Are You Running Your Own Affiliate Program?

What programs are you using (or would you recommend) for running your own affiliate program?

I have a Wordpress website that sells a single, physical product: a small gift book that especially appeals to mothers. I want to be able to recruit affiliates to help promote the book. However, it has proven difficult to find programs and plugins that integrate well with each other.

The major issues I have are:
  • Finding a way to automatically add customers' emails to a mailing list without them having to select a checkbox or take some other action. (I imagine with GDPR and other similar regulations being able to automatically add customers to a list may be a thing of the past.)
  • Being able to direct customers to my own thank you page without them having to click a button or take some other action to return to my site after their payment has been processed
  • Finding a reliable affiliate program/plugin to track affiliate sales, calculate commissions, generate basic reports and provide data for PayPal Mass Pay.
Here are the services and plugins I am currently using:
  • Thrive Themes
  • PayPal
  • E-junkie (for shopping cart and shipping calculations)
  • Mailchimp (for simple email management)
  • WP Affiliate Platform (for affiliate management)
I am not opposed to paying for reliable services; but I want to keep operations as lean as possible.

Thanks, in advance, for your insight and suggestions.

I've used iDevAffiliate for years now. Great support. Straightforward setup. It also gives you a bunch of options between text, link and banner ads. Just google idevaffiliate.

This is the most important moment actually. I'm selling my product since 2006 and still haven't found a decent 2 in 1 (affiliate+billing) solution yet... Any suggestions?

You can create the best affiliate program to promote your product or service. Hire the right affiliates and track their performance. Also, offer good rates so affiliates take more interest.

Running your own affiliate program is a VERY smart idea but don't even think about investing your precious time on creating it unless you have UPSELLS, DOWNSELLS, as well as CROSSSELLS because it won't be lucrative for affiliates for as long as you have a single product from my experience.

If you do have these in place I wish you the best of luck because you''ll be adding a great income source to your current setup.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Mike

      Can totally relate to that.

      Affiliates have choices.....why you?

Please newbies...do not get excited at all those JVZoo affiliate signups...they wont do a damn thing on your launch day that matters most. Most will be watching how much momentum YOU create then hop on the band wagon.

Get your own list and get them excited.....day one....launch day....can make you or break you. Taking action...yea its good but if you do not have a strategy in place you will be severely disappointed my friend.

That 80/20 rule still matters. You will have a couple guys/gals with a responsive list make you a ton of cash very quickly and alot of people make one, two or no sales at all.

I like to even share training with affiliates like the Master creator of The Truth About Abs....he consistently shared some incredible data with his affiliates on conversions to get to that almost a Million Dollars a Month milestone.

Having your own affiliate program is definitely a very good idea but that is very time consuming, meaning all the frontend and backend work needed for it.

Obviously, clickbank would come in mind because it is the most popular platform where you can easily find eager affiliates to do business with while clickbank take care of all the rest.

Having your own affiliate program / platform does mean to make your own distribution / promotion of your program. That means lot of money to spread the word.

For professional affiliate management, tracking, reporting, etc, etc...

The top 3 platforms are Cake, hasoffers(now "Tune"), and Hitpath. I have also worked with an advertiser that used Offerit and It was acceptable.

They should all have some form of a basic starter package. My preference is Cake. The link for their basic package is https://getcake.com/signup/

There are many options, but I recommend something like JVZoo, because just listing your product(s) there is likely to get you some affiliates, and other affiliates will be familiar with such systems, trust them, and so trust you more because you use them.

Plus you might sell some products directly on the JVZoo marketplace, without even needing to pay affiliate commission.

Plus, JVZooPay makes it less likely for you to get into problems with PayPal, as is relatively common if you have a more direct relationship with affiliates and customers.

JVZoo is easy to use, and integrates with various mailing-list management systems, plus you can use Zapier to integrate it with almost anything else you can think of.
