Even 1 site can have multiple subdomains dedicated to separate niches.
Even 1 niche requires a lot of SEO work, design and maintenance, and ongoing marketing, following up.
In some cases, there is a benefit of having more than 1 website for SEO purposes.

I have no problem with multiple sites but most people shouldn't build them simultaneously; otherwise, you'll have multiple unfinished websites. Get one done up to at least 90% and start another.

We build multiple websites every year, however. One year, we built 100. Of course in that case, we were testing niche ides with advertising. We kept the top 20 that did the best with advertising and dropped/sold the rest. Then, after we knew that those sites would make money with advertising, alone, we concentrated one at a time, on different aspects - on page SEO for each one, one at a time, conversion optimization, one at a time, off-page SEO, one at a time.

Every website begins with the strategy around the audience then to a relevant domain purchase.

I have always had a knack for finding good domain names that were easy to resell that is fun for me.

.Coms are getting harder to find and I concentrate on them primarily. Not all lead to a website but sometimes can be flipped on their own in trendy niches.

I follow the types of starter no revenue websites on auctions that were recently sold all the time. Some people do this over and over as an income stream.

Every site I ever created had the thought of a potential future investor in mind.

They are indeed assets.

There was one financial website that was sold for 6 million dollars, now that is turning your one site into a hell of a business and by the time it was sold it had several employees working on it.

There are review websites, niche blogs, personal brand yourname.com sites, authority websites, ecom so many and we marketers wake up to new ideas almost every day.

We just have to put our all into each site but consistent monetization will be the key to a big lump sum payday if you ever decide to sell it.

There is no advantage maintaining 2 websites because you do get a extra flow of traffic.

It's better to focus and build authority on one website before you decide to branch out .

I would rather invest time and energy producing content driving traffic to 1 website. 2 websites is more work and it doesn't equate to more sales.

I think it all depends on the targeted audience and the market. Some firms can do with one site while others may need two or more.

I like to keep that a secret because a single number can reveal much about your business. A well co-ordinated, armada of sites can spawn multiple streams of income. The build it, set it and forget is a viable notion if done right. I knew people with 400 sites. Back then, a simple algorithm hiccup blew about ~85% of his websites.

For the start you should have just one site to practice, concentrate and develop it as good as you can. When you will be sure in your skils and knowledge you can have more, so you will be confident in your work

huh Seem like a lot prefer having more than 2 sites or more here base on the replies.
I don't know, I still prefer just one site.

In this moment i have only 1 site but unfortunatelly i lose 2 or 3 sites because i dont pay my host or domain in the past .If i have the old website i would make for sure 1k per month on passive income without doing nothing

I currently owned one website. Managing website needs time and resources. If you are a beginner then I would recommend you to start with a one website and scale it up.

Within the right niche and business model, one site can still be surprisingly fulfilling.
As others here have said - building it (and it alone) out is also a helpful focusing mechanism for someone new to the world of online business.

I have 2 websites. It is not about the number of websites one has but how well one utilizes or works on what one has.

At the moment I have one site, but over the years I have had many sites.
Maintaining one site is a lot of work and takes a lot of time.
Though I wish that I had just focused on one site over the years
right from the start. I think I would be seeing massive success by
now instead of being all over the place and experimenting with different
sites.

I'm quite happy just having two websites. It takes a lot of time to write content and manage all the links and promotions.

Better to be good at one or two than have many and getting nowhere.

I have 1 website for all the services and products. And 6 landing pages for specific products.


Its difficult to manage all these simultaneously, but, all good as of now.

For a newbie or beginner 1 site is all you need.
Once you generated a good income with it, you can think about starting another one

I owned 3 websites and currently doing SEO for 2 other websites. My Chromebook helps me to do it quickly.

I have just one site, which I'm making into an authority platform, and personally, whether or not I make sales from it is neither here nor there to me. Of course, it'll be an absolute bonus if I do eventually earn from it; but for now, I'm focusing on filling it out with good quality content and building my email list over time.

I don't believe in putting all of my marketing efforts into only my blog because I try to follow the Pareto Principle of the 80/20 rule as I do with all the other traffic sources that I use. Using this rule means that I won't get sick of the sight of my blog and it also ensures that I'm giving priority to other tasks related to my business.

I have 1 main site that I'm working from 2010 and it requires a lot of work to grow it...to bring sales and recurring revenue.

Focus on just one.

Unless you go into other niches, no reason to have multiple.

I reached 50 sites in my Google Analytics. I've allowed a lot of domains to expire though.


Right now I am focussing on 5 main sites. One is an unexpected cash cow. I did have a lot of relationship niche sites but they've pretty much died due to Covid (plus the move to Apps).

My best advice is that you should start for one website that you want to make grow and focus on that
one.One step ,then another. Or you could try two if you put the effort on both and see wich one performs better. You will always have time to add new webs based on your first successes, do not try 10 webs to start,your chances will decrease.Focus on quality

It depends on how much of work/effort is required for each site. I would focus on one at a time. Start, scale and once it is running/profitable and you can start looking at the next one.

Honestly I prefer just one site. I know a lot will claim better to have at least two or 3 even come adsense earnings will be better with 3 sites vs 1

Depends on the topic. Some web directory owners for example have two or more similar websites.

I own 2 websites for more than 6 years already. Believe me its NOT EASY!
As someone mentioned here build one that will bring profits on monthly basis and then start a second one if you want BUT keep in mind you will need AT LEAST one more person to help you. Otherwise no chance

I don't own any website.

In the past (20 Years ago) I had over 1.000 domain names and 100+ websites.
With each of them, I had plans, and with many, I made nice money.
in 2008 I made a change after a talk with an accountant, and he told me, pick your top 3 and sell the rest. Focus on them. I did and my revenue tripled.
Now in 2021 I just have one project, full focus and I see the result.

So my personal advice, if you don't know what to start, start several and look if you see traction, if one shows traction, choose that website to make your money.

I had one website in the past 15 years which functioned for around 3 years.

It sold digital products with clickbank as payment processor and affiliate network provider. I still have this two word internet marketing domain name. I was some what active in warriorforum then with another account which I don't remember the username and passwords now.

I made decent profit by selling digital products online but couldn't continue because of lack of time, I have my day job profession which requires at least 10 hours.

You should be able to dedicate enough time to sustain success as online entrepreneur.

Depends on your niches, you can't just put them in one basket. I own several websites, each has its own niche, services and ways of earning money.

I currently have one website but I have a bunch of domains that I've yet to use to create websites on them.

I used to have a couple of old sites but ultimately I had to let them go because I didn't generate enough traffic to it and my overall goals for those websites I never reached.

I'm pretty sure having one good site isn't bad but I wouldn't go against having multiple sites. I am actually about to open up my second site (PLR site) soon. The thing is, what's most important is to be able to take care of your sites. Don't throw up like 2 or 3 blog sites if you can't write (or hire) for every month (at the minimum) because that type of stuff will burn you out quick. Keep in mind, my example covers providing for 2-3 sites, not just one.

If anything I'd say to just do one and when that one becomes what you consider as successful, then you can move on to the next one. But doing them all at the same time isn't impossible. It just takes a lot of work.

I have 2 websites but purchased multiple domains from namecheap. With their stellar hosting I can have max of 3 so I plan to use 3 some time soon. But I plan to make even more websites since the process is pretty enjoyable and having multiple websites that I own sounds cool. I dont look forward to managing all of them though

I am having two websites. One is has been made with WordPress another with Weebly.
