This is a tough one. I guess the first thing to do is to "will" yourself to believe that things could not be that bad. Because feelings of desperation are counter-productive. It robs you of the initiative to do something; it freezes your mind and paralyzes your body, robbing you of the will to move, to do something.

I suggest to find a quiet place and asses the situation at hand and find ways to get out of it real quick. You must have a lot of things you can use to survive the day. They may not be online marketing. That takes too long to get ripe for the picking. Do something that can give you cash now and today.

If that means washing dishes at a McDonald's outlet, then so be it. If push comes to shove, it is still better to get dirty than go hungry.

The best way for ANY OF YOU no matter what you do, to make money. Is get up and get out there, You could be good at:

Photo designs,
Video-editing,
Web-design,
Logo design,
Copywriting,
Software design,
Search Engine Optimization,
Banner Design,
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah.......

It does not matter what you do, again ITS UP TO YOU or the team you outsource it to for pennies. Simple instructions that will get you by and GIVE YOU a substanable living no matter what you specialize in...

Forget keyword research, do some leg work and meet REAL BUSINESSES that may or may not need your service (just like your online visitors). No matter what you will gain some VALUABLE INSIGHTS into each business and I'll tell you why.

You approach these business owners by saying your doing some research on your specific "niche" and would like to ask some questions... No matter what DO NOT SELL HERE.

Once finished simply say thank you and ask for their details so you can send them the finished results of your research. You may or may not leave your contact details with each business (I was selective and I'll tell you why).

You have questions and you have answers, you know how these businesses responded to each of your questions and you have seen their reactions.

Now simply deliver your finished article "research" based on your research or loosely on it that offers your product as the end result whatever it may be.

I was selective on who I gave my contact details to as I knew a few were big players within the community, I could tell from their reactions they was interested in what I had so I made sure to leave it (I write it down on a piece of paper for them), I have become the local hero simply because I offer solutions. This may seem like alot of work but lets look at my facts:

2 days walking business to business (Fun I learned alot ).
1 day preparing article.
1 day preparing emails/payments/websites
1 days testing

send out autoresponder/email whenever your ready, mark it as RESEARCH COMPLETE. I recieved

Its simple

Ask questions face to face (trust)
Show end result (Funnel)
Offer Product/Service/Solution (Customer)
Complete Work ($$$)

It took me a week to achieve 20 customers from 1 shopping district, I only went out twice and achieved 20 customers all refferring more and more. and i've earned over $2450 with monthly payments of $400. my payouts each month, hosting mainly as i design and do all work I charge for with no outlay so only $24.99 on reseller hostgator account. (peanuts I know).

Look if you can afford $9.99 a month invest in hostgator, design a site, research by foot, give some information and away you go. takes less than a week and if your quick even less.

Get out and start earning now, think outside the box and you can scale this up.

Honestly if you are in a real crunch the best thing to do is to find things you can sell first, then find services you can sell to people, then if you find that service is working, look to leverage that service to bigger clients, and when you have saved up some money think of a more passive income.

Lastly, and this I mean sincerely, if you don't consider the internet business a grind from hell then don't get in it. We all work extremely hard so don't think the 4 hour work-week. That crap sounds good in a book, but less than 1 in 100,000 can make it, and that number is reasonable.

Don't be afraid to get a job if you are stuck in a business with little upside, no benefits, and no time.

First of all it's not your fault but you have to work your way out this. What are all your options I mean all of them. There is a way out of this situation find it. That's the challenge when we are at our lowest we have to shake it off like a dog shaking water off.

When you are cornered come out fighting. You come out of that corner with a new resolve and a new direction. Find the help you need to take that first step. Someone will lend a helping hand. You can't quit and just take it. If you've hit bottom spring forth, gather your strength we are all stronger than we think bring up your inner resolve.

If you still think you can't then the only thing that you can do without any investment is get an online job as a VA or start article writing for cash. Great thread, so much helpful advice. This is the 2nd time reading this thread and I just want to add one thing to all the previous posters excellent advice and that is:

1. Have a BUSINESS plan

2. Have a MARKETING plan

Without both of these it is like going to a place you have never been to before without a roadmap.

I see threads all the time on the WF with posters complaining about not making any money online and I bet if you ask them if they have the two plans above they will say no.

A huge part of being a successful business owner online or offline is taking the time to create your roadmap so that you can follow it to success.

The second bit of advice is to always be learning. In my humble opinion you are never done learning about how to run a successful business. Read books, subscribe to business magazines, attend seminars and webinars - learn and APPLY what you learn to your business.

You have to have a business owners' mindset in order to make money online. Too many people come with the idea of making quick money and don't realize that in order to make money you have to treat your activities like a REAL business.

