Can't Rank Homepage for primary keyword. (Seemed Easy but taking efforts) Need Help.

Hey Everyone.

My problem just seems easy, even I am confused what is happening to my website.

I started working for a domain a year back for which i did a lot of work and managed to get good page authority and domain authority anyhow. The content that i published on the homepage was 100% genuine and I gave my best to it, but I do not know why that page is not ranking at all till now.

I tried changing/updating the page content but no results. There was a small change though. After updating the content, it appreared on SERP, but in 2-3 days the ranking dissappeared.

Checked Every On page SEO aspect, but could not found a single issue...can someone please suggest what should I do?

    To rank, your homepage creating high-quality backlinks means links on high DA, DR Sites.
    Submit the homepage to search engine sites (only high quality sites)
    Re-check your content quality again because sometimes your content is 100% unique but not gaining audience engagement this is the main issue for ranking. Check your content from your targeted audience's perspective.

    Some keywords are easy: you rank for them with just o page SEO.

    Some are harder: you need backlinks.

    You seem to have gone for the second type thinking it's the first type.

    The fix:
    1. Get more and better backlinks than the page sitting at the top of the SERPs.

    2. Pick an easier keyword.

    TRY to go to Fiverr and see if anyone there that you can hire, will be able to get your site ranked.

    Will it work or not? That I don't have the answer to.

    Homepage is tricky as it requires sophisticated interlinking to your other pages and they need to be SEO optimized/ranking as well - but it can be done.

      No, it's not.


      And, no, it does not require. Internal links help, make things easier, but you can rank without.


      Users might be pissed off but you can rank a homepage without internal links.

        I REALLY REALLY hate to disagree with you here... but look in the upper left of the screen you are on right now? What do you see? The Warrior Forum Logo? Hover over that real quick for me? what is it? its a link to the home page.

        basic rules of SEO from top to bottom, and from left to right - this rule determines the level of importance on any and every element of a site, and any and every word on a site... how many hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands if not more of pages on this very website internally link to the home page?

        And yet you can type in any and ever topic known to man that may be covered on this forum, and you will NEVER run into a direct link to the homepage of the Warrior Forum in search results.

        I personally would suggest that the absolute last page you want showing up for ANY search result would be your homepage unless you are trying to be cute and use one of those one page designs... and based on this very discussion right here, maybe we can see what a mistake that concept might be.

        I would bet my last dollar... maybe my last 3 dollars that within the Google structure that determines ranking, a "Home Page" is probably at a disadvantage to any and every other page on a site.

        By design... by function a "Home Page" should be the gateway or the main entrance as it were to all of the information on a site. The moment you break from this "Function" and try to make a home page function as an internal page should... or a lander page for that matter, and then EXPECT it to rank... we get threads like this. This is NOT the first time this very scenario has been asked on the WF.. wont be the last.

        FORM follows FUNCTION... a "Home Page" should not function as a landing page, in regards to SEO - its simply a proven ( time and again for years and years ) bad idea.

          My argument was with: intricate interlinking required. SEO is not complicated enough for such words.

          I have ranked homepages with random inner links, intricate interlinking and no inner links.

          My best (longer lasting rankings) are in a site where inner linking follows the silo linking. Which I do not call intricate, though.

    If I may.. can I ask a real fun question? Why exactly are you so concerned with getting your homepage ranked?

    In regards to onpage SEO... The "Home" Page is the most linked page internally on any and every website.

    Instead of fighting ranking something that probably wont - regardless of onpage SEO or backlinks or whatever... find a way to direct the users on the pages you are ranked for to a page that contains the information that you so desperately need people to see on your home page.

    From what I've gathered there are so many factors to consider when relying primarily on SEO techniques and strategies. As mentioned above; backlinking, anchor links, page structure such as on-page SEO, silo architectural SEO structuring, and about 100 other factors come into play.

    I am for some SEO strategies, but to rely on the providers algorithms as a sole means of establishing an online presence is weak at best, unless you are a SEO genius!!!

    Personally, as you appear fairly new to the online marketing world, business principles, core virtues, and your own mindset and ability to "know your audience" should be your primary objectives, not some rank #1 for a keyword and get rich or hit the lottery!

    People need to understand who they are targeting before they put a single offer together, and the idea that you can start a blog in say "health and fitness" and outrank some of the most respected website owners, providers, and well-funded company owners is just absurd obscurity of any known reality check!

    I would focus on basic SEO structure such as formatting your content for the spiders, bots, and crawlers to such extremes as knowing the proper keyword density throughout your articles/content pieces, which used to be 3-4% keyword density. Structure your headings, sub-headings, and interlinking your own content in what is often overlooked; SEO Silo Architecture, as FB and Google and all major providers use to structure content from the core seeds(*keywords) - to developing the parent/child tree menu structures.. or the macro/micro niche targets you are aiming at, if any in particular?

    Learning SEO is ever changing, I wouldn't invest too much time or reliance when there are far more effective ways to drive traffic to offers.
