If you just started, try something AWAY from the Internet Marketing niche... alternative fuel/alternative energy guides seem to be hot right now. Get the hang of marketing and promoting before you actually jump into the IM niche

Just my advice based on personal experience...

    Hi Jimewing2121,

    Welcome to the forum!

I know how annoying it can be having seen no money.

4 days...I must say it is a short time to see the results...Gurus in this forum have spent around 10 years to perfect their IM skills and they spend most of the time sharpening their axes and swords.

You can share with us exactly what you did and we can move on from there.

    Cheers,

      Hi Jimewing2121

Yep Welcome to the forum, if you don't have enough money to start IM business, my advice is first try to sold your service on the internet. Because internet is just a medium. Your success is not come overnight.

Get into affiliate marketing with CJ, SAS or any of the
other major networks. This is the perfect time of year
to start as the Christmas buying season is just around
the corner. Christmas gift items are the ideal products
to promote but you can push other things also.

Definitely, if you are just starting in IM, pick something besides an IM product. Nothing wrong with Keyword Elite, its kust that a lot of folks are already selling it and without a list, it might be tough going to get people to buy from you.

Alright this is all very good advice but I am wondering how I might be able to get a list and how would i promote/ sell a product? Like do I make a whole page dedicated to my product or do I do a review for my product and post it on article sites? Like how do the experts sell products. And time is not an issue. i have all day and night I just need money. lol

          To have a list:
You need to have a opt in page

To have a opt in page:
You need to have a bait such as a report or ebook of about 15 pages

          To have a report:
You need to know what you want to sell based on what you know.

Check out the clickbank.com and see how they sell.

Since time is not an issue, yes, go and check out the WSO forums too.

          Hi,

Like how do the experts sell products
I'm not saying you shouldn't be here asking questions, but AS WELL AS doing this you need to be -

          a) using google

          b) using sig link's in the forum

          c) reading the forum

          d) signing up to lists

...in order to find the answer to that question for yourself. Why?

A few reasons. One, because you will find answers that you will NEVER see mentioned in forums (using a) & d) above), because the people using them are not about to reveal them.

Two, because you are more likely to retain and act on what you learn when you learn it for yourself.

Three, because it develops the kind of initiative that is imperative, in order to

          1) survive in business

          2) be able to find answers via the internet for whatever you want, whenever you want

          3) do things differently and differentiate yourself

Like I said, you are taking action by asking here which is good, but make sure that as well as that, that you are becoming a nosey sleuth. It's possible to discover things that hardly anyone else knows in this way.

Find a starting point (either a poster who you think is successful and has a site that they link to, or a site that you believe is doing what you want to do very well). Then learn the methods for -

          a) reverse engineering their success - how are they getting traffic? Who links to them and why? What process are they using to monetise their visitors?

          b) finding out their network of sites and establishing what type of system they are using to be able to create the sites.

I could write a book on the hidden benefits of going about things in this way. By becoming a nosey detective you will eventually see the whole internet as a virtually transparent blueprint for success.

There are many free tools to help you to find a site's backlinks and other data. A cheap subscription to domaintools.com will provide you with a lot of information about other peoples' networks.

If they are on shared hosting, then you might have to work harder, looking for patterns, systems etc. but again, this will develop your ability. EG - people often share some PR link-love by putting some of their other sites in their footer. What niches are they in? Why? What's the connection?

This doesn't have to be a short term plan. And the more time that you spend practising these skills, your ability will grow exponentially. You will know about new innovations that are at the leading edge way before they are discussed on forums - or perhaps you will know about them as they arrive on the forums and therefore you can use BOTH sets of information together.

You just need to develop the inclination to do things in this way. Some people never get it. That's fine, but if you do, you are never dependant on second-hand information.

Then the second part of the process is to develop the ability to quickly apply what you discover to your own tests and to track the results to determine for yourself whether you have accurately 'read' the information that you have gleaned.

If you can become good at these things, I'm sure you don't need me to tell you what the possibilities are in terms of building your own empire as well as being able to provide cutting edge information to others. I use these techniques for my own research, but I am not a master of them yet - there is a still a way to go. I'm just sharing what I know and a little of what I do.

