Squeeze Page Too Simple?

I like the idea of having very simple squeeze pages that convert well, but I'm wondering if this is too simple?

Successful Affiliate Marketer Private Section

I know that testing is the best way to see if something works, and I will be doing that, but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on anything they noticed right away that just screamed out "hit the back button!!"

My main target audience is those who are looking to make money online but are not currently into internet marketing.

Thanks

-Scott

  • There are several things I would look at here to make it more fruitful--and one of them is making it even simpler (test these using Google Optimizer against your current version):

    1. Make a specific promise in your headline. What problem does it solve for your target audience? How does it solve it? When does it solve it?

Compare your "promise" with the promise here:

    http://www.virtualprofitcenter.com/faststart/

You will see what I mean (that page converts over 65%)

    2. Lose your graphics--they are unprofessional and do not add to your page.

    3. Fix the problems with the look of the page. It may seem insignificant, but having the links at the base of the page look funny is a subtle yet powerful message you don't know what you are talking about. I would be happy to give you a template if you would like that has places for everything so you will look more professional.

For me the simpler the better, but as a previous poster commented the site should probably look a little more professional if it is to adopt this approach. Change the graphics and the fonts and make the page look like the single self-contained page that it is supposed to be.

Try split testing against a longer page though.

the heading looked to dark in that background color, the bottom URLs seem out of whack and may work better together in a tight group, the beach is missing happy people.

    goog luck with your project

    Hi

Yes i totally agree with the fact that a simple squeeze page coverts best. I follow the 'master' in testing when it comes to squeeze pages en email marketing (building relationship with your list etc) His name is Ryan Deiss, everybody will have heard of him.

He shared his most succesful squeeze page (about 80% conversions)

I created a squeeze page based on his (he wanted us to use it and test also) and after testing myself it was by far the best converting squeeze page...

    http://wpamaniche.com/home.php

Stripped all the fancy graphics, no bullet points etc, just a headline that solves a problem or grabs the visitor attention and inlcude FREE! at the beginning.

Also just ask for email... that increases the conversions too!!!

What i would do with your squeeze page, as suggested above, is to make the font bigger of your headline and leave out that picture from the island) cheesy, will reduce your conversions, but test with it left out and with it on!!!

    Hope that helps

    Yours sincerely

It´s all about testing. Why not try and model (not copy) after some of the most successful internet marketers and see what their squeeze pages and optin forms look like? I bet thet know what works and what does not.

The best ones ive signed up on are the simple ones and every now and again they come back into fashion.

just remember how back there were when everyone used website builders with fasthosts

Sorry to ask what's probably a daft question. If you want to split test two pages - do you upload one for, say, 24 hours and then swap it for the other - or do you use some kind of script to direct visitors to one of the pages?

    Thanks

Just keep testing out. Your squeeze page is good but you can split test to get optimum results!

It looks okay to me, but keep TESTING. My own personal experience has been this. Keep it simple and straight forward. Try just asking for the email address and see what happens.

I have found that by just asking for the email address I get more opt-in. Nothing in life is free. When you offer someone some free information they have to take time and fill out their name and email address, that takes time. Also, they have to participate that takes time too. So, give them an incentive.

Others have mentioned it so I won't jump on the pile, but the formatting, color scheme and chosen image scream "fly by night"...

I don't see a real compelling offer here - you offer free access to a site that allegedly was paid access in the past. So what?

It also raises the question of why you are offering it for free if people were paying for it in the past? Or were you charging, and no one was buying? Who are you, and why should I trust you?

Carol, to properly split test, you want some type of rotator script that sends alternate visitors to different pages. You also want the script to drop a cookie, at the very least, so that returning visitors see the same page they saw on the previous visit, and so that your stats program doesn't pick them up as unique visitors.

Paul Hancox here on the forum has some great stuff on split-testing...

  • Here is a squeeze page template you can use for your own projects. This is what we always start with as our "control" then add or change things. We typically test about 15 pages or so to start until we get the one that produces the highest conversions.
