[QUOTE=Michael Worthington;1410613]Ok, we need money. Fast.

How much? Nobody has specified, nor has anyone said
how short our time limit is.

For the sake of the thread, let's just go for it... as
much as we can make in as short a time as possible.

Great advise would love to know more ideas I am totally new to this area...

Re: What to do if you're desperate

Thank you Paul for starting this thread.

I see a lot of advice here from people who have obviously never been desperate but some of it is good. And the ones from those who have actually been there are even better.

But I'll tackle this from another angle: What do you do if you are desperate, in a foreign country, can't work and can't go home?

You go to the internet.

And contrary to what a lot of you are saying, you can make money online without any money. I did it and made enough to get me out of a jam and keep my family afloat.
The solution is to offer services. I love to write. So I began freelance writing. There are sites like Get a Freelancer that are not as demanding and structured as Demand Studios for instance and though you might set out with peanuts at first, if you are consistent, you will make contacts who will give you more jobs at better prices.

From there I moved on to paid blogging. Well, not moved on exactly as I still freelance. But I could afford a dot info site (which is just $2.17 on Godaddy) searched for cheap hosting and applied to several paid blogging networks. I did not get accepted in most, but I did get some and the money I made from them was good.

Some sites to consider include:
1. Blogsvertise
2. Sponsored Reviews
3. PayU2Blog
I made the most money from these.

Others you could try include reviewme.com, buyblogreviews.com, socialspark.com, blogadvertisingstore.com

There are many others so do your research. When you decide you want your blog, go to wordpress. It does not have to be anything complicated so you do not need a website anybody. Learn how to work with wordpress.

I have now moved again to selling PLR packs and the income is slowly trickling in. I have adsense on my blogs and that too, is making something small. So I have several streams which are all bringing in something.

I don't care what anyone says, if you are hungry enough, and desperate enough, and down to $0.00 with a baby to feed, you can make the internet work for you. Just my 2 cents.

PM me if you want a romantic fiction ghostwriter.

Re: What to do if you're desperate

These may have been posted before but here goes. Chances are, if you are posting on Warriorforum, you've done some sort of SEO/AM campaigning and know a little bit about gaining residual income through selling off cheap automated services. Here are a couple ones, if you are REALLY desperate:

1. Content writing and posting

You can write articles through Fiverr and other similar marketplaces and sell them anywhere from 5-20 dollars an article, depending on quality and niche. If you have access to a blogfarm or your own websites, you can also sell linkspace on your websites, or post their articles to your blogs. Microblog farms with PR 1-3 can make a decent amount of money if you just turn them into article hubs.

2. Social bookmarking spamming:

If you've already incorporated BookmarkingDemon or SENuke, some sort of blasting automation program, you can sell your knowledge or services to other people. Because you already know how to operate it, you can sell your services to other people for cheap prices, and overtime you can rack up a decent amount of customers.

3. Website building:

Pretty straight forward, just build some basic websites through wordpress. Make it clean with a nice theme, install all the plugins for them, write an initial 1-3 articles, and then sell it off for $100-200 to some lazy SEMs who have the upfront money and are too lazy to do it themselves.

Those are a couple examples, I'm sure you can figure out more as you go along. Best of luck to all of you who are willing to do these menial tasks, but hard times calls for desperate measures.

I'd like to note though, that it is during these times of hardship that people find opportunities to follow their bigger dreams. For some people, that means going to college, and for people like us, its going through with that dream campaign that we've always wanted to do.

writing articles online is an easy job to do and earn money easily or you can make up your own website but it would take some time though, like building backlinks and all..

If i was on the verge of getting kicked out, etc. This is the BEST way i know of getting money. Be careful as i don't want this to catch on too much because it might take the thunder out of people who really need it.

1. Think of ANY entertainment skill you have. Telling Jokes, Dancing, Story Telling, Working out, Standing on your head, MMA fighthing, Playing with your dog, Playing an instrument, Traveling around your neighborhood (showing people the sites), etc, you should get the point

2. Hopefully you have a camera or something to record with on your computer ect. Make 20 (7 minute videos).

3. At the end of the video, explain what your situation is (just like you would do here on the WF: "I'm about to get kick out ....")

