If at all possible use something like aweber or get response. You have to pay but they look much more professional than free AR's which tend to be blasted with adverts. Hope this helps

If you have a bit of PHP know-how Infinite Responder (Infinite Responder - Free Autoresponder Script) works well.

If your web host provides CPanel and Fantastico, you might find PHPList as a 'one-click' install - otherwise you can download it from phplist.com : Homepage : home

PHPList is powerful, but it's a pain to set up. There is an active support forum at Index - phplist forums

Be careful not to exceed your hosting provider's limits on the number of emails you can send per hour - PHPList lets you throttle the send rate to whatever you want.

Personally I would not use a free autoresponder service. Use Aweber or getresponse. You have to make an investment, however this is a business not a hobby.

It's all about email deliverability. Your messages to Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail, etc. are going to be put in the spam folder if you use something like PHPList or virtually any free AR out there.

It's worth it to pay a small monthly fee for Aweber, GetResponse, EmailAces. They'll get your emails delivered into Inboxes at a much higher rate.

I would rather use aweber since their deliverability is pretty good, but if you are really looking for a free A/R, you could try pommo dot org.

I personally use Aweber but I believe their free version is more like a trial and ends after so many days.

Get Response, if I remembered correctly, you can use it for as long as you want (with one link third party ad per mailing and can build one list only) and when you upgrade it to paid version, it'll move the members flawlessly.

Might want to consider using Get Response.

I'm using infinite responder modified by myself. Since I' m planning to build a very small and responsive list, it should be cool for now. I will switch to aweber once I see sales coming in

      Chris,

Just remember that switching will require all your existing list members to re-confirm at Aweber (and most other paid services). You may lose a significant number of them.
