Users are Reporting a Widespread Slack Outage

A new article on Marketing Land says that users all over have been reporting some issues with Slack - at a time when many are returning to remote work after the holidays.

This week, for many, has marked the return to work for 2021. Slack is a widely used collaboration tool and has been propping up large parts of the working-from-home community during the pandemic. Slack got acquired by Salesforce just before the holidays kicked off - for a cool 27.7 billion dollars, but users are currently reporting outages. Slack had this to say:

"Customers may have trouble loading channels or connecting to Slack at this time. Our team is investigating and we will follow up with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for any disruption caused."

The problems with the collaboration tool have prompted some pretty humorous declarations from users on Twitter:

Later on, the company offered some further information for users:

"For those customers who are unable to access Slack (e.g. seeing a blank screen or error), please try reloading (CTRL/CMD + R). Otherwise, please hold off on reloading, as this could prevent you from accessing Slack. In addition, Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar aren't working as expected, and some email notifications, e.g. a notification of a new direct message in Slack) are failing to send."
Slack was quick to eventually pick up the pieces and prevent the outage from becoming more of a problem, and the company has already worked to solve the issues that affected the platform. However, problems like this do highlight just how vulnerable employees are during pandemic measures.

High load on servers can cause such blockers which can lead to users experiencing halt in service.
