Saw this on LinkedIn "Companies target tech-savvy seniors

"Older Americans are asserting their dominance in the tech sphere, drawing the attention of companies eager to "cater to their needs." Older people have expanded their tech savvy during the pandemic to shop online, connect on social media, experience VR and more. "Empowered elders" are a top-10 global consumer trend for 2022, according to a Euromonitor report, presenting a lucrative opportunity to companies that can successfully develop products and services for those 50 and older. Wow, I think they are aiming a little too low with their definition of an elder person. Everyone in their 50s has had a computer since they were first available. If the article cited a sharp trend for those aged 70 or more, I'd be more inclined to pay attention.

Too bad they don't break the demographic numbers down more specifically and just as important, what devices they are using. Through casual observation, I've noticed that the most senior people tend to use phones for everything, not laptops or desktop computers.

Agree with the 50 to 60 crowd should not be considered. One of the replies on LinkedIn, went to a article addressing the 60 plus crowd. I highlighted a few things that stuck out. If any one could figure out a niche to target. in the AR/VR market might be able to make a decent income. The gaming or travel my be a way to go ?

" Among people 60 and older, 60% visit social media sites at least once a week, and 21% play video games, Euromonitor found.

      82% own a smartphone.

"Alongside browsing and shopping online, Digital Seniors embrace virtual solutions for socializing, health screenings, finances and learning," according to the report.

A survey by Ericsson's ConsumerLab found that 7 in 10 seniors ages 65-74 were interested in trying out AR/VR headsets, primarily to pursue a skill or hobby, like cooking.

Nursing home residents are using VR headsets for virtual travel experiences.

40% of older people want to use the digital world for "decorating their home virtually, experiencing sports or concerts, upgrading their home maintenance skills or to travel with a headset," Ericsson said in a blog post.
"One in 5 also see other possibilities, like going to a virtual restaurant, trying out sports themselves or playing VR adventure games."

This seems pretty interesting, I haven't yet got the chance to hear about this trend, to be quite honest, but as you presented it here, it really looks like it has some real potentials in targeting this group, but it also requires some effort to find which would be the most suitable niches for this specific audience. I didn't target elder people in my previous campaigns, so I can't tell I have some experiences with it, but the more that I am thinking about it, the more it looks like something that can be monetized if proceeded properly.