4. Make a Paypal Donation Button and Put the Link (visibly) in your description box.

5. Ask each viewer to donate .25 cents to help you cause (or more$).

300 people that donate .25 cent is $75 x's 20 videos= $1500 (if you could really help the viewer to understand your need i believe many would donate $.25 cent).

6. Put 1 of the videos on Craigslist each day in the Freebies Section "Freely Help Us Were Almost Homeless!" (use your imagination and make the post stick somewhere).

Purchase Traffic to your videos if you can afford it.

7. Pray!

Okay first you need to change your mindset about money.Resources about that are many (You can search for "the secret" and subscribe for their newsletter its free)

Then find an WSO for cheap dollars that promises urgent income and make sure it has many comments from other members.

Review the comments and see if you can fit in, if yes cool pay for it and act it out like crazy.
Or just read through this thread pick only one method not two that you think you can be good at and act

Sell textbooks on amazon. There's a fortune to be made. Those things hold value for a long time.

I just would like to say that being desperate is not the right mindset to be in. I have been there (not just because of money), but it blocks all positive things on your way.
You definetely need to change your mindset to positive thoughts and you need to start believing in yourself. It's easy to say, but you have to experience it to understand it!

If you have a Internet Connection, open a account on Fiverr and YouLoveHits, get seeds at YouLoveHits.. Sell Facebook Fans on Fiverr. $5 for a 100 facebook fans..

This can be scaled up.

Good luck

Learn a skill and then sell that skill on the internet. Once you have made a few hundred then create an information product and sell that.

I agree with this idea to a certain degree. I think what the absolute best thing for people to do is just find an internet marketer who's making the type of income they would like and then just copy there whole business model. Like ask them a ton of questions, pay them for training, and just take in as much knowledge as possible. Their words are gold and this is exactly what I did. If you copy someone's exact model to make money online, why would you not be just as successful? It may take some time for you but it took time for that person as well. So my advice is to invest in a coach and copy their whole business model for making money online.

Give lessons.
If you are good at something, sell your knowledge.

Piano lessons, trumpet, guitar or any musical instrument you are good at.

Sports: tennis lessons , baseball/softball : Pitching, fielding and hitting. Football : pass catching/route running , running back play, qb'ing throwing etc. basketball : shooting, free throws, low post play, defense. And other sports.

Tutoring : Math, chemistry, history,

Test prep for GED, CDL (commercial drivers), SAT/ACT , AP, CBEST, Praxis, GRE, CLEP,DSST. Computer certs, Real estate exams. And so on.

Also feed your mind. If you have any spare time, learn something. The library is free to use, but I pay for it with my taxes, so you use it already! Ok? Why do I say this? Well here is a small post I wrote on my blog explaining my thinking.

Simplest way to be an expert in any area

This is something I heard a few years back and it stuck with me. It was a quote someone made, but I have not idea who made it or how exactly how it goes, so I will paraphrase it.

"If you read 5-10 books on any given subject, you will know more about that subject than 95% of the population."

And if you really think about it, it totally makes sense.Looking at myself, I've coached baseball in the past and have read more than 5 books on coaching baseball. When I've come to implement some of those ideas, parents and coaches were blown away by my knowledge of the game. I didn't invent baseball, but I educated myself on many facets of the game, that gave me a distinct advantage over many of my peers.

This can be easily applied to making information products, blogging and many other things. Instead of sitting down and watching TV or playing video games, check out a book at the library and feed your brain.

What do I read?

Well, find something you are passionate about. Or if you are looking to make an info product, check out the news and see what the headlines are.

Just today these are the subjects I ran across:
  • Jobs
  • iPad
  • iPhone
  • Android phone
  • Autism
  • Antidepressants
  • tax audit
Just look at the few ideas there for and info product. iPad-iPhone: Tips and Tricks, develop apps, productivity using these tools etc. Jobs: Killer resume guide, interviewing lessons, how to KEEP your job. Autism and antidepressants: Guide to natural remedies . Tax Audit: How to avoid one. Android: See iPad-iPhone.

So there you have it. There are a few ideas on how to be an expert in any given area and capitalize on any current trend.

Hope that helps and best of luck and God bless those of you who truly need this thread.

Trying to find someone who will lend you some money is a good idea, but most of the people I know are struggling themseleves. The fastest way I know of is to offer a service like ghostwriting on Elance or being an online broker. The cool thing about services is that you get paid via Paypal.

