Copyscape alternative?

Is there a way to check articles for uniqueness before they are online?

I know on Copyscape you paste the URL of the article to check it.

Is there somewhere you can paste your article and it will check to see if it is found anywhere online?

    Thanks, Tina and Waken!

I'll run these articles through all three suggestions just to make sure they are unique.

Another fast way to check if a similar article has been published is to look for a unique phrase or line in the article and copy/paste that line into the Google search box in quotes and see what comes up.

I use this method frequently and it is quite telling. It's not the end-all, but it is effective to some degree. And it's fast and free.

I second the vote for Plagium.com and used to really like ArticleChecker.com

ArticleChecker doesn't always work though. It seems like the script only works part of the time and displays "0 -Results" when there should be results. When it works though, it works great and will find the dupes.

If you google "plagiarism checker" you will get a bunch of them.

...You can also use Google itself. It does a very good job. With Caffeine I expect it to do an even better job.

Can anyone recommend a batch search copyscape alternative? Something reasonably priced? I tried uncover, but since it doesn't allow you to exclude any part of your site (which adds thousands of useless pages in my case), I couldn't make it work.

As a free alternative there's no option better than Bill's tip of pasting the phrase into google. In all other cases Copyscape is the best hands down and hardly expensive if you just use it for checking individual articles.

Articlechecker and Duplichecker are both free, but I have the premium account with Copyscape. I can paste the body of an article in there and it is only 5 cents for it to do the check. A ten dollar deposit goes a long way, and gives me peace of mind.

Yep, I second that. Copyscape premium account works best for me. Besides for some reason it seems to give clients peace of mind.

Cheapest way to check if a similar article has been published is to look for a phrase or line in the article and copy it and paste it in google. You will get some useful results. It is the cheapest method as it is free of cost. It is certainly not very powerful but it can be worked with for a time being.

I want to check user submitted articles for a private blog network before they are posted. This means I need to check thousands of posts a week at a minimum. This makes pay per search too expensive, anyone know of a 'check as often as you like' monthly membership service etc.? Suggestions will be awesome!

Why isn't Google-checking powerful? That would be the place to do it, right?
Just a thought: If anyone writes sales pages say, or anything they especially don't want others stealing, they could set up Google Alerts for sentences of the text. Whenever something new (and copied) is indexed, you'll know immediately.
