How much do people really make?

by jimewing2121 57 replies
I am wondering if all these people saying that they are making over 100k are lying or if it is very possible to achieve.

Very possible, I know a fella who was raking in 30 mil per year of profit.

It wasn't a one man operation, but he was doing nothing more then affiliate marketing.

I'm not there yet, but can't complain either...

I think this is an interesting thread and hope people won't start bashing you for it (happened
to a fella who started a "How much do you make online" thread)

I've seen these courses in one of the colleges, they touch a bit of everything, but nothing specifically. Will get you a comfortable cubicle job, is what I think...

This place here is the high-school, college and university of internet marketing all in one.

A ton of valuable information is contained within the Private Section as well, some of the stuff being given away for free there just blows my mind. It's a different structure, but well worth the money.

(like the layout of your site btw)

I can honestly say that going to school for IM is very unlikely to significantly impact your efforts here. I'm not saying it wouldn't be valuable for you, and I'm not trying to discourage you from going to school, but as far as practical application to niche marketing, article marketing, or most of the rest of the business going on around here I think you'll be disappointed. You'd be much better served to continue studying here, maybe joining one of the programs that the well-established marketers have going. I've seen a couple of pretty low cost ones lately that are like "follow me while I show you what I'm doing" that seem like a good option for a new marketer.

if you are a newbie, quit sweating out on the make money online niche and target some other niche...choose a business model, be it monetizing your traffic using adsense or affiliate products.
Once you start seeing a few $$$ you'll feel confident as you'll discover it is very easy in internet to scale things up...

Just be patient and don't forget to take action...don't let that aspect of your IM career ever slip. From there make sure you are creating good relationships with people.

I had trouble believing it all at first as well...then I watched my friend Dave launch his product Virtual Smart Agent....265k in less than 25 hrs...it hooked me...and I am now on the same road...to success.

In fact I just shot a video today for my list/students in front of my pool in the backyard ...keep working at it and don't let anybody tell you any different.

if you doubt that you can make it in one day...just look on some of the launches like Traffic Secrets 2.0, Mass Control, Stompernet, Underachiever and the list goes on...those are just the biggest of them...that maybe made several millions in one day.

But like others have said...to make a million dollar income online you need to work in groups...you need to have friends/partners

The best way, in my opinion, to make $100k a year is this...

                  1. Create Your Own Product! - Why? So you get all the profit, you can gain affiliates, and you can create profitable upsells on top of it. This also gives you leverage because your product is unique and you have full control.

                  2. Make at least $50 profit a sale on your product - Why? It's a numbers game really. But at a profit per sale of around $50 a pop, you have to sell LESS products than you would at half the price and the sales add up way faster. I say go for a premium product with lots of info, etc. and price it well.

                  3. Upsell! - Why? More money. Let's say you have a $67 product and on the upsell, you offer a awesome bonus that actually RELATES DIRECTLY to the $67 product for say, $27 an upsell, you just took a $67 sale to close to $100 a sale. Sure, not everyone will bite, but if done properly...I would estimate 30-40% will.

                  4. Go PHYSICAL product and DIGITAL - Why? Buyers like their products in both forms, why not hit 'em with both. The trick here is to charge way more for the physical product, esp. since you have costs to have it created, printed, shipped, etc. Plus, having a physical product gives you the opportunity to sell on places like Ebay or even Amazon if you so choose.

So $50 per sale equals 2000 sales in one year to reach $100,000. This is not even counting any upsells and or affiliate sales you could earn on the backend of related products you can promote via autoresponder if you get their email addresses. If you combine all of those, you can do $100k a year. But first, you have to take ACTION.

              Hi,

I know how you feel I was the same when I started, however this forum is far better than any college or school.

Just take one thing whatever it may be and keep on going!

Whether you are doing article marketing, Adwords, adsense, clickbank products etc... you will get better results by just carriying on asking questions and keeping going!

              Hope this helps!

              Put it this way,

If the teachers knew how to make $100k per year Online..

Would they be teaching for 1/2 of that?

Some do, but most do not..

If it's the thread I'm thinking about, he deserved to be bashed. Its nothing to do with other people how much I or anyone else earn online. My online income is between me, my accountant and the taxman, I don't need to post proof of what I earn.

However the OP wasn't asking that, he asked if it was true people were making over 100k. (different question altogether)

      And yes extremely doable

Somewhere around 11 yrs ago, I was in a forum where this was being discussed and someone said they had made $12,000 that month and it wasn't quite over yet.