I offer this advice because you said -

I am very motivated and have all the time in the world.
In my experience, if you find that you don't know where to start - start with the above. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes interesting and valuable and the fact that you are using your initiative and finding your own answers will compel you to keep going. Just make sure that as soon as possible you switch to testing out what you have discovered.

Domains and hosting are the least expensive tools that you need and are also the most important.

          I hope this helps.

Hello Jimewing2121. Welcome to the Warrior Forum. The first thing I would do is get an education in marketing. You are off to a good start by posting a question in the warrior forum. I would focus on market first product second. In addition, I would browse the warrior forum for topics that discuss the questions that you might have.

      Hi Jim,

Let's be honest with each other. You are not going to spend a dime on products before you start making any money online. Right?

      Success = Time + Money

As you have said, you have plenty of time so there is not much of a problem here. If you are not willing to spend a dime on anything to get started, I'll give you a plan. Follow this plan and you shall be making your first dollar in no time.

      This plan involves:
      NO paid host needed
      NO list
      NO paid advertising
      NO joint ventures
      NO outsourcing

---ONLY FOLLOW THIS PLAN IF YOU ARE NOT A LAZY BUM!!!---

First, do your market research, dig out everything that you are passionate about to get started. List at least 5 of them out and yes, Internet marketing niche can be one of them if you know what you are talking about. Perform your keyword research. Keyword research is a bit wide here so you can read up at Keyword Research on Aff Boom.

Next, you must find products and services with affiliate programs to promote. I can see that you are already on Clickbank. Sign up for a few more. I would personally recommend ShareASale and PepperjamNetwork if you are planning to move outside the Internet marketing niche and not just focusing on selling eBooks and softwares.

You should now have your keyword list and your affiliate programs to promote. Now, you need a site or a page. A few sites where you can start your own sites or pages are Squidoo, Hubpages, Synthasite and Blogger. I would recommend using Blogger since you will be able to add contents easily without much hassle.

Start putting in contents. Contents can be anything from products reviews (affiliate programs), news regarding your niche and core information about your niche. If you are using a blogging platform like Blogger, you might want to avoid having a product review on each and every other blog posts.

Traffic is important but without a good presell copy, the traffic that you get to your sites will all be rubbish.

      Affiliate marketing presell copy styles:
Reviews - Include both positive and negative points about a product
Comparisons - Write about a few products together and compared the pros and cons
Direct selling - 4 elements that you must include in such a copy, what is it you are trying to recommend to your visitors, why is it for them, questions that they might have and how can they have it.

When writing articles, you must also perform some on page SEO such as placing keywords into your

Next up will be traffic building. If you want to build traffic with no money, the best method will be to do article marketing. Based on the keyword list that you have build up earlier (should be more than 100 keywords), start writing at least 2 articles for each of them and submit them to various article directories. Make sure to link back to your site using targeted anchor texts.

Set up accounts at various social bookmarking sites and start linking back to your site as well. Mix and mash a bit for your linking to make it seems natural.

For example, you are targeting the keyword "black singles online dating" for your dating sites review blog post, start writing articles and link back to the post using the anchored link "black singles online dating". Do the same for social media sites. You may want to use Social Marker for fast submission to social sites.

      THE KEY
Off page SEO is all about building links. Pages with the most authoritative links will rank higher and higher over time. Since you have the time, you should be able to crunch out at least 10 articles a day.

Time needed is approximately 6 months to make it big. However, if you are serious about it and keep the article submission activities going on, your articles will have a snowball effect in terms of traffic generation and you should be able to make some money before the 6 months period.

Sorry for the long reply but follow the guide as you will. If any of you guys reach this paragraph and wish to contact me for details, you can always PM me.

**I don't give fluffs. It is what it is! **

      Thanks.

        Hi,

The best way to get started is think about what YOU would buy online and your interest and hobbies first!

Form there you can have a look at what other people are selling and get some more ideas.

Although as a rule follow this:

Find lots of people with a problem, and provide a solution!

Yes, and try and stay away from the IM niche until you get to grips with it as there is less competing websites that way!

        Hope this helps!

Research/Keywords are the main things that you have to start with, narrow down the niche and make sure that the deman is there, then pick a product that people NEED and not just want, that make a big difference.

