Would you like a lime with that?

As some of you here may or may not know, I work in a restaurant.
I mainly do functions like showers, parties, rehearsals dinners and the likes.

Today, I was doing a baby shower and they were eating off the brunch buffet menu. This menu calls for a juice bar so I had O.J, water and cranberry juice on the bar that people could take as they please.

I noticed today that NO ONE was taking the cranberry juice.

I hate to waste and I did not want to throw all of this juice down the sink so I decided to do a "little experiment" and I put a thinly sliced piece of lime on the corner of each cranberry juice glass.

I was not too surprised when people started grabbing the cranberry juice instead of the water or the OJ.

I did not change what I was giving to them, I just changed how I was giving it.

This increased conversions and decreased waste.

***Test you offer, make a few changes, repackage.
This may be all you need to start making conversions!

Hey this is a cool story! haha I like how you "classed" up the cranberry juice. Sometimes it just takes a little innovation.

    Cool stuff

Hey Tommy, thanks for the reply.

My "little experiment" today kinda brought about an immense realization in:

"It's not about what you are selling, just how how you are selling it!"

      Hi Kirahster,

That's a great story - thanks for sharing!

I suppose that with the food industry that presentation is just as important as the food itself.

BTW good luck with your full time goal!

And a follow-up thought on that is this: if you take extra special care to selling something of highly perceived AND real value. You won't have to sell as hard

I heard Vicki Kunkel once say that in our present society, we need to stop selling. Think about that

It just goes to show you that a pretty package sells faster and easier than a plain brown bag special ... even if the product is exactly equal

Thank's for the food for thought (no pun intended). But you are right, it is all about the presentation. I think sometimes we get too caught up in what we are doing we tend to forget the simple things like this.