Nobody believed him and he actually posted screenshots and had it backed up by the vendors who frequented the forum and were paying him.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I probably wouldn't have believed it and I'm eternally grateful to him that he did because it was motivation of the highest caliber for me.

Another very successful webmaster of that time said "success leaves a trail, just follow the breadcrumbs". Not sure if those were his own words or something he'd heard before but it was true then and it's true now.

          For sure.

The way it works with most people is that the moment you start talking dollars, you're either a liar or they're making more.

That's one pi$$ing contest with a perpetual headwind.

Hell just think how much this forum brings in with the WSO's etc. 100k I think is very possible if you really work it like a business and not a hobby. Its like another other skill out their than that you have to learn the trade. Once you master it then you will be on your way of making the 100k a year.

Look at Amy that makes around 5k a month blogging. If she wanted she could start outsourcing the posts and start creating even more. Anything is possible and you just have to keep it growing and putting your money back into your company.

If it gets big enough then you start to hire full time employees.

      I respectfully agree and disagree

the beauty of working online is.. the overheads are just peanuts compared to offline businesses..

Even outsourcing a LOT, the overheads are incredibly low..

My accountant has been glowing over my P and L's over the years, he gives me rough examples of his other large clients, and there is just no comparison between my profits and theirs.. compared to their expenses..

Oh yes, this is something which I always suspect! Since they are using PPC!! My, PPC is not my cup of tea but I do know that there are experts who do well in that. Article marketing and blogging are more suitable for me.

Actually, in this business, what matters most is working on a system that works, refine it, and grow it in proportions. To quote a simple example, if you are using article marketing, just this technique alone will get you tons of traffic for you to build your list and make sales. When you master the technique, hire your writers to do according to your requirements. At the end of the day, it is a Numbers Game!

The problem is most people get distracted without going through the grinding process. My advice is to focus on one method, one system and once you get it to work for you, refine and finally outsource most of the work before you get onto another method.

Yes, of course some people are making over $100K per year.

      But loads are not.

It's no different from the offline world - some people make a lot of money, but many don't.

The Internet isn't some kind of magic money-making machine. It's simply a platform where you can market, sell and support your goods and services.

It's down to the individual to make it happen - online or off.

      Cheers,

With the product launch craze becoming commonplace during the last few years, not only is $100,000 a year attainable, but so is $100K in a day!

And honestly, I don't think it's that unattainable either. I'm not saying it's anywhere close to easy, but it can definitely be done if you have the will power and drive.

With a meager list of 5000 people, or a few partners, and a product that delivers on a massive need with a big enough commission you can get to the 100K mark in a day. Heck, Mind Movies did it the other day and they only had a $97 product. They did have a load of JV partners though.

Of course it takes a really well oiled campaign, but it's surely more then doable.

But then again I'm spoiled getting to sit next to Frank and watch him orchestrate his madness, so it's not so abnormal to me.

100K in a year. You can definitely do it!

You make money online by trying and implementing, most of the ideas and projects may go sour, but one thing will eventually have success and you need to learn from all your mistakes and success and continue doing what works.

This is not an overnight success deal, you have to work hard and go after your ream and try to take action and implement, if one project fails, go to the next one, don't quit.

Making $100k a year is only $8,333 per month. That's only 10 sales per day of a $29 product.

I'm shocked that there are still those who think people are lying about doing $100k a year. With many people doing that in a month, I don't think $100k is anything to brag about in the IM niche.

Personally I eclipsed that mark back in 2003-2004.

        You know what? ...

Now that I think about it, screw 100K, is it possible to make 89K? That would solve a lot of my problems.

I think the value here for newbies(and I still count myself amongst this group) is provided by posts like the one by Ron Douglas and Dayne's above.

100k seems like tis big unachivable number when you are still at 0. The trick is to break it down. 100,000/365=$274 per day. So there's your new question - is it possible to make $274 in a single day.

Now I haven't been making 100k per year yet, but I have had days where I have made well over $300 so I know that 100k/year is not just possible - but possible FOR ME!

If you haven't had the $300 days yet then you break it down further. Suppose you want to spend 8 hours working a day(forget holidays and stuff for the sake of simplicity). 300/8=$37.50/hour, or if everything is on autopilot you have 24 hours. 300/24=$12.50/hour.

So - new question, can you make $12.50 an hour on autopilot?

So I would say about 97% of everyone that has replied has said yes it is possible. I want to know how all of you are making around that or know other that are making around 100k. What are you doing that I am not? I write articles, anchor links on other pages, digg, facebook, myspace, youtube, and still not one sale. I dont get it.

Thats a huge generalization which is not true.

While unsuccessful people teach, so do successful people ( i wouldn't get a coach that didnt prove him/herself in a niche).

