I think I would agree that offering services could be the way to go.

But if you want to make money as an affiliate with an affiliate business right away I would find a done for you business model.

You will need money to buy the business as well as money for solo ads.

Done for you businesses can be hard though cause usually they make you pay monthly fees on top of your auto responder monthly fees and your traffic costs not to mention many 'done for you's are saturated and thus are hard to drive good traffic to.

I think that being said I think the best way would be Cash Funnel Machine
you can get in for as low as a one time fee $50 but there are some upsells, I think the first one for $200 looks really good and would probably be worth getting because then you get a funnel that has been tested to pull in a lot more. There are other upsells that go up to $2000 I think, but none of them are really necessary. You can get started for $50 Plus you can get Aweber for $1 for the first month.

So that's the fastest cheapest route I found for starting an affiliate business.

I think all suggestions in this thread are really relevant.
my advice would be to look at your situation in different time stages, and address each one, with action:

Suggested timescales could be:

Immediate - what do you need now, today, tomorrow?

Short term - next week, this month, next month

Short to Mid term - in the next 6 months or so

Mid term - this year, next year.

Long term - forever

Write down what it is you want or need in each of those timescales - it will help you to focus on needs and desires.
Then, make a plan - doing what you need to do, and choosing methods suggested that you think will work for you, and that you will work on ....

Don't spend time dreaming too much ! - It will be hard work to get where you want to be, but when you apply that work, then the dreams could become reality.

Ask questions, talk to people.

Read this thread again, if you get stuck - tons of inspiration.

Whether it being writing emails, sales letter, or even critiquing sales letters...

I totally agree! There is a quite long learning curve and if you are desperate, you need to know that it will take some time to learn it. Besides, there are so many sub-niches in IM, so first you will need to think what suits you best. It took me 3 years to start earning money doing IM, but meanwhile I did (still do) a marketing projects for my business clients.

I agree with all of this. Only thing different is that I would say don't just drop your mobile phone to a smaller plan. Drop it all together.

Cell phones plans charge you for incoming calls as well as calls that you make, so you can get by on a landline if that will costs to help pay for necessities.

If you are going to keep your cell phone, don't answer calls but the ones you are expecting, and don't keep one in your ear 24 hours a day like most people do. There are no doubt going to be much more important things at this point that you will need to be concentrating on.

Making Money Fast is something we all want... desperate or not.

If you really are in dire straights... something like, "I need to pay the electric company before 5PM today and it's 2:15pm already." The Internet may not work fast enough no matter what you try. If you have a week or two, that's different. One more thing before I make suggestions... do not expect to make $8000 in a week when you're just starting. Honestly, be glad when you make any money online because the first sale is always the toughest to get.

Suggestions... (some of these may be repeats, with 500+ replies... it's likely.)

Immediate Cash, there are a limited number of ways for this...

- Pawn Shop (hopefully you have something of value to pawn.)

- Sell something to a friend or family member. (We all know someone that drools when they see your stereo or ipod or maybe your tablet... if you offer what they like to them for a deep discount... they'll probably choke up the cash fast.)

- Ask a friend or family member to just plain help. (It's an emergency, it's 15 degrees out side and they're going to turn your Gas for heat off. Ask for help, don't just tell them you're hurting... ask out right for help.)

If you have a little time there's something you can try. I have done this and it works some of the time. Look for Gig on Craigslist... like web page building needed, or design a logo, help with seo... anything people are willing to pay for. Find someone on fiverr that will do it for $5. Tell the person you will do what they need and give a price, like $100 (depends on what they want.) Now hire someone on fiverr to do it for $5... when they complete the work, deliver it and collect your $100... that's money you can turn in a few short days.

My disclaimer... these are just my "ideas" ...nothing is 100% foolproof but this list couldn't hurt.

If you're desperate ...

declutter and sell things you don't use or don't need on on Craigslist and/or eBay.

If you have good writing skills or skills that will fit the Fiverr profile, set things up and get to cracking!

