Incorporating a forum as a means to collect recurring payments...questions?

Hey I have a fairly successful WordPress site in which I charge a one-time fee for full access. I'd like to incorporate a forum in which I charge a monthly or yearly fee for. I'd like it so that they could still use their same username and password. However I want to make sure that the access is cut off once they stop paying.

I am aware of WordPress forum software. However I want to make sure that their access to the forum is solely dependant on whether or not they are active paying members.

Does anyone have experience in this type of thing?

Thanks!

    Just experience on forums.

I know you are trying to transfer data you already have but not aware of a platform that does that.

I think the forums that have the most success have a free membership then an upgrade to get to the juicy stuff just like here, Fast Lane Forum, Blackhat forums etc.

Another option would be a FB group or exclusive Mastermind.

Do you want to make paid SECTIONS on your side basically? I don't think you can make specific parts paid but rather on specific pages and/or categories.

The way my site currently works is that there is a free membership and a full access membership. Free members get access to limited content, and full access members get access to the entire site for a one-time fee. I keep adding new content regularly too.

It is a good business model, but I want to incorporate a recurring payment into the business somehow. I haven't had much luck just simply switching the current model to a recurring model, but I was thinking that I could make the forums to be an upsell.

One-time fee for full site access....recurring fee to join the forums where I provide direct help.

I already have a FB group, but I wouldn't want to have that for paying members only, because then I'd be relying on a platform that I don't own.

      Thanks for the reply!

Hey thanks for the reply. I was thinking that the entire forum would only be available to paying members of my site. I would be using this as an upsell to my current model

I envy you, you are def on the right track.

I notice a couple guys are having alot of success integrating a well paying affiliate program into the membership and most of the content is affiliate training anyway.

And they use that app that shows someone just made a commission...that definitely works haha.

Speaking of myself who owns a forum, l have given visitors a lot of content and entertainment value, but have held back on advise about making money, (well one way) so recurring visits take place and hopefully more signups.I may offer a one off payment, (like other investment youTube/Discord themed people do) for the methods l use in the near future, but time will tell).

Discord appears to be popular, (probably attaches to WP blogs) even though it has some drawbacks, (i prefer a proper forum format).

Hmmmm, not sure about that way. I belong to two, (well, one but l may join another for free) that both talk about online trading and both are run by successful traders.

Not sure how the second one makes money, (he is a self made millionaire) but the first has a free section where mainly newbies post about what they are trying to do, with the owner offering the occasion video and token advise.

You have to spend $300 as a one off payment to see him in real time, and to get direct advise, (although not always).

Not sure which way l would go, it all boils down to perceived value, and helping to make money for others so they won't really care about the yearly costs.

Took me a long time to figure out how to get new, quality signups, which members are really not going to bother doing, (apart from word of mouth) unless you moderate or own it.

And l cannot really help further without knowing what area you are in?
