Okay, so back in July 2015, Microsoft stated that Windows 10 would be "the last version of Windows", and subsequent builds and updates would be released over time.

However, it seems Microsoft changed their collective minds, and a leaked internal build of Windows 11 appeared on the wild, with a new taskbar and Start menu:

They even added fuel to the fire by tweeting:

Everything will become official at Microsoft's June 24 event at 11AM ET (See what they did there?)

What do you think?

It's pretty similar with iOS desktop. I don't think it will be a huge breakthrough for them and for the market as well

I don't understand why they copy the design and style of Apple. People who like Windows are unlikely to understand this. Probably if they didn't like windows they would have given up on them long ago.

Some people have programs that they use every day that only have windows versions. There never was a MAC version of it made.

Also, many people do not have the budget to afford the more expensive MAC computers.

I downloaded and set up it yesterday just for the test. The first test version works pretty good, new design, new widgets
so if anybody want to test, go for it

I'm amazed at how they "leak" a basic centered start menu photo and expect everyone to be amazed and long for the new version. It's a start menu, and it's centered - what a big UI and engineering shift, I already see everyone's drooling! :rolling-eyes: mtz mtz mtz.

It really doesn't matter whether people "long for" or are lured into getting the latest, greatest version of Windows. Microsoft has announced that EOL for Windows 10 is in 2025 so you have no choice but to purchase it eventually if you want to use Windows and have a (relatively) virus-free, safe computing environment.

I'd love to see them get their updates fixed for Windows 10 first. I just spent 2.5 hours yesterday on an in home computer client's bad update here in Honolulu Hawaii. I'm starting to wonder why no one has considered a class action law suit due to down time and repair costs for businesses.

I'll take Linux Mint over both OS's any day.

It's different. People who aren't very techie, like me, struggle sometimes with big changes like this. I always have "caught on" eventually and really appreciated the new features in other versions of Windows so I'm sure I'll love Windows 11. Just not immediately. LOL

I will stay with my Windows 7Pro, which l have used every day, online and off, for the last 4 years with all updates switched off, while the tech, heads, keep bleating on about, "Security updates are vital, or your PC will blow up".

I came across a thread on reddit where the guy mentioned that he was not able to use VPN on the dev build. This is quite alarming, but I am sure this would not be the case with the live version.

I believe that this update of windows looks so similar to mac actually. Bar which is moved to the middle looks the same as in mac. Of course, you can change it, however the idea is very similar. In my opinion, this update is deserved to be installed because it's much faster than windows 10 as far as I concerned, so it's worth installing. Nevertheless, if the performance characteristics of your computer are close to the recommended ones you can face unpleasant lags and friezes. I advice you not to look at the windows 11 update in case you don't have powerful PC or laptop, at least powerful enough for it.

Not recommended, but you can force install Windows 11 on unsupported devices. It's pretty much like installing a fresh copy of Windows, but your device/hardware won't receive support.

I thought that window didn't ever going to copy IOS like everybody doing in market. But!!! you know the law of attraction. Windows actually have their own identity before they decided to make window 11.

Tagiscom has the King Edward 2000 special edition potato computer. It's main criticism at the time was that it's chips were easily fried. He runs Windows ME (Multipule Errors) on it and has the Disney, Mikey Mouse edition of Adobe Potatoshop where he churns out lots of fryers.

Yeah it does take some time getting used to the new layout (centric taskbar, different Start layout), but otherwise it's all fine.

I'm running on a developer build so there are more bugs, but I'm not complaining.

It is similar to macOS, but I like that it was adapted to sensor screens. Two years ago, I bought a key for Windows from impkeys.com. I was always getting the official updates on my personal computer, and when I bought a new laptop with sensor screens, I have noticed that Windows 10 is not good at all for such kinds of devices. I have updated to the next Windows, and I kind of like it. It is well optimized to work with touchscreens, and the new design makes it look like an Apple computer, but with the possibilities of a computer with Windows.

Mac OS, have their issues, namely incessant code inputs and if you don't have another one of their devices, then you can't change credit card details or not much else, since the stupid codes fail if you don't log in enough times.

Apple is Ape-shit about codes, and also Ape-shit about selling their stuff, (but no surprises there).

And the latest version of windows, uses a similar setup to Torrentz, or they grab some bytes from another W11, system if they are not downloading.

It was a bumpy ride when I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but it eventually became the best Microsoft operating system, and the same will be true with Windows 11. Even so, Windows 10 is my favorite thus far.

I am buying a new laptop and it has Win 11. My dad did the same thing but as he is not a techie, he couldn't handle it and got a replacement with Win 10.

If I need any help, I might have to borrow the brains of people in this thread or perhaps start my own.

I've been tinkering with it for a couple days. You'll be fine, Laurence.

My biggest complaint so far is they changed the menu when you right click. Most of the actions you're used to take an additional click to find. There's probably a solution. I just haven't had time to research it yet.

Thanks Dan. I have learned each time a new version came into being so, even though it has differences, I should figure it out.

As I have a PC with Win 10, I can always Google questions or come into the forums and ask. I know there are some of you who would assist me if I got stuck.

Just don't delay the upates, Laurence otherwise the blue screen will appear and it will force the updates, regardless of what you are doing.

I tried W10 for about three days years ago, and then got a team of experts to remove it.
