We All Need A Kick Start From Time To Time...Here's YOURS

I never thought I'd say this, but lately, I've been getting VERY lazy.

Yeah, I know...I said I was going to cut back on my hours, and I have. But
that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about going beyond just simple
cutting back. I'm talking about spending way too much time in the recording
studio.

Now, so far, no harm done. I'm still chugging along having a decent, though
not spectacular month. I'll probably finish around 9K. Next to last month's
13K, nothing to write home about.

And then Tiff came along with her 30 day challenge and it got my juices
going. I've gone into mass article writing mode. And even if I do it only for
the 30 days, it's going to give me a HUGE boost in income when the smoke
clears.

Well, Tiff's already given you your kick start if you're into article writing, or
are thinking of starting now.

But what if you're not? What if the thought of writing an article is the last
thing you want to do and going near Tiff's thread is worse than a death
sentence? Don't worry, even though we're both big on article writing, we
won't be offended. Right Tiff?

There are still plenty of ways to give yourself a kick start and do a few
things that maybe you don't normally do or don't do enough of. I'm going
to list a few here. Hopefully, one of them will get your juices going.

1. If you're into Adwords advertising, set up an additional campaign. It
can be for an already existing product you're selling or a new one. If it's
an existing one, then naturally all you'll be doing is setting up another
ad. Split test it against the one that's performing best now and see which
one wins.

2. Join a top traffic exchange. Get Jon Olson's Hit Exchange News, find
out the top exchange, buy some credits (don't waste time surfing), put
up a short splash page offering a free report on traffic generation and
watch the opt ins pour in.

3. Set up another AR series with Aweber or whatever company you use.
Create a squeeze page for it and a free report to give out related to your
niche. It shouldn't take you more than a day or two. Use whatever your
favorite traffic methods are for promoting it.

4. If you have a skill (copywriting, programming, web design, whatever)
go to Elance and see if somebody is looking for work and is willing to pay
a fair price for it. Not everybody is out to get a web site done for $5.
Take the time to look for some work if that's what you do.

5. Participate in this forum more than you do (unless you're a forum
junkie like I am). The more people get to know you, the more they will
trust you and consider working with you. That's how you build relationships.

6. Contact some competing sites and see if you can work out a link
exchange of some kind. Maybe they have a great affiliate product you
could promote to your list if it's not in direct competition with one of your
products. Maybe YOU have a product that they would be interested in.
If you don't ask, you don't know. Make the contact as personal as you
can. Find out as much about the site as you can so you can show the
person that you're genuinely interested in making it worth while for them.

7. Get a hold of Andrew Cavanagh's report on offline businesses and contact
some local companies. For very little work, you can make thousands of
dollars. If you're sitting around doing nothing, this will give you something
to do.

8. Install a help desk to take care of customer and prospect inquiries.
With email delivery a pain in the butt, this will help a lot. Won't take long
but will still give you something productive to do.

9. Hate writing articles? Fine. But you know you still need content for
your site. So outsource some articles to be written. There are plenty of
great writers right here who will give you a great deal. (Not me, sorry, I
don't do that shtick no more...)

10. Still can't find anything to do? See all those ebooks you got on your
hard drive that you've never bothered to open? The ones that you SWORE
would earn you 5 figures? How about opening up just ONE and read it.
Apply just ONE OR TWO TACTICS. I'm sure it will make a difference.

These are 10 things just off the top of my head without even straining
ONE BRAIN CELL.

Certainly YOU can think of something you can do to give you the kick
start that you need.

Hehe. You hit the nail on the head. I love reading Tiff's posts, but I saw "article" and "challenge" in the same sentance and never opened it.

I would rather gouge my eyeballs out with a rusty spoon then write articles. I think I wrote one a couple years ago.

But I like the idea of challenging ones self in other ways.

Great post. I am sure many will find some form of inspiration from it. Myu inspiration is that it confirmed my decision NOT to open that thread(Lol)

I've been lazy as hell too, it's not good. I'm starting back up again. A lot of it had to do with "quitting" caffeine. So much for that.

I have to say I haven't been writing any articles lately, Partly because i'm lazy and the bigger part is because I have run out of ideas and topics to write on. Anybody got some ideas how to find more stuff to write about?

This is yet another great post Steve.

I would not consider myself lazy, just mulit-directioned. I am working now, today as a matter of fact, on zeroing in on one direction only.

          At a time.

Actually, Iam taking a break from working on my first article in Tiffany's challenge. Short break. Honest.

Well I've just started to read a little more than I have been doing. It's the art of discipline that I need to practice more of.

No, I can't think of anything to kick start me - any more ideas?

I'm sure I need one, but talking about IM strategies isn't doing it - I hate doing that stuff myself....

I got a great one for you Andy.

      Take on a mentoree.

This will force you to think about the things that you yourself are doing
and help you reinforce that you're doing them correctly and aren't leaving
anything out. This is a great way to stay focused.

You need to make yourself accountable to someone - that's the biggest thing that there is. I think the old 5 bucks a day forum did this really well with a forum to publicly state your goals.