Another thing you could do is start a mastermind group and just huddle up a group of warriors so you could all start brainstorming. Two heads are better than one and this is what I hear most of the advanced warriors do. People need people in this industry and if you don't ever get a coach or someone else to hold you accountable/help you on your journey to make money online, then you may get stuck purchasing info products for a long while..

An immediate form of income, and the way I started my IM career, is to simply offer services. What are you good at?

Writing=articles, ebooks, autoresponder series, etc.
Research=are you great at sniffing out good niches? This was the first service I offered, and I'm still doing it!
Software=if you have software to submit links, RSS feeds or articles to various sites, offer that as a service.

Take a look around the WSO's and the WF Classifieds...find services others are offering and offer them if it is something you have the capacity to perform.

It's money directly into your Paypal account and if you do a great job, you'll have MANY repeat customers.

P.S. It's my personal opinion that EVERYONE who receives payment via Paypal should have a Paypal Business Debit Card. It takes days to transfer money from your Paypal account to your bank account where you can access it. When you have the Debit Card, every sale you make is IMMEDIATELY accessible, as long as it's not an echeck (I don't accept those at all anyways.) Having the Debit Card can allow you to have funds immediately available upon making a sale, and when you're desperate, that's priceless.

Wow this has helped me so much, thanks again.

First, know what are your capabilities and make it as your capital. Second, know what you want to do, you can never be successful on something if you don't put all your heart into it. Third, gather your resources and make a clear goal ahead of you that you want to reach or obtain. If one is desperate, the tendency is that you make rush decisions which is not really good.

I have a TON of ideas on how to make some quick money here's one of them:

1. If you don't own Dragon Naturally Speaking yet grab a copy at Tiger Direct or on eBay (no sense in paying retail). Tip: You don't need the lastest version, I have DNS 8.0 and 9.0 on two different computers and it works just fine (after initial training). You don't need DNS, but it helps tremendously with productivity if you're going to write large amounts of content.

2. Go to the WSO section and go through offers where people are offering either writing services, articles, and/or PLR content. Focus on the ones with a lot of views and a lot of positive comments. This will give you ideas on what makes them successful.

3. Offer a WSO to sell articles (either as a service or as PLR material). Here's one example: I made $900 in one week by offering different sets of articles in 4 different niches. I offered 15 PLR articles in 4 different niches to a maximum of 25 per niche (that's 100 total). It took me two days to do all the writing (researching and then writing and then editing for spelling and grammar). Though this was years ago, people are still doing this today. Though only a few are doing it effectively.

4. Then run over to the Warriors For Hire section and offer your writing and researching skills. You can offer the first 5 or 10 clients a whopping 25 to 75% off your normal price so that you can get testimonials.

5. Trust me when I say this. If you're going to do this you MUST be 100% honest, ethical, punctual, always keep the client in the loop, offer samples of your work, and don't sell yourself short. Know when to give discounts and know when to stay your ground. Good competent writers are hard to find. I should know, I've gone through about 40 of them just this year alone! When I find a good one I want to keep them busy!

6. Make it known that you're willling to write content for a membership site, blog, or whatever on an on-going basis for a flat monthly fee. I've got one writer right now that I pay a nice weekly sum for cranking out content to a variety of my blogs.

There are plenty of marketers that look for good writers from time to time and this forum is just only one place to look. You can list yourself on Elance.com, Guru.com, DSP, etc. Just beware of the ones that aren't willing to pay for top quality. Some marketers are really cheap and only want to pay a buck or two for a 400-500 word article that is not PLR. That is ridiculous.

If you're willing to work hard you can be earning anywhere from $500 to $2000 a month in about a month. This is truly based on your efforts, the quality of your work, and your ability to network. This is a good way to get some "seed" capital to start another income stream or to pay some bills.

One last thing, as you write more and more you will find that you will be able to write better AND faster. Even though I have writers on my staff, I love to write and use DNS virtually everyday and I've got trained now where I can type with my voice at more than 175 wpm! Cranking out an e-book or a long report in one day is VERY possible.

The possibilities are endless.

RoD
Excellent advice..

I'm always looking for good writers, if anyone follows this advice.. contact me

Cheers,

~Gary

Sorry, i disagree with you since you make it sound too easy.