In the meantime, if you're interested in building an online business, save some money to invest in a good mentor or coach to save yourself time, money and frustration.

If you are desperate for immediate cash : Take a job. It's as simple as that. When (and if) you have a job, you get paid for every day your work. Internet business is a business with a 'latency shift'.

Let me try to explain it more clearly

Traditional job: You work->you get paid->you stop working->your income stops.

Internet business: You start working->no income for the first 6 months->build up your business for at least 2 years->stop working->revenue will still get in for a couple of months (or longer if you have set it up correctly).

In short, if you want to make money FAST , do NOT go for the internet road. That's just the opposite (with it's own pro's and con's).

There's always a certain amount of desperation, for a given value of 'desperate'.

However the scattergun approach doesn't work and I'm an example of that. Too many pies and not enough fingers. Hopefully now that I'm concentrating on fewer lines things might actually begin to show a turn arund and I can convince my wife that IM is work that will pay. (She thinks I just play on the computer and that the only people who make any money are selling to mugs... like me!)

So my targets are build a list, affiliate marketing and leave the membership sites to their own devices and ditto the niche blogs.

It is not immediate, but you can get into selling Merchant Fulfilled for free - Fulfilled by Amazon you have to pay for the postage, MF you do not. eBay offers free insertion ads for anyone up to about 100 now.

If I needed cash within a week, I'd honestly do some offline marketing. Let's say I have a budget of $50, I'd buy a domain name and 1000 flyers. I'd then find a product whether it's a Clickbank product or a CPA offer for a college student etc. Once I find one, I link the domain to the offer. Once that is done, I'd make the flyer as catchy as I can including a call to action to the domain.

With a few dollars left, I'd hire a student to stick flyers around at the college. You can expect to earn at least $100 from this as most students would love to find ways to save money and make money etc.

I'm assuming we've all been taught the same internet marketing message and that is that there is no such thing as push-button riches.

If that is what you're looking for, then I guess I should say, "There is nothing to see here." That's not to say you can't make money rapidly, but it requires work. . .and work takes time.

Having been an internet marketing student for quite a number of years, I've finally come across a program that's given me the focus and the tools to do this. My purpose is not to sell the program here. It's to give you a little guidance and advice.

Simply put, you need a mentor. I've floundered for years going from product to product hoping this next one was the magic button that created wealth. I've never found it. The reality is it takes work. Stop trying to figure things out on your own, and learn from someone who is where you want to be and has done what you want to accomplish. Once I figured that out, things changed dramatically for me.

I'm not trying to sound preachy. It's just reality. And I'm not going to throw any names around, because what (or who) works for me may not work for you.

Just find someone you can trust, and just take action. I know that sounds somewhat cliche, but I'm living proof that it works.

I find it oddly illuminating that this particular thread has over 170,000 views. And a bit sad. As someone who's "made it" fulltime 15+ years successfully, what worked for me was:

1) become a genuine authority/subject matter expert (5+ years experience)
2) learn how to teach
3) learn how to sell
4) learn how to sell your teaching/copywriting/VSLs
5) earn industry awards, credibility
6) help others achieve results, by teaching your lessons learned.
7) learn all the tech/video production/site design skills

What I did was pretty crazy, you might say.

I was broke a few months ago and around that time I also discovered online poker. I bought a few books, sat down, studied them like a maniac and 3 weeks later and playing with virtual money like 6h/day, I finally took the plunge, deposited $10 and turned it into almost a hundred. Not for everyone and it's pretty risky especially if you're broke. Also, AFAIK, online poker is banned in USA in almost all states.

But NEVER EVER go play with real money if you don't know how to play really well. That's how you get completely broke!
Just my story, not the smartest move but if you study it hard enough, you MIGHT get some quick cash.