Also, those that are very successful, will have time to coach because they have employees or outsource everything.

An example would be one of my friends who does consulting for real estate investors. He makes passive income from real estate and makesmoney from private lending. His coaching on the side he gets paid well for, but he also funnels these students into his private lending company as customers as well.

Dwayne summed it up pretty well

What exactly are you selling, Personally I think its important to have your own products out there.

You also need to brand yourself!

Think about it this way, if your best day was $100, start by thinking: "How can I replicate this each and every day?" That's 36K/year. Once you do that, I'm pretty sure you will be getting a few $275+ days anyway. Then, you are well on your way to making 100K/year.

Selling online is easy. It is. Once you get your first sale, you will think: "Wow, that was easy, things are starting to go my way." Once you start getting one to a few sales a day, then you will really be cooking with gasoline!

Good luck to all who have yet to make a sale.
        It can be done.
        Hang in there!

You can do that all day long and still see nothing.

          Why?

Because making money comes down to TRANSACTIONS.

Sales. And you get sales by selling to people. You sell to people who "arrive" at your business. And the more targeted traffic you draw, the more you sales you process.

If you're not selling what people want to buy, or if people don't want to buy from YOU - then you won't see sales.

          Very simple equation.

Read what Ron Douglas, Big Mike and Dylan have said.

          Sure, $100k is possible.

But not if you can't grasp the non-mystical reality of how it happens. Traffic and sales. That's it.

Okay, can we just take what the OP wrote literally and let this thread die please.

NO... All of them are NOT lying. Of course, the Internet is huge, so some are lying for sure. "Fake it till you make it." wannabes.

Of course, you really don't specify the Internet or Internet Marketing in general, so... Donald Trump isn't lying (about that, anyway), Bill Gates isn't lying, Steve Jobs isn't lying, etc, etc.

Also, you don't specify time frame... so, the people working at McDonald's for 5 - 6 years (while getting regular promotions and raises) aren't lying either.

Okay, because you posted this here at the WF, now I will just assume you are talking about Internet Marketing and Making Money Online and the time frame is 1 year...

Yes, it is possible. Very possible? ... Depends on you.

My best advice... be a little more clear and concise with your posts in the future and ... get away from this thread and start doing something to make it happen.

I am really surprised at how many responses there were to so little direct information, but... whatever. :p

    Break it down:

    $100k a year is $274 a day.

    That's 10 ebooks sold at $27 a day.

    Sounds impossible?

I refuse to believe it's not possible, I've made $31.99 today with one ppc campaign and I've been doing PPC for less than 2 months. 10 more campaigns like this? Doesn't sound too tricky to me! I hope

Definitely possible. I'm not in the 100k range at all yet, but once you start earning a little money consistently, you start to really understand the possibilities.

Just shoot for a simple $33 a day ($1000 a month), and once you reach that you will realize 100k is not as daunting as it first seemed.

      definitely possible

      In my opinion...

the hardest part is making your first money...$50/day.... $100/day...$200/day...whatever

however small... just start making money online... that is the hardest part (in my opinion)

once you do... it becomes very REAL...

and then you look around and realize the internet is wide open for you to scale and multiply your earnings

the thing is... you gotta *believe*

sure there's a lot of phoney baloney scammers out there... but there's also plenty of people who....when you watch their videos... it's clear within 5 minutes to any intelligent person that they are 100% solid

Don't be insulted by this... but from meeting tons of different people... i've discovered that people that are always apprehensive about trusting others... are usually apprehensive about trusting themselves... it's easier to question everything than embrace it and possibly...fail

Personally, I never thought "I wonder if it's true"... I always knew it was....

I just had to figure out the how.

figure that out and then take action with complete faith... 100k is small time compared to what's possible... remember this isn't about trading time for money...it's about combining the power of your mind and the internet to make as much money as YOU believe is possible

There are definitely people out there making 100k per year (the minority) and some making 10 million per year (the extremely small minority!). The important thing to remember that this all takes time and there is no "quick and easy" money to be made online - build a solid business and you'll see results.

I can't even believe there is a debate about this.

Of COURSE you can make $100K. You could make $100K just doing WSO's.

When you start thinking of money in different terms is when it will come to you.

Most people have the limiting belief that money is tough to get. So what do you think happens? They don't make any.

And as for $100k in a day, does no one remember Reese's $1Mil day, and all those others that followed him?

You won't see that kind of success in your first 30-days though. I don't care who you are.

You have to keep at it, and identify what's REALLY holding you back by taking a long, objective look at every aspect of what you are doing.
