What is my site worth?

I want to sell my site on Flippa and not really sure how to value it. I would like to get some feedback from people who are familiar with this space if that is possible.

My site is FreeAdvertisingExchange.com which is a classified site. The site is 16 years old, has a database of over 270,000 and email list of 125,000. It has an Alexa rank of 270K.

I don't do anything on the site today and with no work it brings in $200 to $300 a month. I got sick a couple of years ago, which is why I don't maintain it. However, before I got sick it brought in about ten times as much per month, but that was a few years ago.

Any recommendations on what I should be listing the site for?

      Flippa has an appraisal/valuation service.
      Why don't you try that.

Most people will pay you 20 times your monthly income. Go sell it to someone offline, they might pay more...

In any case, it is a factor of the monthly income.

You can list it on Flippa for $1,000,000 and start going down every few days or weeks, till somebody makes you an offer you like.

There are many tools available to check site worth. Buy they do not calculate correct.

I would seek out a broker even if just for their insights.

Also there are Domain and Website buying Groups in Facebook pretty active.

Most will be low-balling but there is always someone willing to invest fair market value.

What makes a website worth much? Answer: if it makes much, it might be worth more than it makes.

Don't know about those other answers ... maybe they've never tried to sell a website, so don't realize that none of that really matters at the end of the day.

The website isn't worth anything unless it generates a lot of revenue, through lots and lots of traffic. Simple economics.

You can have the most beautiful, SEO, mobile, divirsified, expert, content rich web site in the world, but if it doesn't have millions of views and making lots of money, then nobody wants it -- and they're sure not going to pay money to buy it.

We used to pride our site for being "ad free" and a "spam free web site" ... and since opening in 1994 grew to several million visitors a month, then declined to mere thousands and now I realize I should have had ads and spam all along so it would have a revenue stream and track history. Because today, even with more than 37,000 expert content articles, and ranking in the top 100K sites, it's worthless.

You can sell it for 20times your monthly revenue as your website is aged about 16 years.

Go for a higher price and use flippa advertising/promo as well.

    Wish you all the Best.

    Hi,

Your website valuation depends on the present revenues only.

With the given data your website value is L3M*30 (avg of last 3-months revenue X 30 months) = $6000 to $9000
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11683475].message }}

Why would you take the average for the last 3 months and multiply it by 30 when you can take the average for the last 30 months and get a much better idea of the value?

I mean, if I had a site to sell and knew my buyer would take only the last 3 months into account, I'd be tempted to buy from my site a few... hundred times over those 3 months, knowing that each dollar spent will bring me back 30.
