Facebook parent company renames to Meta

And it's official. Facebook announced that the parent company's new name is Meta. Mark says:

"We are a company that builds technology to connect. Together, we can finally put people at the center of our technology. And together, we can unlock a massively bigger creator economy."
I don't know but the Meta name sounds like, well, some virtual universe taken straight from a video game. Metaverse? New meta?

      Either way, renaming to Meta is just, well, a rename. They're still Facebook and all.

    Mock via all means however branding or rebranding is frequently wished and effective although for people who work in advertising and marketing, they can not abide now not looking to restore something that ain't broken, lots of examples of disastrous campaigns, may want to this be one? Looks a piece like Virgin Broadband has long past Meta.

    Seems to me the only reason is to attempt to move away from the controversy and accusations generationed BY FACEBOOK itself in the past couple of years.


    It's still Zuckerberg...changing the name does not erase the questions being asked about regulation of social media - and about removing liability protections from social media....


    I see this as an attempt to 'move beyond' the problems FB created for itself.

      The company that owns the individual platforms is called META. The platforms themselves are going to be called what they were called before, so FaceBook is going to be FaceBook and Instagram is going go be Instagram and so on.


      You often hear on the news, Alphabet, Google's parent company will blah, blah, blah.


      From now on, you'll also hear: Meta, FaceBook's parent company will blah, blah, blah.

      I don't think mark can grasp that people want a place they can create a fictional self in fictional worlds

      The way he is presenting the meta verse is an extension of the real world. Versus an escape or alternate existence from the real world