Then head on over to CB and see what is out there and just how popular these products are and what pays you the most, of course it has to convert very well or its worth nothing, but a waste of time.

definitely good advice from exrat...he was pretty throrough in his post. I was frustrated too and it took spending a little to get the knowledge I needed just to get started. Not a lot but you are going to have to spend a few hundred dollars on education.

You dont need high end products but lets say you will need assistance with copy writing. Go to Amazon after getting some author's name and see if he has a book there you can pickup for $25 instead of getting some of these $500 courses. The $500 course you can get when you actually make money.

FOllow the same principles with SEO, websites, templates.... Get what you can from here (forum) so you can minimize your learning curve. Maybe focus on a subject for 2 weeks and try it out. You dont have to be a master out of all of these it would be really difficult...

Read the forums but dont become a slave to them. Dont spend so much time reading that you are not acting...

I would work on something you are passionate about first. What are your interests or hobbies? When you find something YOU enjoy, it is musch easier to "market" it and you will find plenty to do with it (blogs, articles, e-zines, press-releases, etc.).

According to you, you've not been at this long enough to get frustrated. And that's good.

There is no magic way/pill to find out what products will sell. You need to do the research or go with your gut. Most people prefer to do the latter. Though doing so often backfires so, I'd suggest you do the former and go with proper research.

Also, there are a ton of ways to perform market research. Most people would suggest using keyword research tools, visiting forums seeing what people are interested in buying, asking your target market what they'd like to buy and so on. All this is good advice.

Some advice I would give you personally would involve how I perceive the art of research.

    Here goes...

One thing I do is apply one of the most obvious tactics which is to think hard about a service not being offered that I would like to see offered.

It's probably the oldest trick in the book.

The twist is that I ALWAYS base these desires on products or services that are crazy hot and selling like gangbusters already on their own. So, say for example, I notice that Nintendo Wii is selling hot and shifting tons of packages of their Wii...

I'd sit down with a Wii or sit around with Wiiniacs and watch them play, listen to them talk, listen to them gripe, listen to them wishful think, wishful think some stuff myself, play out some of my thoughts in my head to see what might be too far fetched (or not) to try etc...

So, if Wiiniancs are missing a vital service or product that nintendo has little or no knowledge of or interest in offering, then I ask a few of them if they would be interested in acquiring that product or service from little old me if I had it ready.

The secret to success with this tactic is to watch for your prospect's very first reaction.

It's usually the most reliable one.

Now, if offline research is too cumbersome for you, the Internet can also serve as a good "gripe locator"... What I do now is simply type in the name of the product I'm interested in along with the word "gripe" or "complaints" into google and then research what people are beefing about regarding the said product/service... If it's something I can afford to get a solution for and offer to the same "angry or otherwise inconvenienced mob", then chances are there is already a huge market of gripers (and perhaps non-gripers too) out there that if I can locate, would buy my solutions.

The advantage of searching for a resounding amount of gripes is that you save yourself the trouble of creating solutions to problems people don't even know they have or that they are not too concerned about solving... for example, in Nigeria where I live, mobile phone theft is rampant in the crowded city of Lagos. Yet, many people (myself included) don't ever bother to have the contacts on our sim cards saved for us by the many small companies and individual business owners who offer that service in case of loss or theft.

The latter is a great idea and a solution to a huge ongoing problem, but that's just what it is, a problem, it's not something users are particularly interested in solving by spending money to solve it (at least not yet). So a guy who rushes to set up a service to help these people will probably fail or at best not be a raging success.. Meanwhile if he bothered to find out by asking friends, co-workers and other colleagues or just listening out for people's gripes about a popular product or service, he stands a better albeit not 100% guaranteed chance of having a hit product on his hands.

Bottom line: To get a hot product or service, ask or otherwise research on a current hot selling product's or service's customers' gripes and complaints. If they are screaming and begging for solutions from the original providers (or for that matter anyone else), then they are asking someone to take their money in exchange for solutions.

It's not 100% guaranteed, but then virtually no product research is, it's part luck, part skill, part good timing etc... but this is a good place as any to start.

    Good luck,
