Value of using multiple social media platforms

I am the social media person for an amateur sporting organisation.

It is voluntary work and quite a time consuming doing a good job with (1) Facebook to get it right and I also duplicate some of these posts in my club notes section of a (2) local newspaper and we also have an extensive (3) Email Newsletter.

Although we have an extensive following, only a few people click on LIKE and/or SHARE, I assume that the same would happen for (4) Twitter and (5) Instagram.

Even though it's a well-supported sports club, only a few people ever bother to LIKE and SHARE a very diverse range of well-presented posts.

I am always a little confused as to the value of the effort required to repeat the same posts that I have created on Facebook and duplicate them onto other platforms such as:

Facebook
Local Newspaper
Emailed Newsletter
Instagram
twitter.

Thank you for your thoughts.

That's shows they are interested in the content. However not every one is going to use the like & share button.

As far as Instagram and twitter, It depends what you are trying to do. If you want to grow a bigger audience give them a try. If not focus on the platforms that is giving you the best results.

Since you are volunteering to work on it, don't forget to value your time. Putting a ton of effort in to multiple platforms with poor results. Is not worth it IMHO

    Hope that helps.

Each platform has its own intricacies, audiences, and best practices. Assuming I'm thinking of the same category of "sporting organization" as the one you're referring to, I think Twitter (for sports, quippy, can be meme-focused and "news jacking" technique can work well) and Instagram are value-additive. It's likely where the athletes *themselves* are - and offers the chance for some fun tagging/mentioning of the players as well as relationship building with younger fans. Definitely get that it's a volunteer gig and you're one person, but I think there's room to continue doing your thing on FB while conducting some experiments on Twitter / IG...

I dont recommend multiple accounts on the network because it gets over bearing as from experience personally running 100+ domains and having a a few clients locally.

If you need to promote the same thing over and over again, then just spend the budget on hiring another service to perform it through their channels that already has some stickyness to it.

first master one platform and get positive results there before you explore the next one.
Otherwise you will get even more frustrated and lose more of your time
