Reddit announced this week that they have acquired
video app Dubsmash, as Reddit looks to build on and expand its video options to users.
"Reddit is where passionate communities come together for authentic exchanges about the topics that matter to them. Video is increasingly core to how people want to connect, and as we continue to grow our community, we're committed to providing the best possible tools users need to find, create, and interact with one another through video."
Dubsmash is on a resurge, and has transitioned from a lip-synch app, to a more complete video app that includes dancing and remixes. It might not threaten TikTok's throne, but it's an alternative as Dubsmash sees more than a billion video views monthly.
