Mailchimp | A free Alternative to aweber!

While looking for an auto responder / email solution for a client's website, I came across this little gem:

Email Marketing and Email List Manager | MailChimp

which is the perfect solution for those starting out with their email lists. It allows you to handle up to 500 subscribers and send up to 3,000 emails a month for free, they don't even ask for a credit card.

They also carry wordpress plugins if you need them and a ton of other "form" solutions for your website.

I placed mine here - Underdog Motorcycles

Everything pretty much works like aweber, double opt in and all the other toys that we are used to.

Enjoy!

I'd highly recommended it, having used it for email lists of 7,000+.

You'll violate MailChimps TOS if you use it for affiliate
marketing I believe. if you just use it for promoting your
own business and products you'll be okay.

Check and make sure you aren't going down a road that
will have you losing your list.

    from MailChimp's Terms of Service:

Don't use MailChimp to send anything offensive, to promote anything illegal, or to harrass anyone.

    * In general, don't send anything you'd be ashamed to show your mother.
    * No Pornography
    * No campaigns selling illegal substances
    * No campaigns that violate the FTC's CAN-SPAM Law

Also, there are some industries that send certain types of content that result in higher than normal bounce rates and abuse complaints, which in turn jeopardizes the deliverability of our entire system. No offense intended, but because we must ensure the highest delivery rates possible for all our customers, we do not allow businesses that offer these types of services, products, or content:
    o Illegal goods or services
    o Escort and dating services
    o Pharmaceutical products
    o Get-rich-quick or work-at-home schemes
o Online trading, day trading tips, or stock market related content
    o Gambling services or products
    o Multi-level marketing
    o Affiliate marketing
    o Credit repair, get-out-of-debt content
    o Mortgages

Perhaps their prohibition of affiliate marketing is in the idea
of promoting affiliate marketing tools and training programs
    as money-making schemes.

Anyway, MailChimp seems to be a good provider and they
may overlook moderate affiliate marketing. They could also
just shut you down if they want to.

Mailchimp is a good service though. I use them for a 5,000 subscriber list. I don't know about an Aweber alternative... does Mailchimp have autoresponders?

I'm a fan of Mailchimp as well. They have a great feature set and interface, not to mention a sort of all around humor that makes it fun to use.

My only complaint (and the primary reason I keep my Aweber account as a backup for some projects) is that the minimum response time for an autoresponder is 24 hours. If you want to contact a subscriber immediately after opt-in with a report or gift, Mailchimp won't work for you.

Thanks, I was not aware of that.

The problem is the all around spam folder delivery rate.

    Hi,

This has been discussed a bit before, Thanks for the reminder.

We just have to be careful with these.

o Get-rich-quick or work-at-home schemes (funny how they link the two)
    o Multi-level marketing
    o Affiliate marketing

Several Warriors use them and I'm certainly going to use them also.

This is not expert advice as I'm not an expert, however, it's been said by others that they use them to send out information packed News Letters with a link to their page where they sell Work At Home or Affiliate stuff. They don't mention the product directly in the mail out.

You know how Makepeace starts a News Letter in the email and then has a read more link. When you click the link you see the rest of the article with whatever he is selling.
