What Repeat (revenue generating) Tasks Do You Give Full-Time Developers When They Have No Work Left?

Hi Warriors!

I have a publishing company and have a full-time developer that often don't have enough work to do.

On days when he runs out of work and tasks to do, I think he just sits around and doesn't do much. I like him and he does good work (and I want to keep him full-time) but obviously, this isn't a good use of company time, his time, or my money/investment into him.

So my question is, what repeat tasks can I give him when he runs out of work? Ideally these are would be tasks that generate revenue and he could keep turning back to when he runs out of work. I'd be interested in any and all revenue generating tasks online (even if they're not directly related to developing websites).

Thank you for your recommendations!

    Help us out here...

    What does your developer develop?
What is your line of business?

We're a publishing company. So when our company needs new pages on our sites, etc. he creates them. Or if I have a special functionality I need on a page, he creates it.

You still haven't told us what your business is, so it's hard to suggest any complementary activities that might add revenue.

If your developer is skilled in graphic design, a series of infographics could be useful in lead generation. If he's a competent writer, maybe he could compose email sequences to build customer loyalty or additional sales.

You'll just have to come up with ways you can use whatever skillset he has to the benefit of your particular industry/market/business model.

What does that mean? He comes up with the content too? He does the SEO for it? He creates the videos/ images / graphics?

Survey your paying customers. What else do they want?

Not even as additions to your existing product or product line... perhaps a new thing entirely. If it's complimentary to what you've got already, it could be a winner.

You could even get the existing clientele to pay for it to be developed.

Maybe you need a part-time developer instead of full time. Or a list of 'developers' who work on a per-job basis.

Or maybe you could brainstorm with your full time developer - tell him you may need to make a change - and see if HE has suggestions for additional work he could be responsible for.

      One goid advice.
      Include him in your planning.

Give him a bonus after he gives you ideas to improve your website funcionalities, for increasing your sales traffic.

Give him an idea that his ideas will worth more and that he can express his ideas on your website
