I am a newbie and I have a lot of questions

Hello everyone:

My name is David Mintzer and I am a newbie here. I am learning one program now which says how to get free pages and free traffic. I am currently unemployed and I have not worked in six months. I really do not have a whole lot to spend, but I have 3 blog sites that I have joined. How do I get started with making money online?

Thanks so much.

      Welcome!

I am recently new to here as well and you will soon find out that there is a vast amount of information but don't let that overwhelm you.

The people in here are friendly, helpful, very knowledgeable and don't make you feel a lesser being for not knowing as much as they do. It is the best place to be for a new marketer or site owner.

My personal advice to you is to take things slow, have a good look round here and read a whole variety of posts and comments. Don't be tempted to jump in with both feet and go for the first offer you come across.

I made more than my fair share of mistakes when i started out and I attribute a lot of them to naivety, over-eagerness and a newbie gullibility. You do learn by your mistakes but it would be nice if others could steer you away form some of the more common mistakes before you have a chance to commit them!

Hopefully, that is what I am trying to do.

You need to look at the different methods available for marketing and decide what your strong points are, for instance:

      1. Are you a natural born writer? Then you could look into freelance work and earn money by providing writing services for site owners, bloggers or people looking for ebook creations.

      2. Could you sell ice cubes to Eskimos (or is it Inuits now?)? Then maybe you should look into affiliate marketing.

      3. Have you got an eye for discovering the niche markets, do you know what people will need even before they do? Then find out more about micro niche sites, blogs, squidoo and other platforms for earning cash from mini-sites.

These are only a small collection of the many things you could do. My advice is to stay calm, don't be in too much of a rush, have a good look around the Warrior Forum and see what people have to say and suggest. There is a massive wealth of experienced people in here who offer great advice for free.

Listen to what is being said, ask questions and participate in the threads that take your interest. You will soon find your own place in the IM market.

      Best of luck and welcome.

Hi David, one of the best places to start in making money online is affiliate marketing. In this field you are promoting products that you never have to see, store, or touch. All you have to do is make sales and collect payment. This is where I started and where I continue to work as a full time job.
If you would like some ideas that have to do with affiliate marketing, or some more information, please send me a message or email me at gclunis0304@gmail.com. I will try and help you out as much as I can.

I'm not sure what you mean - that you've "joined" 3 blog sites. Do you have your own 3 blogs? Or are you contributing to someone else's blogs?

The best way to get started is to find a good product that is already a proven seller. Look through the Affiliate products categories on places like ClickBank.com and see what appeals to you.

You can use a blog to post articles about the product's topic. Do not use Wordpress, though, because they do not like you to promote affiliate products. Use Blogger. Google will let you promote affiliate products. Plus you can add AdSense and make a few pennies that way as well. Blogger makes it really easy to set up.

Then, use those free traffic ideas to get people to your offer.
Make one of your posts a Product Review - write something about the product you are promoting to give people your view of what it can do for them (and what it did for you, if you try it first).

This is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to get started making money online. As you do make money, start to look for ways to reinvest it into making your business better. Maybe use it to buy solo ads in related ezines or develop your own product to make even more money per sale.

    Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome. This is a great place to ask questions and find help. However you need to be a little more specific.
if you don't have any money for your own site, you should start with a Blogger blog or create lenses on Squidoo. As soon as you make enough, buy your own domain and get web hosting. YOu really want to own your own website. Good luck and ask questions. It is the best way to learn.

    Hi David,

Like you I'm rather new to all this but there is heaps of information in here. I'm doing my own research on IM and I'm expect that to start with I'llbe promoting sites in the future.

iI've read that you can write articles based on a "niche" then promote the website at the end of the article. It's free and all it takes is time.

    Just a thought.

Read through this forum - there is TONS of quality information to help you get a feel for internet marketing.

But in terms of what steps you need to take next...

      1. You need to understand and eventually choose an initial business model - affiliate marketing, creating and selling your own product, publishing content monetized by advertising, or selling a service. Understanding how each business model works will allow you to choose the one that fits best with your skills and longer term objectives.

      2. Find your big WHY! Yes, we all want to make money with our businesses, but what else is there? Do you want to improve people's lives, build a business that employs others, make enough to contribute 100K to charity, solidify your children's future by building a thriving business that you can pass on to them....

      3. Choose a market based on a combination of commercial potential and appeal to you.

      4. Develop a 6-month plan for convincing your market you are the "expert" in your field - publishing content, publicity, branding, product creation, joint ventures and partnerships, etc...

These are the BIG bullet items - of course under each of these are a serious of steps you will need to take, but starting with an outline is often helpful when you first start out.

Guys, thank you so much. I do want to write a review of the Blindside since I got to see a free preview a couple of nights ago. I was thinking of doing the review on Squidoo and then linking it back to my twitter account which is Brooklyndave 1. I do enjoy hiking since I have been almost everywhere outdoors where I currently live.

    There you go David.

Hiking is your chosen topic and it should be what you talk about related to one of your blogs.

Good on you & good luck.

There are alot of great programs you can promote in that niche. I would recommend starting a free blogger blog and talk about your experiences, different trails youve done, and places you have gone. then find some affiliate promotions, strart writing articles about outdoors and submit them to directories with links back to your blog. best way to get started. it takes hard work, but it is the easiest way with no money to invest. Good luck.

I would also like to elaborate on something that was mentioned briefly, and that was your fondness for hiking.

One of the best things that you can do is to take a self inventory of your interests and your skills. Be honest with yourself and come up with a list of at least 5 things each. That is, 5 things that you really interested in and then 5 things that you are really good at. They can be sort of abstract or concrete.

You want your business to be related to something that you know really well. For instance, you can review hiking accessories and promote them through affiliate marketing. Or, you could review local hike locations and again market accessories or products. Or, you may find another angle, but the point is this: you are able to speak honestly and intelligently about the topic which gives you credibility which is the foundation of a good online business.

With that said, there are many avenues to explore in online marketing. Make haste slowly when starting out. Continue to ask questions to learn the basics. There really is lots of good advice and opportunities to learn in this forum.

    David:

I'll second the earlier suggestions that you look into hiking as an area of interest and knowledge as a good place to begin. Within hiking, you can provide blog info on hiking clubs, hiking books, hiking clothing and equipment, try to get advertising from stores which sell all of these, etc.

Also, hikers frequently go on multi-day hikes, so you'd want to include info on camping equipment, perhaps B & B's for those who like more comfortable accomodations, travel groups who specialize in hiking.

Additionally, hikers are outdoors people, so you could look into branching into areas like canoeing and kayaking, skiing, rafting, outdoor adventure trips and providers of those trips. Starting in an area which you like and have knowledge is the best way to go.

    Good Luck!
