Gifting Amazon KDP to increase sales and reviews

I'm planning on launching a book on Amazon later this year. The best seller in my category has around 10 sales a day and should be easy to beat. I'm now just looking into how I can boost my sales on launch to become a bestseller.

I've been thinking the following:
1) I use my own domain and gift to random emails on my own domain, then claim the gift though that email and boost my sales on my own. But my question then is: will I need to use unique IPs for every purchase? So do I need proxies?
2) or I find someone who has a team or specialises in Amazon reviews or fake purchases and gift it to them or work with them. The problem here is these people charge around $1-8 for one purchase/review and that is just too much if I want to keep up around 15 sales a day for 30 days...

What is your suggestion? Is there a better way?

    It's an excellent course.

You say the competition will be 'easy' to beat....but then you seem to be saying your plan is to try to cheat/tweak the numbers rather than product/promote an ebook that can COMPETE.

If you have weeks or months till your book is ready - that's a great promotional lead time to get blog/site/landing pages, ads, list building, etc all aimed at promoting/selling your ebook. Also Amazon offers quite a bit of training on promoting your ebook. Several free blogs offer blueprints for how to conduct promotions for kindle books.

There are also some really GOOD Kindle books for sale on 'how to run promotional campaigns to launch a best selling kindle book' (for $5 or less.) And yes, there are 'specialists' you can hire to promote your book for you.

Don't do that. Offer your book for free to friends for a review.

Find books that are in your category.
    Read the positive reviews.
If their profile has an e-mail address, send them an e-mail offering a free copy (e-book or print). Some will take you up on the offer.

    Don't buy reviews..

And there are plenty of books on selling Kindle books. The book Make A Killing On Kindle is a book I've read and recommend.

    First, write the book.
Then buy copies for yourself (if in print). Give copies to friends, and ask them for reviews. Believe me, the first 5 reviews for most books are from friends and other authors.

What will sell your book isn't your ranking in the one category.

What will sell your book is a title that clearly says what the book is about.

A clear description that explains what the person will learn from the book, and a book that's good enough to get real reviews from real readers.

Once you have a book on Amazon, Amazon has an advertising section for books that costs pennies a month, and generates real sales.

All of that is assuming your book is worth reading (in the opinion of readers, not in your opinion), and you follow basic advice about crafting a title and description that actually sells books.

Again, there are plenty of books about selling books on Amazon.... written by authors that sell books on Amazon. They are all inexpensive. For less than $100, you can learn more about book marketing than you'll ever need.

  • Thanks for the very good answers guys!
I have written a good book, but this is my first book and my main goal is to grab that "Bestseller" title and then use that as a marketing tactic in future releases but also to establish myself more in the market as an expert in my field.
I appreciate all the info on marketing and I already got myself that course, but what I'm really asking if anyone can point me in the direction of actually buying sales or if I can just do it by myself? Or do I have to use proxies?

That's easy. Bestseller books change several times a day. You only have to be a bestseller (in one category) for an hour or so.

Find ten friends and relatives. Ask them to each buy your book in the same hour of the same day. Give them the money for the book. And then ask them to write a review.

If only half of them write a review, you'll have a bestseller title, and five reviews. That will temporarily put your book at the front of Amazon searches.

The rest can be done with very very very cheap Amazon ads that show up on the sales pages of other books in your category.

One thing I do, that I don't think I read anywhere, is buy books on the same subject as my book. And I also buy a few copies of my book (in print). Although you can also just buy your Kindle book like any other customer.

Why do this? On the sales pages of books is a section titled something like "People who bought this also bought..." and it will list the other books that were sold to the same people.

My books are mostly on selling, so I bought maybe 100 different popular books on selling (over a year or so)...that I would have bought and read anyway. Now, when someone sees the sales page for these books, they also see my book. Free "advertising".

It doesn't take long for real readers to leave real reviews, and real readers to buy your book. This just expands how many places your book shows up in a search on Amazon, and how many other book's sales page also sell your book.

Most of my books are sold this way or with Amazon ads..

Oh, Once you read a book in your category (that you bought), leave a review. Make it in depth, and really sell how much the book helped you. And as your Amazon name, use your real name and the word "author" after it. Mine is Claude Whitacre-author.

People that read your review will see you know something about the subject, and that you are an author. Your name links to your Amazon sales page where your book(s) are listed. You'll get free sales this way.

Some, maybe most, authors read their reviews. Authors are also book buyers....and they also leave reviews. A decent chunk of my books are sold to other authors of books I've reviewed. And many of my reviews are from other authors. We all end up promoting each other this way.

Also (Whew!) make a Youtube channel. There are plenty of Yotube videos on how to do this. It's quick and easy. Create short videos...they don't have to be anything other than you filming yourself with your phone, and talking into the phone's camera. Talk about your subject for a minute or two, and mention your book. Put a link in the video's description (on Youtube) to your Amazon sales page for that book.

The beauty of all this is that once it's done, it pays for years. And it's all either very cheap...or free.
