Keywords in quotes question please

Hi

I have discovered a few keywords for a niche that has some good numbers, when searched in quotes on google.( below 50.000 )

But when they have not got the quotes around them then the numbers of sites goes into the millions ,some as high as 15 million.

My question is:

Will i be able to get first page rankings for my articles easily enough?or am I wasting my time?

Kind regards

Colin

Download Market Samurai (30 day trial) or Traffic Travis (free version) and you'll get a better snapshot of what you're up against. Some search phrases with low competition can still be very competitive.

Well, if people type the exact keywords without quotes you use in your research they are going to have the same results, the same thing for using quotes.

The point is that most people don't use quotes.

What you can do is analyze how many links the sites in the first page of Google have pointing to them using those keywords...

If you think you can get more links than them for those keywords probably you can push them out.

    Thanks,

Use quotes to see your strongest competition - sites that are actually targeting your keywords. Those are the ones that show up in quotes.

If the competition is low enough, you can work to beat them. This is when you probably want to spend a lot of time on SEO with your site.

It's best to try keywords in quotes with under about 10,000 competition, especially if you are just starting out. Once you know what you're doing and know all the little tricks, you can challenge yourself and go after higher competition keywords.

When people search for information using your keyword without quotes, your site will be in the higher listings.

You'll notice that if you run your keyword with and without quotes, certain sites will still be near the top.

The number of competitors for getting on page one of the Google search results page is always the same: 10.

        You always have ten competitors.

You can make the quick "search with quotes" check to find good canditates for promising keywords, but in the end you'll always have to beat those ten guys (or gals) on page one.

Things that make it difficult to beat them are:

They have many backlinks (with the keyword as anchor text).
The keyword is part of the domain name,
They use the keyword in the title and in the body (headings, internal link anchor texts, etc.)
        They use an old domain.
