Stop Blindly Trusting Every Piece Of Advice You Get Here...

This is one major drawback of using forums...I see so many people making posts asking-

If I do it this way...Will it work?

If I change this thing...Will it work?

Should I write an e-book on this niche...etc etc.

What this basically means is you are asking for someone's approval or permission to do it. Which means...If you are told no...You assume it might not work out...Which means you are automatically losing out on something which might have worked well for you.

Do not...And let me say it again...DO NOT...Take every piece of advice you get on this forum as a solid fact. Most of it is pure opinion based on personal experience of the member posting.

And not meaning to offend anyone here...But not everyone on this forum is an expert and that's the reason why it's important to test everything out.

Testing is the only thing which will show you whether something works or not. Therefore instead of asking everyone for their opinion here...It's better to test it out and check out the results and see what works for you.

Another reason why I am saying you shouldn't put too much weightage into the advice you get here is because what works for one person might not work for you and what works for you might not work for that person.

For example- You might ask something like- How many articles should I submit to see my first sale?

You might be told that you need to submit just 2 articles because it worked for that specific person.

But here is the twist...When you actually submit 2 articles and realize you don't have a sale you might get discouraged thinking it doesn't work and give up altogether.

You see there are several factors which go into it...The reason why it might have worked for that person is because he/she is in another niche, Maybe he/she is a better writer, Maybe his/her article hit the front page on google and he/she got tons of traffic from it. I mean the reasons can be numerous.

But you see...This is the reason why it's important for you...To try out different methods and keep on trying till the time you find something solid.

Stop trusting everything you hear here...Ever seen guys like Eben pagan, Frank kern etc coming to forums and asking- Hey guys! I made a new site...Do you think it will work?

No!

They put a lot of effort into testing everything out with different variations themselves instead of asking for random opinion.

The main problem why people don't succeed here is simply because-

1-They don't bother to test everything out.
2-If they do test...And it fails...They don't bother to test something else.
3-And they don't show enough patience to test it long enough to see if it works or not ie- They want overnight results and give up too early.

So guys it's really simple here...You can't learn to swim just by taking advice from other swimmers or watching someone else swim. You have to get into the water yourself and see what it's like.

This is the big question right here...How do you even come to know how much they make? No one reveals their true income.

But I didn't say not to ask questions but not to trust the answers without testing stuff out themselves. What someone says may not work might have worked well had one tested it out. That's what I meant here.

If you get some answer from forum, just do the test yourself! Forum still a great way to exchange ideas and experience, and I learned a lot for all Warriors!

I don't think the biggest problem is people acting, I think the biggest problem is people not acting.

You can spend all day reading about how others have made money, but few people go out and try to do the same, A lot of people don't make money just because they don't follow any kind of a plan.

Trying the same doesn't mean the same would get you the same results...And this is what my whole point is.

I use to find myself going from one online business model to another. You definitely do need to test things out and give things a shot and if the system is something that you see yourself doing in the long term then go for it. When you think long term you will succeed. Do not go for the quick buck. Create Businesses that continue to pump out money on autopilot while you work on your next one.

I think there was a post from Big Mike talking about the same issue. Basically there is a lot of difference between numbers and anecdotes, unfortunately many people literally take the comments/opinions of some and make large scale changes.

Worse (and more dangerous) than the "will it work" questions are the "is it legal" or "is it ethical" questions.

Even lawyers won't give serious legal advice without knowing the whole situation and the locality. What might be legal in Sarasota County, Florida might be against the law in Kearney County, Nebraska.

Case in point, wearing a helmet while operating a motorcycle. Here, you are free to risk bouncing your bare skull off the pavement, while in Nebraska you risk a pretty decent fine.

If you went to a motorcycle forum and asked if it was legal to ride without a helmet, a post from Florida could say yes, a post from Nebraska could say no. Both would be correct for their locality, while one would certainly be wrong for you.

As for the ethical questions, I think the answer to those has to come from the face in the mirror. If you have to ask if something is ethical, it means you have doubts.

A better way to get answers is to ask the question differently.

Rather than asking IF something is ethical, lay out your thoughts (plus and minus) and ask how others think they would handle the situation.

      Back to our helmet question...

"Is riding a motorcycle without a helmet ethical? I'm not sure.

On the one hand, it's my skull and I should be able to decide if the freedom is worth the danger. On the other hand, if I do hit the ground, someone else has to scoop up the gore and inform my loved ones that my remains are in a baggy in the morgue. What do y'all think?"

You'll probably get much more thoughtful answers.