You mention sites like elance, freelancer etc. which are full with the cheapest of the cheapest writers from 3rd world countries...so go ahead and offer writing services where you spend HOURS a day writing and then charging a max of $2/pop for your articles since MANY will not pay you more...

The same is true for all the webmaster forums where there is extreme competition and cheap writers under-bid themselves offering writing services for $2/500 words and similar....hardly a work which i consider "profitable" or even remotely attractive.

If you want to make good money writing you need:

a) Stay away from those places like freelancer, olance etc.
b) Have a GOOD rep as a quality writer with some history and satisfied clients
c) Offer something better than your average "ezine" articles for $2/pop..that is, technical ebooks, web content and similar
d) target serious businesses (website owners etc.) and not the many people who are looking on freelancer sites and forums for the cheapest of the cheapest articles.

I just want to point out that it's NOT that easy as you make it sound to start offering writing services unless you can offer something different and BETTER than those cheap writers.

Georg, I understand where your coming from, but this isn't the place to make that argument, IMO.

Check the subject line of the thread again...

"What to do if you are desperate"

There's a huge difference in the mindset of someone needing cash fast to keep the lights on and that of someone trying to build a sustainable business.

Something many other posters also seem to forget...

There's a product called easy video blueprint which basically shows you how to get your videos ranked high in youtube. It's a lot easier to get videos ranked versus websites and I'm not trying to promote the product in any way (it doesn't even have an affiliate program) but I am saying that by following the methods it lays out, you can have a profitable online business in no time since you could easily generate a lot of traffic with the amount of visitors you'd be getting to your videos. Service sites are nice, but I believe we would all like a taste of automated income which basically comes from websites, articles, and videos with a high PR or ranked high because of optimization. Optimization has amazing benefits which I'm discovering right now as we speak. You can easily get on the fast track to building a successful online business when you optimize your articles, websites or videos to the best of your ability.

There are no easy and quick solutions, there is only consistent work and effort that will withstand the test of time.
More than one Warrior has commented that IM generally can't be relied for fast cash (offering services or selling on eBay notwithstanding). I totally agree.

Many may disagree with me, but I generally think it's a bad idea to try to start a business when you're completely broke and can't even put food on the table, gas in your car or keep your phone turned on. Of course there are always exceptions (like offering some type of service), but they are EXCEPTIONS.

I lost my job a year and a half ago and though I've had some temp jobs, I hadn't found anything permanent. The last 18 months have been ROUGH and I'm indebted to my family for their help.

However, I just found a job that I think will last (finally!). The pay is really crappy, BUT it's a true, work-from-home job (tech support for Verizon) and I'm THRILLED about it. I had to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale every day for 6 weeks of training and hated every minute of it. But as of yesterday, I'm working from home full-time. Yay!

I have some physical problems which inhibit my mobility, so working from home is a HUGE benefit for me (not just a luxury). I don't make much, but it gets me off of unemployment and it's more than unemployment. And working from home gives me a lot of flexibility, not to mention a steady paycheck, even if it's not a lot.

Aside from general personal services (lawn-mowing, personal errands) or IM services (writing, etc.) it's difficult to try to start a business if you're desperate, especially if you're hoping to start an IM business! No matter what business you start, you 1) need generally money to do it, even if it's not a lot and 2) you're in a very weak position if you're desperate. Potential clients and customers can smell fear and desperation.

If you're truly desperate, one of the smartest things you can do is put your IM dreams temporarily on hold and go get a job, even if it's just at McDonald's. (And yes, I know jobs are scarce and hard to get right now. BELIEVE me, I know! But I'm speaking in the context of starting an IM biz.) Something that will feed you, keep gas in your car and your phone turned on. I'm talking the VERY basics here.

Once you've got that covered, even if you're still mostly broke , then go for it! Pursue your IM dreams with a vengeance.

It can seem like you're going backwards if you shelve IM for a while and go get a JOB. I wanted to cry many times since that's exactly how I felt. But serious, responsible business owners (or business-owners to be), realize that they must sometimes make hard choices and they make the responsible choices, even if they're not very sexy.

I'm finally getting my feet back under me and once I get caught up on a few bills and settled into my job (i.e. past the 90-day probation period), I'll be attacking IM again with a vengeance.

I know this isn't a shiny, sexy answer, but I hope it helps.

