Can someone please tell me what Sic code to use for affiliate marketing?

Hi everyone, i would like to get my business license and to do that they are asking for a sic code for the business i'm going to start. I'd like to join Amazon's affiliate marketing program and get paid commissions. I was going to build some websites and start marketing them.

Q1. So my question is if i'm going to do this type of business then what is the Sic code i should use? I assume everyone here that does affiliate marketing knows the Sic code they use.

Q2. Also, if i choose the advertising Sic code am i going to need an advertising license because i read something about needing one for advertising or is that for some other type of advertising?

    It's not super important. Just pick something close. I'd go with NAICS Code 5191302741 (SIC Code 2741)

    Hi, thank you for your help. I tried using the sic code you suggested but it said that for that sic code something about needing a storm water permit also for that one. I'm in Ca USA. It did say that it was for publishing though. I also tried using other sic codes for publishing but they all said they were for books.

    Q1. Would it be ok to use the information retrieval services sic code 7375 or 7374 for computer processing? I also found 8742 management consulting because it lists marketing consultants. Can i use any of those?

    I thought the last one for the marketing consultants would be the one i should use because my websites would be marketed on the internet. In your opinion is this the one i should use?

    SIC code 2741 is for miscellaneous publishing whether in print or online. That's what blogs/affiliate sites are!

    Just use that code. Like I said, it really doesn't matter. The SIC Code Police are not going to arrest you for using the wrong one. Worse comes to worst, in the extremely unlikely event that someone tells you it is the wrong one in the super distant future, ask them what one they would like you to use. It doesn't affect anything that matters to government, namely tax money.