OH....and one thing else

Learn from those who are successful making money online find one or more successful warriors and follow what they do...read their threads and learn. There are lots of threads offering free advice on this forum, take the time to explore them and latch onto someone that you find offers excellent advice time after time. If they offer coaching, invest in your business...save up if you have to until you can afford a coaching program or a mentor. I have a couple of mentors that I have been learning from over the years and what I have learned from them is invaluable. You simply cannot put a price on the value of having a good mentor or coach because having one or more of these is just part of your education process along the road to making money online.

1) if you live near a lake, pond,ocean you could catch- cat-fish, crayfish..ect
sell them to local fisheries or on the side of the road.

2) you could simply gather tropical fruit (Watermelon)..ect and sell them to your local stands or flea markets.

4) walk around your neighborhood with a lawnmower asking to cut grass

5) walk around asking to help remove snow from walkways in the winter

In though times, the best thing to do is to take things calmly, despair make you think everything in a very negative way, and in that stage the worst thing to do is hear to yourself.
First you need to relax, understand the stage you are struggled in, and take things calmly. Taking some days - weeks off to clean your mind also helps a lot.

Sometimes is better to lose two weeks of online work, and give your brain a deserved vacation to relax. When you come back I can assure you that you will take the though time with more respect, and fresh - positive - ideas to work into.

I'm now in a sort of desperate situation. No money for food or gas and I'm struggling. This situation began because I was bold: I thought I would make money online. My dream of making dollars with websites brought me to almost poverty.

But this is a good thing! Because it made me grow and understand my mistakes. Also, finding solutions is pretty more simple if you are desperate, if you are willing to think positive!

Sell a service, give lessons to kids, find a commission based job, but forget about IM! If you want to pursue an IM career, you need to be financially stable. You need to have the money to pay for food, utilities, shelter and transportation, otherwise you will struggle. Also, exercise! It will keep your brain active and optimistic.

My wife started a 24/7 yard sale group on Facebook just before Christmas and was able to make 300.00 in 2 weeks selling our used junk.It gets bigger every week and we do OK. I am now sourcing cheap pc mice,watches,etc...from eBay and selling them on the group I have sold everything I have purchased for a profit.My wife has got so well known for good deals that her inbox is full of people wanting to know if we have this or if we can get that.

Okay, at the end of the day you need 3 things...

1) Prospects (leads)
You need a landing page, (a.k.a. leads page, flycatcher page, squeeze page) to build a list of interested prospects in the market you decide to venture into. Give them a good free offer. Spend time doing a lot of detailed research and look at other free offers in your market. You just have to be a little bit better than them. Get this part right and you'll have much better success.

2) Product to sell
Nothing wrong with promoting affiliate products to your list until you decide you want 100% of the profits from your list and start creating your own products.

3) Conversion
Separate the buyers from the prospects on your list. Your goal is to constantly turn more prospects into buyers. Market to them in a genuine and honest way and help them achieve whatever they are wanting within the scope of your niche.

Conversion also constitutes tracking your landing page results. Make subtle changes to try and improve your optin conversion.

That in a nut shell is it...

Everything else like blogging, article writing, reviews, SEO are all just ways people get traffic.

And if someone is really in a pinch, I'd advise them to take a trip around their house and find some things they no longer use or no longer want, then sell those things locally on Craigslist, or list them on Ebay. There is always someone out there looking for the things you don't want, and you'd often be surprised what they'll pay for it. Best of luck to all.

Does it seem reasonable to create 20 blogs / month from scratch for offline customers:

1) Find them (a simple ad could bring leads) customers
2) Meet them and explain them what is it you offer for free (2 hours between driving back and forth and meeting with customer)
3) Create blog / website
4) 2nd meeting with customer to deliver finished product

All of these for 50 - 100 $ a piece?

yeah it costs $40 bucks. But you could make $40 bucks online darn quick - fiver, writing articles, sell a product on your site for $5.

You have to spend some money. Well I guess you don't "have to" but it will make it easier if you do. Besides its not even really like spending money because you get that money back.

Your time is far more valuable than money.

If you are flat broke then offer services like I said. The problem with offering services is that you are limited by the amount of hours you can put in. By selling a product you spend the time making it and then sell it over and over, giving you the time to keep on creating products.

On a related note I find that people think making money online is some sort of quick fix. While you can succeed quickly its not like you just do one thing and pow your rich. You actually have to work. You can work smart by creating massive value and helping other people out.

What I think is a big problem is that people do not take internet marketing seriously enough or that their mindset about marketing online is skewed. Think of it like any other business. Who goes into business thinking they are going to make a whole bunch of cash overnight, without spending any money, and without a business plan? It just doesn't work that way.

I have just made 130 dollars offering my services on Fiverr and Elance for past two or three weeks. I spend maybe one hour a day, 3-4 days a week working on orders, I bet if I did some promotion and accepted offer that number would double.