Paul
Most have covered this topic fairly well. I can relate to this situation because more than once in my life I have been in just a 'tight spot". Sometimes we need to think outside the box and take bold action. I have done what many have suggested with very good results ... found something to sell and went out and sold it mainly door to door.. And if necessary I would do it again ... however I would also look into starting my own business where I can either hire employees or independent contractors to work for me.

There are tons of Network Marketing Companies one can choose from but that may not be a good direction for everyone. Anyway I am going to share with you a method of raising capitol for your business. You don't need assets, credit or a proven track record.

However you do need a good plan and you must have the ability to convince individuals (not banks or institutions) that what you have is profitable and of course you must have some integrity. This also will take some leg work but it will be rewarding.

Everyone knows our economy is very bad and people who are working (yes there are people who still work and many have pretty good jobs) are finding there retirement money dwindling. There IRA accounts are losing money in most cases and at best are earning 1-2 percent interest.

What a lot of people do not know is that they can move there retirement into what is called a self directed IRA. They then have the ability to invest there retirement money as they please but they cannot use for there own investments and the investment.. including earnings .. have to stay in there IRA until they are 59 1/2 years old. So in most cases they need long term investments.

The best part is there are tons of companies that will do the paperwork so that they can create a self directed IRA withing a few days.. about a week or so. Now if you can convince them that you have a profitable plan they can invest in you.

I just helped my nephew do just that to start his business. I am in the processes of doing it now in order to jump start another business that I have. Also do not think you could never do this. When my nephew called and asked me how could he raise some capitol to start his business when he had no money, no credit and at that time he was still living with his mother.

He took what I told him and went to his aunt (my sister) and convinced her to switch to a self directed IRA and invest in his company. Just as a note I could not go to my sister because the laws regarding investment accounts would prohibit her from making a loan to her brother (not that my sister would invest in me. She has seen me fail at lest 10 times more than I have succeeded ... however she did come to me for advice before investing in our nephew)

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is ask ... what can you lose? Ask Big what can you lose? Get knowledge and use it!! This is knowledge ... use it. One thing about my nephew when I explained this concept he did not waste time researching he acted ... he did not worry about how bad the economy or the fact that his aunt looked to be struggling financially ... I told him he needed someone with a stable job who has been working 10 -15 years minimum and who has at least 5-10 years before reaching retirement age.

Whats in a persons retirement account has nothing to do with there current financial situation. They could be losing there home or be in bankruptcy but have money in an IRA account.

One more point if you do this you should offer to pay 7-8 percent interest. If you do this they will double there investment within 7-8 years and that is simply not going to happen with a standard IRA.

Re: What to do if you're desperate

I can relate to this topic because I lived it once in my life.

If you're good at something offer a "sample" for free or reduced price. Then ask for referrals to their contacts to do the same thing. This is especially easy if the "whatever" you're good at could save or put money into your offeree's pocket.

Let me give you my example in the hopes you'll better understand my suggestion. I was making my living from a seasonal business that had opportunities to make money outside of the season, but not very common. I hated to use the phone for "selling" but I was desperate so I began calling all the people I knew to offer my service. The way I approached it was to offer to provide a 2nd Opinion for Free of the job that had been done for them the previous season. I provided them a written report of the problems that had cost them money and then offered to correct the problem for a reduced fee. I was able to save one out of three more money than they paid me for my fee so it was a win-win. For those two out of three that I couldn't put more money in their pocket - guess who most of them came to the next season they needed the job done! I asked "if there was someone they knew that could possibly benefit from my 2nd Opinion Offer" both when I called them and again after I delivered the service.

This technique serves two purposes - the first is that it puts money in your pocket each week and second it increases your income down the road.