Paul, that's a great idea. Keeping the thread neat and in one place will save everyone time. I think that if people are really desperate and have been at this a reasonable amount of time - at least a few months anyway, and they are still not getting anywhere, they need to go back and examine some basics. I'd start with these questions:

Do you have a good, proven product to work with from the get-go?
Do you have a business plan?
Do you believe in yourself and your product?
Do you care about building a relationship with your clients or are you just after a quick sale, come hell or high water?
Have you taken time to set up your website?
Are you available to your clients to answer their questions?
Do you engage with your clients?
Are you adding value, rather than just chasing above mentioned quick sale?
Are your expectations realistic? Ie, do you expect to make a million $ in a few weeks? If you do, maybe you may need a serious reality check. There is money to be made, but how to get there takes time, dedication, skill, tenacity, and both a genuine love for what you are doing and concern with providing quality to your clients.
Is there anything else that, deep down, you know could be affecting your chances of success?

I hope these questions help get the ball rolling, or add some value if it's already rolling.

Here's an idea, - Do a walk about questionnaire service amongst local businesses, with a few ideas of what they may need - but, mainly to find out what THEY need. And also what prices they would pay - ask them if you could enable it, source it or fulfill it, would they be in a position to go for it now?
Then, go away and see how you can help fulfill it. the diversity may be massive. Examples could be:
Handyman Jobs
Advertising Help
Design
Website Help
Hands on Labour
Online Marketing
Handing out Flyers
Sourcing New Products
etc etc

If you can help them to achieve their aims, you could make money - either using your own time / skills, or out-sourcing ....

eg. You could give them a price/proposal for design and print and distribution of 10,000 leaflets - all outsourced

At the very least, you will have made some good contacts and networking with businesses can pay off. I have used this method myself, but with a sole aim, for helping them save money on fuel costs - see link in my sig.

Sometimes, by offering a small biz a service, they create the demand for it as well, so worth going with a few ideas of what you could do as well!

If I was in a tough spot and needed money pretty quick and I did not have my email list and not much money to invest!

This is what I would do !

I would start first bye driving my local area looking for businesses that are struggling and need more business.You can get a sense buy nobody being in the place when they should be for the time of day that it is.

Once I come across one.
I will do a quick check on my phone of their website and social signals along with check their Google local business listing to see the best way that I could help that business.

I would repeat this until I found someone that needs my help.

9 out of 10 times if that business is struggling like what I am looking for !
When I walk into it, the owner is usually the one to greet me as a result of the business struggling.

I will also put a few free ads in Cragslist offing my service . I like to (optional) have a video squeeze page explaining how they could benefit from mobile marketing to increase their businesses and their bottom line. It also shows the past few years growth of mobile as a industry and what big brands are benefiting from the use of it along with lots of benefits as a result of mobile marketing.

Just doing these 2 things I usually come up with more work then what I want to do and I usually turn down a few jobs.

Every time I work with a local business, that one job turns always leads into other jobs and referrals for more..

It's a snowball effect..

I will look to sell the following

Google Local Listing Service and Sales Funnel Set Up Service.
Mobile Website
Web Design
SMS Marketing
Social Media Service
Lead Generation Service or Sell them per lead.
much more but the key is to sell them something that they need and will show results fast and do not be afraid to sell a service that you yourself can not perform. Just outsource whatever you can not perform.
I always look to outsource as much of the work as possible .
If you keep a attitude that you will not except someone saying "No" to you?

You will have success like never before in your life !.

Once you can conquer how to do this strategy in your own way and offer what you feel conferrable offering as your services! You will always have a place to turn when you need money for the rest of your life .

If you want to offer website setup to local businesses you want to show them your work. The first thing I would do is go to my warm market (friends,family,coworkers) and ask them if they know any small business owners that need a site/blog set up. Getting customers through referrals is easier than picking up the phone and cold calling. Cold calling should be your second option. Cold calling works if you run the numbers and make enough calls.

I would start a Pooper scooper biz. I know it sound gross, but it is residual income monthly and grow huge in a good size community. After all who want to do that? Charge 8-12 dollars per week and grow to 200 clients per week. You do the math. Not bad if your desperate! And dont forget, downsize all bills possible, you can alway get them back later.
