If you had just purchased this domain, what would you do with it to monetize it? Just looking for ideas. Thanks in advance to anyone who inputs!

If I were you I would stop buying domain names until, I have a plan for them. When I first got into IM I bought about 50 domain names and I used none of them. Pick a niche, formulate a plan, do extensive keyword research and then buy your domain name.

      Absolutely.

I had tons, and still got loads, which I've done nothing with. Just been a waste of money.

It's not always a matter of not knowing what to do with them. More a matter of not having enough time to do everything.

And, if you have no idea what you're going to do with them before you get them, that's a real waste.

Me too, only I bought around 300 and am letting them expire now. I'm cured.

Have to agree with Kirahster on this. I did the same thing a year or so ago. Even got on a roll and bought up a bunch of domain names. Before I had an idea of what I was really going to do with them.

Then I got attached to them, thinking well I could do this or this and...... well I still have them and maybe one day.

I actually let many of them go this year and haven't looked back.

I now plan, revise, test/research, revise and implement.

    Best of luck.

    Real quick....

    Do ANYTHING with it.

Make it live, toss up something related from clickbank....

Just so it's LIVE. Then you can mold it into something else.

It is WAY TO EASY to buy a name, then never work it.

Now, I will take a few hours tomorrow and follow my own advice on 2 domains I have sitting.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

That's a good domain. I apologize for the blatant self-promotion, but the honest answer to your question (what would I do) is that I would set up an affiliate website on it. If you follow the link in my sig, it will take you to a listing I currently have going that will explain exactly what I would do with it. Hey, even if you're not interested in what I'm offering, it's still bound to give you some ideas, so I really do hope you find this helpful.

    Cheers,
    Neil

Become an affiliate of wedding sites or bridal gifts and pump out some good content and start building backlinks. This is a great domain name, the possibilities are endless!

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking you could incorporate wedding registries. A bride could sign up, and select a preset gift registry. She would then submit the emails of all her guests. You would send an auto response to each address, with your affiliate links for each product. The guest buys the product, you drop ship it to the bride.
You could pitch it as a time saver for both - the bride picks a pre-set gift package, and the guests buy from home.

May I ask you what made you buy the domain before you even had a plan on how to monetize it? What was the trigger?

    Jason,

As several folks have pointed out it's a good idea to have a plan for what you are going to do with it, before you buy it. In other words a business plan. Now don't roll your into the back of your head and groan

It doesn't have to be 200 pages long. You can start to gain focus for how to monetize it with a simple outline. Take the suggestions here and list them. Then narrow the list down to the suggestion that really rings your bell.

Now go back and narrow down a sub-niche within the broad niche of "Brides" such as wedding dress, wedding showers, wedding gifts, I'm sure you get the idea on that. Don't try and be all things for everybody.

Take it one step at a time to develop your plan. Focus on each step, get it done and done right then move to the next step. But there is one other thing you will need to do. Have fun with it!

I found it on justdropped.com I'm not "domain crazy" but I can recognize quality when I see it. Especially for 7.49.

I have a rough outline of what I'd like to do with the site. A member graciously sent me some low comp keywords that I will integrate, and I will most likely choose one of those as my micro niche. At this point, quality content will be my focus.

If it is of REAL value to the reader, then I'll get more readers. There is no rush, as my offline efforts have made me extremely financially stable. So I can really focus on this site, and my other big project EasyInstantDiet.com

Thanks to everyone who is contributing here.

        Hey Jason,

Congrats on picking up that domain. Since you want to focus on quality content, why not create a niche authority site and monetize it with adsense & relevant affiliate links (info, CPA & physical)?

You're not 'just another dummy' - I think you're going to do just fine with this project .

I would say: Set it up with lots of keyword relevant articles.

Next, after its indexed, add eBay and Amazon affiliate links.

Then, Backlink the hell out of it.

I would follow the majority of suggestions here already, but add one more.

Once you get enough traffic to sell advertising, you could find some bridal stores that take orders online and ship to the customer. You could get a flat rate for their ads, or commission on what is sold as a result of traffic you send them.

I have done this in several niches, including bridal, and made good money from it. I usually go for the commission basis. 10% - 20% of a bunch of $500 dresses adds us fast.

    HI

First... what made you buy that name...

Did you have an idea for that name and if so why have you not developed it...

Also was the .com available when you got the .net if so why did you not get the .com

always try and get a .com if you can even if you have to get different keywords in the domain... but some times the .com is gone and all you have left is the .net

Also how many domains do you own....?

    Thx
    Tom

    Jason,

I think it is ok to buy without plan when you see catchy and good domain name. I would never pass an opportunity to pick up a good domain name just because I do not have plans for it. With your one question here you get lots of ideas which can be your plan/plans. So I think it is perfectly alright to buy domain without plan particularly domain is like the one you got.

In terms of future development, while you decide what to do throw some banners and ezinearticles on that domain till you finally figure out something substantial for this domain. While you are waiting it will be indexed easily, atleast submit it once to reddit and stumble it.

    I hope this helps.

Find about 10-20 free ebooks and offer them out to build up your list (remember its about a 6 month - 9 month life span if your selling wedding products.) Once you got your list start offering them plans to save money on there weddings, plenty out there. You could do physical products and small wedding pieces like card holders. Find your key words, get the traffic, offer something for free to get a list, sell to that list. Plan is always the same, just the content changes.

Jason, as an offline marketing expert, you should already know how to profit from the domain with local business.

      Jason:

My guess is there is probably a million and one web sites giving advice to brides on every aspect of preparing for marriage.

Why not start a site that focuses on what NOT to do? Or feature bridal plans gone bad. I would look for some angle other than the ordinary and typical bridal stuff that is everywhere.

My feeling is that a site featuring horrific weddings, disasterous results, etc, would be something that would be interesting and fairly unique.

Your new domain name could be set up to re-direct traffic to a domain that more effectively described your wedding disaster site. Or it could be the home of a squeeze page that offered a freebie as a name and email capture. Either way, since you only paid $7+ for the domain, it could be used to drive traffic to your real wedding site.

      Just my ideas . . .