For those of you who are in a seasonal business I cannot over-emphasize the need for a Budget (or if you don't like that term then spending/saving plan). The idea is to be certain you clearly understand your annual expenses. These expenses generally do not go away once your income stops for the season, so you've got to make sure that your income lasts for the whole year. Get away from the feast or famine mindset! Once you have a clear idea of what your Annual Expenses are then you can divide by 12 and come up with a monthly amount that you can spend out of your seasonal income for the months you are working. The rest goes into a savings account that can be drawn upon to cover expenses when the income is low or non-existent. The reason I would have you start with "Annual" expenses is because there are expenses that come up quarterly, bimonthly, semi-annually, and annually. For example if your DMV fees are $432 for the year but paid annually right in the middle of your "famine" season, then you're stuck -so the payment is late and now you've got additional penalties added to the bill. By including this figure in your Annual expenses it means that when you divide by twelve you've accounted for $36 monthly that needs to go into savings so it's there when you need to spend the $432. Be sure when you're listing your Annual Expenses to include a reasonable amount for recreation, gifts, emergency fund, and other discretionary spending. Remember the idea is to make your money last the entire year. If your income is not a fixed amount, but instead based upon some factor like hours worked or amounts produced or handled, then use last year's income as the amount you match for your Annual Expenses. They have to match! Annual Expenses CANNOT Exceed expected Annual Income.

Remember what good ole Ben Franklin once said: "A Penny Saved Is A Penny Earned".

In summary:
Show your talents off by making offers that people cannot refuse because they can see the value. Give them a "trial offer" of some type.
Ask for referrals from satisfied customers at least twice especially when they bring the opportunity to do so within the conversations (i.e. boy my Aunt could have used you).
Don't over-spend your income - set some of your money aside out of Each Paycheck to cover bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual expenses.
When your income is such that you could have a "feast" remember there will come the "famine" at some point in your life and set some money aside for those days.

I truly hope that this advice helps at least one of you!

Blessings,
Ray

Re: What to do if you're desperate

Lets be practical. Most people desperate for money may not own a computer or know the ropes of IM. It's like learning another language altogether. Could be time consuming and stressful. It only seems easy to us because we've gone through the process and we now "speak the language" so to say.

A simple solution could be: Tutoring service
Now we know many kids these days are not doing too well at school, probably due to all the distractions out there, and not being able to focus. So, many parents nowadays will want to send their kids for that "Extra" help to give them that push to make their grades (preferrable with flying colours).
Step #1: Make a flyer, offering your service, and targeted age groups and subjects. Step #2: Put up your poster in all the libraries in town (as a starting point).
Step #3: Possibly even use the library space, if not your own home as tutoring place.
Step #4: Fees should be reasonable, since you're desperate, don't be ridiculous. A small fee of $10/hr for a kid is sufficient and most parents won't think twice.
Step #5: If you enroll more kids than you can handle, simply recruit a partner and share the profits.

This scheme is very feasible and has ZERO intial cost. Eventually this can be grown into a small tutoring business if you're successful and your service is good.
Ofcourse, this is assuming you're able to provide the tutoring service in the first place. I am going to assume most of us have enough knowledge to tutor middleschool kids.
So, Good Luck. Hope this is helpful.

Now that we have Fiverr and other similar sites I would offer services on those sites. You can post up to 20 gigs on Fiverr. Facebook likes, Twitter friends, High PR backlinks and article writing are hot sellers on Fiverr If I want more cash inflow I would could go to Elance or Rent-a-coder

If I'm in a situation like that I would offer something extra to get the orders. For instance I would say not only I will write the article but also will submit to 5 popular directories or I will also convert it in to a video. You can do this easily with a screen capture program and Powerpoint.

Paul,
Thanks for your great question - What to do when your desperate? We all have way to much stuff. Look in those old jewelry boxes - Class rings are bringing big bucks and chances are your kids could care less. Garage or yard sales are big income earners. Are you using the dining room table, sell it.

Boy you said a mouth full. What you said is true there not many jobs out there that pay high wages but even washing dishes at a restaurant is not bad for a start.I did that one whole summer and had fun doing it. You can make it happy or you can bitch about it. My grandma said hard work never hurt any one.

I concur with odesk.

There's plenty of jobs to be had - all not paying great but it gets the cogs turning and allows a person to gain experience t boast to the next person who's looking for work. Snowballs nicely.

Hi,
My eldest son was making money at seven years old making wooden ornaments.
He painted a sign and had a little stall, which paid for his pokemon cards.

