomplish Step 1 there is what the OP shared. Some ideas, not the only ideas, of how you could attract the lead.

Now someone with some brains is going to say, "But Jason, that's not what YOU do." Yeah, I'm not you. I'm in a very different position. I don't want to attract people: I want to send most people away. Most are not a fit to work with me. I have a high bar to meet, people have to have a decent money tolerance to afford my basic stuff, which means they have to have something consistent going on. To qualify IN to * my * list, I have higher requirements than just showing up on a content page. But for newbies, you should not behave that way. You need to capture and filter everyone you can get, because your traffic quality and quantity are likely to be low.

I agree with your assessment but every marketer is at different levels of marketing. Some are new, some are intermediate and some are advanced. So, the thread isn't mean't for everyone. It might be refreshing and new for someone and old and stale for someone else depending on your knowledge level.

I said nothing about refreshing or stale. I said it's got good but general ideas not steps.

        Steps would be:
        To create a lead magnet
        1. determine what your target audience pain points are
1.a join FaceBook groups your target audience joins and read their questions and comments and take notes.
1.b join online forums your target audience joins, read their questions and comments and take notes.
        2. Sort the questions and comments you collected and your notes. Take the top three questions or concerns (most important /occurred most often) and write a solution to each.
        3. read your solutions and write an introduction to them.
        4. write a conclusion that invites them to take whatever action you want them to take (buy a product you're promoting, book an appointment, etc.)
        5. beautify your lead magnet (add appropriate images, change fonts, etc.)
        6. upload your lead magnet to your site.
        7. create a form that requests an email address in exchange for your lead magnet (this assumes you already know how to use autoresponders; if you do not, click here for my guide to setting up my favorite autoresponder aweber.com).
        8. make sure your form takes them to the download page (or, if you'd rather email it to them, create the first email in the sequence and make sure the link to the lead magnet works. NOTE: this is a good place to start converting them... Reminding them why they're getting the message and what they're getting from the lead magnet is a good way to do that, so make sure to add that type of info).
        9. write follow-up email messages.

        See the difference?

It is as simple as 1,2,3. capture their interest, tell them their problem and avail a solution to their problem.
