Is This The Real Secret To Making Money On The Net?

I was thinking about getting into a certain niche. I'm really passionate about this niche and I feel I could become so involved in it that I can brand myself in the niche. I feel this may be a better way for me to build a longterm business versus having a bunch of smaller lists.

Which one do you think is better for the long term, being in a bunch of small niches, or dominating one niche and becoming the go to guy for the niche?

Seems to me to depend on if the niche is a fad or not.

    **** berry <-----fad
    South Beach <-----fad
Web hosting <----not a fad, but ridiculously competitive.

If you can dominate web hosting, good lord, you're rich :-)

Some people make a living by going into lots of micro niches and some by dominating a niche they feel passionate.

If you feel passionate about something potentially profitable - I say: go for it.

There's not one strategy that is "better" than the other. It even depends on what your eventual outcome will be.

I used to dabble in lots of other niches myself as side projects when my day job was doing marketing for just one big company. Now that I'm in business for myself, I've decided that "marketing" is my market and for the moment, I focus on B2B doing contracting for business that can use my help.

My goal is to parlay that into packaging my knowledge and demonstrable experience into product form so that very soon, I can stop exchanging my time for money, and start exchanging copies of my knowledge for money instead.

But that's not to say it wouldn't be equally valid for me to take my marketing knowledge and rather than helping clients who need it, I could research their weaknesses and exploit them as a competitor. If I did that in just a few of the niches that my clients operate in, I could do very, very well.

There's also no reason I couldn't do both, outside of pissing off clients if I get into their same business.

It's all about choosing what you're comfortable with and what you feel like will keep you engaged enough to see it through. I know that in my career I always get sick of dealing with stuff I'm just not passionate about. I could always hand that aspect off to employees, but for me, I don't want to deal with that right now, either.

I want to make as much as possible, strictly from my own output. Once I have a name people recognize, and more importantly, a track record UNDER that name that I can use to promote myself, I may change my mind.

But I would say that if this is your gut feeling - follow it and see what happens. But don't say "no" when other opportunities come up. Always say "yes" and see what happens.

    Hope that helps.

  • How does "the secret" have anything to do with a question that gets answered over and over. Do I make a bunch of sites or one site.

Answer: You do whatever you can make work. both models work.

At the risk of terribly oversimplifying this, here is the real secret to making
      money on the Internet.

      1. Find out what people want that they're willing to pay money for.

      2. Give it to them.

I know how to do just that. This niche though is very sensitive, I have the possibility of dominating it and attaching my face to the niche.

I happen to be in many niches in one site and people stay on my website for hours. I have posted the stats on this site before,so I won't do it again. I have a work at home make money online site and there are a lot of ways to do that and I make money from all my niches on this site, although the primary focus is PIPS. You can blast this site but what I said is true. if you look at a lot of PIPS sites you will see people branching off and listing other programs they like all the time.
The way that I am able to do that is to provide many links from similar sites to the particluar directories that pertain to that subject and have reciprocal linking relationships with other similar sites.
Is it better to have one website for just one niche. Without question, yes. But the name of my website is WebSuccess4You which is really a broad name that can encompass just about anything that would bring you success on the web.And that is what my keywords are somewhat, so it all ties together in broad sort of way. You might say it is a bit of a directory for MLM
and affiliate programs that span the many different sections of a directory. Unfortunately,
I have not yet assembled the programs into a table. Now I have entered this discussion just
to show that it is possible to go broad as opposed to just deep, deep. But I would agree that is easier, unless you enter a niche that is grossly competitive.

Here is a saying that one of my marketing mentors always quoted when I would lose focus and try to chase after the next best thing...

It is better to be at the top in one rather that at the bottom of 5!

Instead of finding a niche, creating an offer for it, then rushing off to another niche,
find a target audience and build your business around a core group of subscribers, customers, affiliates and partners by offering multiple offers.

You don't need a gazillion niches to make a fortune online. You need one good target audience.
