Disadvantages of Starting a Writing Business

Hello fellow warrior members,

I am quite new to the business world of writing. I have tried sites like micro workers where they pay you a maximum of $1.50 per article.

I ended up making $14.

I stopped because of the exhaustion of writing articles, especially with the poor pay of micro workers.

I was amazed at how well I did writing my articles, as I was just doing it to test myself how well I can do.

I am convinced that those articles were worth more than $1.50

At least $5 each.

But my question is how do I get customers independently, and what is the difficulty level of doing that?

I've had very little trouble getting customers here. I just wandered around posting, and people asked me whether I wrote articles. And I said "well, actually, yes!" and they hired me to write articles for them.

Post a WSO in the Warriors for Hire section. You may have to offer some free articles first to gain a reputation before people will hire you.

Have you tried textbroker.com? It doesn't pay loads of cash, but it's normally a lot better than $1.50 per article. I'm rated four stars (out of five) on the site and $5 is usually the minimum I make per article.

Do a WSO advertising your writing services. Warriors are always looking for people to write for them. $1.50 per article is ridiculous, to be honest, but you are wise to at least get your feet wet that way. Now that you've proven to yourself that you can do it, go for the $5-$7 range minimum. As you grow and develop your skills, you can start asking more.

Let people know your background (if not in writing, then topics you're familiar with - that you can write about). Show them some samples - 400-500 word articles.

Announce your WSO in your sig. Or if not a WSO, set up a page on your own site and link to it in your sig.

I normally write blog posts more than articles. I believe one can get paid a lot more writing for blogs. Bloggers tend to pay more.

I get offers from people who see my content on other blogs. So it is pretty easy that once you get the first job, more and more people are seeing you in the blog for which you are writing and from there on, you get hired often.

May I know how or where to get bloggers to hire you to post blogs for them?

    Thanks,

You can write guest post for top blogs and add a author bio at the end of the post saying you are for hire.

You can write a quality content blog and promote your services via that blog. Many of your blog readers might be in need of writers.

You can mention you are for hire in your sig.

      Hope that helps

      Cheers

What I don't get is why write an article and sell it for $1.50? or $5.00
Why not just take the time and do something creative, write an ebook, and sell it for $28.50 each....heck I did that, and my first month I made over $8000.00, my 2nd month I cleared $13,000 and it grew from there.....I only sold 1 e-book...not 1000's like some people do...over the years I have written 5 ebooks...and geeee I am not even a great speller....but what the heck...my info was top notch and I made a ton of money online for a long time !!

associated content may pay you up front $1-20 per article but they also pay you based on the traffic your article gets forever. You'll find the same business model at ehow and many other sites that just want more content. The recurring payment based on traffic can really add up if you publish enough. You should really be able to get $3-10 per article depending on your work.
