A site like TMZ actually pays for alot of photos and tips but you can always let others do the heavy lifting and "curate" infotainment. Much like Yahoo that seldom creates unique articles but collects a ton from other sources.


I think there is more potential content than you can handle.

But seriously sounds like fun, something you never get bored with, and profitable if you structure it just right.

Why should people want to listen to you and your opinions? What value do you bring? Why is your perspective important?

I follow several movie/show commentators on YT, don't watch them every day but tune in once in awhile. One I even ran across the opening sting music for going through YT's royalty free music. Why do I subscribe to them? Because initially I was searching for something, probably an explanation or analysis for a show (Season 1 of Castle Rock comes to mind), and found a) they were informative not just glossy, and b) I liked their presentation style. So I stuck with them and now when they have content about an upcoming movie or show it's "news" to me.

So I recommend you start with that. What are you going to bring to your viewers?

I wouldn't worry that it's a crowded marketplace...there's plenty of attention to go around. But I would pick my topics carefully. It's time-consuming to watch these movies and shows, come up with your analysis, then shoot the videos. Hook onto something that's already popular.

When I searched for an analysis of Inception recently, because I had just watched it for the second time since it came out and wanted some more depth, a bunch of videos came up. I noticed each had 30K+ views. Just for some guy or gal talking about a popular movie. That's way more views than my interviews with scientists, military officials and business founders get--which I have to dig for, connect with the person, sometimes convince them to be a guest, THEN figure out the show and do it; it's a lot more work. Why did the movie commentators get so many more views and have to do less work than I do? Because they hooked onto a popular topic. And it's just passively sitting there. It doesn't need to be convinced to participate.

One of my more popular videos is about AMC's The Terror, season one. I'd read the Dan Simmons book a couple years earlier, and knew the history. Making the video was just for fun, but it got a lot more views and continues to get views because it's a topic people search for. So do some investigating on what people search for. Profit Traveler has it right with the "ending explained", "such-and-such analyzed" stuff. You can always pick a major target and set yourself against it, too... I know a game reviewer who has made a career out of hating Konami. Never a dull moment when your opponent is always coming up with new content you can make reaction videos to.

As for the "if you structure it just right" thing, I have to say I dislike that. Of Course "if you structure it just right" the thing will work. What does that mean?

In my experience, you have to have a way to get some viewers off the YT channel and onto your distribution channel.

Sure, you can sling ads and get paid to do that. But real money is in Conversion: selling something directly to your viewers.

I'd concentrate on building an audience first, though, and finding out who and what you attract in comparison to what you started out planning to attract. Then you can adjust what offers you show them to reality.

Why don't you get influencers to comment on what they thought of the movie or show! Example The rock thought this of XYZ ..Or the Rocks movie playlist not his movies what he is watching.

maybe affiliate marketing, social media marketing , probably ad networks which can make you great income , tried to open that site wich you marked its didnt opened so dont know for sure ...just gave u few examples ,hopefully will help u )

In terms on content get in touch with production companies and distributors and ask to receive there EPK.

This will give you quotes and stills from the new releases.

Build up a half decent audience and you can start to attend media days. These media days are great for getting your own content.

Quizzes and the like are a great way to promote your site, keep people on your site and potentially earn.

In terms of income diversify with ads, pod etc

I can put here my thoughts if you like, what i did in the past is i never used streaming type word or live streaming in my articles. Moreover, you should post about 35 articles in different language to get monetization. That's what i did and got the approval in past. Nowadays i can't guarantee you this method really work or not.

Of course, you can hang ads and get paid. But the real money comes from conversion: selling products directly to the audience.
