I FINALLY have electricity AND the internet!!

by Zachary R. Skinner 8 replies
As many of you may have heard, a huge wind storm blew through the state of ohio 8 days ago. I happen to live in southwestern ohio which was the area hardest hit and about half the people in the metro area were without power after the storm passed through.

I just had power and the internet restored this past saturday.

I can't tell you how ecstatic I am. Unfortunately, my neighbors living across the street still do not have electricity which I can assure you makes for a very awkward situation.

Anyway I must confess that I have spent an enormous amount of time planning my business online a not once did I think for a second what I would do if I lost electricity.

After spending almost an entire week (114 hours to be exact) without power, I will now never, ever take electricity for granted again!

God bless the internet and electricity!!!!

    Hi Zach...

Yes, A perfect example of "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!"

The same goes for water - kitchen sink/shower etc...

I've had to go a few days with no running water
and let me tell you what a nightmare that is too!

I have you all beat LOL.

I was hit by the same storm (Western PA) but I have a private well...the pump is electric.

That means I had no electric, no internet and no running water!

Fortunately I had a wireless data card and a laptop.

Glad to know you are okay. I hope your neighbors get their power back soon too.

Some people go batty when they lose their TV, it doesn't phase me. However if the internet goes down I climb the walls. LOL

Glad to hear you're back online! We're just south of you in Springboro, but we were lucky. Our's came back on after only 12 hours. Still quite a few around without power including my parents in Bellbrook. I feel like a laundromat/travel center with all the visitors using our "facilities"!

    Hi Zachary,

We were also hit pretty hard here in Louisville KY. and our power was out
    for a few days too.

I'm with you on never taking electricity for granted again!

    Glad you survived it.

    Have a Great Day!
