Multiple Twitter accounts?

by sherrieb 7 replies
I tried to search but came up empty so I'll ask. If you are marketing to different niches with a different pen name, shouldn't you have a twitter account for each pen name?

I heard you should only have one under your real name, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Well, twitter's not "really" for marketing purposes, but if by chance you had news of cool things in more than one market that you wanted to share with your friends and the things to share were mutually exclusive, you owuld probably be best served with several accounts.

But, spam those folks and you will find yourself withouit friends or followers - right quick.

I'd rather use just one account. You just want to keep all updated. as said, this is not a marketing tool.

Yes, that's correct. You should have more then one account if you want to market to more then one niche. Simple tip: be real with your followers. Don't just tweet about promos and your affiliate links. Make 70% of your tweets about you and what you're doing. And you promote too, just don't over do it.

Yes, you can do that. Although personally, I will just stick with my real name.

I know some of the reporters on CNN have multiple accounts (personal and work-related), so I would guess having more than one would be okay, but time-consuming. IMO

I have 2 twitter accounts, 1 public where I talk about my discoveries on the Internet, my business and my hobbies (which are often business related).
        I use a nickname I am surfsusan .

The 2nd account is a restricted to members of my inner circle and I use my name there.

It works fine, I wouldn't like to have more account, this is time consuming enough.
