Facebook is about to rename themselves

The Verge reports that the social giant is about to announce a new name next week.

The corporate name is "metaverse-inspired. We've heard this corporate name change some years ago - Google's parent company Alphabet comes into mind.

What do you think?

Is it just me or does that name sound pretty obnoxious?

It's not a big leap in logic. Lipstick on a pig means you are trying to put makeup on crap. FB is a success story, like it or not.

It's GROWING as a company. Instagram is crushing. FB Portal is doing very well. Even FB reels breathed new life into the main product.

Talk business. Not personal feelings. Facebook has grown immensely in 10 years. It's a TRILLION dollar company.

Zuckerberg literally founded a trillion dollar company (FACTS). And a company that did 37% growth

            https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/...37%25%20growth.

I bought FB shares in the high 20's. It's well over $ 300 a share now. Yup. That Zuckerberg and Company sure don't understand business.

            Haha.

What I am getting at -- it's like the dude that can't even star in his own local rec league -- talking trash about Lebron or Jordan.

Zuckerberg is worth around $ 100 Billion. In business, money IS a measure of acumen to some degree.

And he's been scrutinized by Congress.

Most IM-ers couldn't pass scrutiny by H&R Block haha.

But yeah, he's just putting lipstick on a pig. What happened when Google became Alphabet?

They grew BIGGER and more POWERFUL.

And the sillies on this forum said it was a "mistake."

Go look up that old thread.

Go look up all the "mistakes" companies like Amazon, Google, FB, etc have made in the eyes of Warriors in the last 10 years.

THEN go look at what actually happened. And how they GREW.

Next you're going to tell me I cannot say a movie is a dud because I've never made a movie?

              Not to mention this:
Facebook is not attracting young internet users, which means, unless they do something significant, they may go the way of myspace. Remember my space?

                Hi,

Facebook, the parent company, currently known as Facebook Inc, is what might change names. Not Facebook.com

And FB owns Instagram which does FINE among younger users.

Myspace was never monetized. Myspace was a "big thing" for about 2 years. They don't compare.

FB already surpassed Myspace 10+ years ago.

                Myspace only had Myspace.com

                FB has --

                Facebook.com
                Instagram.com
                Portal
                Whatsapp
                Messenger
                Facebook ads
                Watch
                IG Reels
                FB Reels
                FB Marketplace
                FB Groups

                etc etc.

Myspace was one single website. That you could build a clunky and gaudy profile on.

FB is a $ 1 trillion company. A tech juggernaut.

They are NOT the same thing. Not even close.

I heard about this. Idk how cheesy it's about to be but it doesn't affect me except for a nice laugh lol.

Rebranding don't mean a thing unless the thing that's rebranded is of value (ha, this applies to PLR too!) That's not to say that FB isn't.

But if they think that a simple rebrand is going to fix their past mistakes... then that's really sad.

I'll continue to use em and see though... maybe something good could really come out of this.

      I think anything but that.

Everything they do is meticulously well planned.

Everything they do is involved with making profit or avoiding profit loss.

I love this insider view on F.B. From Facebook Employee Number 30.

You know this experience really got into his head to this day.

But he still went on to make Millions with App. Sumo

Ironically he got on Social Media While he was working at Social Media an was critic of Social Media..and cost him HUGE.

Just so it doesn't come across like I fanboy for Facebook. I only like it because it is insanely profitable. If you learn how to use their ad platform, your targeting ability is beyond ridiculous.

Have an offer for 25-54 women who are vegan, live in Houston TX, like Latin Trap and work as nurses? And what if they all also like America's Got Talent?

You can target that exactly. And wind up acquiring customers at like a few bucks a pop. You can still front-end profit on low ticket offers on FB.

    And high ticket offers?

You can get 20x or 50x ROAS. Front end. Mic drop lol.

The original spirit of this forum was -- making $$$. Not hating the interwebz. Reddit's good for that haha.

Honestly this is a PR move through in through.

No one cares if they change their name but this gives them more opportunities to use PR to announce their intention towards the metaverse as a priority for them. Their number 1 goal right now is to make the metaverse synonymous with their brand so when they think of it, they think of Facebook or whatever the heck it'll be called soon.

So to me, it's all just one giant PR spin to grab more clout in this space and attract eyeballs to watch what happens after.

    • I totally agree. There could be something else brewing there, but I doubt it's a change of name.

This is why most persuasive ads are based on SUPERLATIVES.

HUGE HUGE HUGE prahblem for the Zuckosphere rn is the erosion of trust from all sides as magnitood of initiative plunders the virgin 2020s