I listened this morning to former President Clinton as he discussed this exact problem. To paraphrase what he said: we have to focus on cooperating, not on conflict. However, what has worked for our current leaders is conflict. Right now the focus is on what has worked for individuals - conflict, not on what will work for our economy - cooperation. There are lots of places in our country where there is low unemployment, housing prices are stable, there is a high rate of growth, and there is a shortage of skilled workers. What makes these places unique is that they have formed networks of cooperation. How does this apply to ‘desperate’ individuals? Focus on cooperation; first, think of your interests. Do you know one (or more) individuals with similar interests who are also looking for work? Perhaps if you get together with them, you can brainstorm some ideas for your own business or creative ways to approach employers who may be looking for workers.

I have been there as most of us have and my advice would be to market a skill you have in the Warrior for Hire section. You can also go through the Warriors looking to hire section. This can help you find fast money in a tight spot.

Then, I would build my own network of blogs up with article marketing.....STARTING WITH JUST ONE.....until I get enough traffic to make a good amount of cash with Adsense, Clickbank, and a few other Affiliate Programs.

I remember mark joyner talk about the law of financial stability when i was into that stuff. I think its true- if you're in a despareate situation where you don't even know whether there'll be a roof over your head next month then you're probably not in a position to think clearly about business strategies or make money online systems. In that state of mind you're more likely to be sucked into con artist ploys and buying useless schemes. Its doesn't mean your stupid.

yes- in the short term its down to the basics: look your expenses in the face and cut everything out, move into somewhere rock bottom cheap and take a 'mc-job'. When I was in a bad situation I did market research- this is where you go into an office and phone people up to ask their opinions. A boring thankless job. But such work is readily available and usually allows you to choose your hours to some extent.

The next step would probably to look at sites like freelancer.com o-desk and elance etc and supplement your measly market research income with some other routine boring stuff- such as data entry- the advantage here also being that the hours are more flexible.

Once you're out of immediate danger you can start actually thinking about what more valuable skills you have and put some time into putting yourself forward for some of the better paying jobs on these sites.

If you can make that something of a success then you will be able to start freeing up some time as you don't have to work at minimum wage. The reason why i'm suggesting something like market research and elance.com type jobs is that- as you have more success the amount of this grunt-work you have to do can be scaled down. If you take a 'conventional' job then its often 40 hours a week or nothing.

At this point you're now in a slightly better position to look at some residual systems of income. Or at least this is one suggestion...

You certainly can find something you're good at... someting that will only take you ten or fifteen minutes to do and post it on Fiverr dot com. My son who's a senior in High School gets an average of 3-5 gigs every day and he can generally get them done in an hour max during the evening after school. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but $20/day adds up to $7300/year. I would think anyone would be happy with an extra $7300 every year.

He just does silly stuff too... imagine if you provided something really valuable that everyone wanted and you could double or triple the $7300/year my son makes.

The gigs don't have to be IM either, my son does like art, drawing and some kind of video thing and my daughter makes friendship bracelets out of some stuff she acquired for free on freecycle dot org

So my point is... you can make a few bucks without spending anything and without putting in a ton of time. It's a start... and who knows what that will turn into someday??

Make it a Great Day! : )

I too think that offering some kind of internet marketing service via this forum is an excellent start. I think that anybody with a system in place can easily expand to other forums and certainly places such as fiverr, where new opportunities are continually springing up.

And of course the other side of the coin is cutting unnecessary expenditures. There is always a way to make an extra income, even offline. For example you might pass out cards bearing your cloaked affiliate link to some high converting offer.

I think an important underlying idea here with these examples is that it may be a good idea to go where the demand is yourself instead of "driving traffic" per se. It would seem this kind of traffic is more readily available on a tight budget.

If you are desperate, look for a product that EVERYBODY needs; that way you have a good client base.

Look for a quality product that does not cost too much (with the state of the economy, many people are living on a shoestring, and cannot afford fluff).

Look at product statistics such as client satisfaction, performance statistics, and if possible, talk to users of the product to see how well the product works for them.

Talk with other affiliates/vendors to see what their experience has been with the product and the company.

Look at how and when you will be paid. Will you be paid on your performance? Will you be paid on the performance of others you enlist? How far down will the payments go? When and how will you be paid?

Who will you be working with? Is there a good support system, so if you have a question, you can get it answered quickly? Is there training and monthly, if not weekly, support meetings?

Watch out for hype. There are many honest, reliable companies that would like to work with you; there are also a few that will say anything to make a sale. Be diligent in searching for the right fit for you, listen to your gut reaction, and make sure you trust the company and the people with whom you will be working.
