Ways to Promote Offline Business with Video??

I'm thinking of different ways a retail business (offline) can use an information video promoting their services to market themselves. Here's what I've got so far:
1. Give out physical CDs/DVDs to customers
2. Upload videos to video sharing sites.
3. Distribute videos to business networking clubs
4. Give out videos at trade shows

Any other ideas?

Thanks

    Hi,

Personally I think the creation of custom CD'S or DVD's it's not worth the investment. Why people should view them? What's in it for them? Not sure what's the idea.

Maybe you can create a funny/viral video using local theater students OR a bunch of friends/Company workers + a non expensive camera, upload to Youtube and promote.

Next drop some flyers around the city or get some newspaper AD creating Buzz.

    Locally can make wonders...

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

It depends on the business and how the video is shot, production values. It would make more sense for some kinds businesses than others, eg a business that offers pricey services (eg spas/salons). There is an array of potential uses for a video to bring forth desirable results that would more than compensate for the initial investment. Price really depends on production and access to resources (I have great access, myself, so can produce professional videos at a fraction of the usual cost).

It can help win the confidence of a prospective client (or repeat client exploring other services), and give a visual representation of the services offered. When a target market is seeking information on a specific product or service, an informative video on YouTube offering relevant information has a good chance of prominently appearing in search engine results.

Depending on the type of business, you could do a weekly/monthly seminar/tip/product-review type video and distribute to the video sites to gather a following.

EX: Featured wine of the week for a wine shop. Record the tasting, vineyard info...etc.

      Found this today:

      Biz Glimpz

      Check out their samples, lol.

      Have a great day.

Oh, btw, they are hiring in greater L.A. area. You need to cold-call, sell it, design it and you get paid a 50% commission.

I can't imagine why someone would ever work for them as a salesperson/videographer... That's a lot of work for roughly $350...

Here's their "sales" page for the position, not quite sure how big of a territory they cover:

          Biz Glimpz - BizGlimpz.com

Seems like all sites are almost identical so you probably design it in a wysiwyg kind of a program.

Yeah, I've seen them advertising on Craigslist in Portland, Chicago, etc. It's a great deal for them... I don't really see what they bring to the table if the sales rep is bringing the business in, doing the video, editing, etc. Crazy!

Thanks for the heads-up, vikuna2009+. Who's hiring for what? (I'm in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with great access -- studio, production facilities, director, cinematographer, crew, talent, state-of-the-art editing facilities -- and gigs lined up, so I'm not sure it applies to me.)

Didn't think so but they ARE part of your competition, lol. However, if you can do a better job, all the better for you. Honestly, I did not even waste my time to see if they were keyword optimized (probably not).

I certainly wouldn't dismiss them. They might well have some great talent on their stable (hello, Bollywood). I wasn't seeing them as my competition, but I guess they are competition of sorts for one of the services I offer businesses.

I didn't start this thread to toot my horn. I apologize if I'm coming across that way. To compensate for that, and contribute something, here's a video-marketing mind-map I've created, using Frank Bruno's mind-map software, offered in one of his WSOs (Software is great, but my mind-map doesn't do it justice. I'm very new to creating mind-maps. In fact, this is my first). Feel free to use it any way you please, if you so wish:

When business owners see this kind of chart, they say, "No mas! Do it for me."

Its not the video that is important but the educational and entertainment value that makes it useful.

Blendtek is probably the best model for you to have a look at

Get video testimonials of customers and use them:

      # On their site to help convert prospects into paying customers.

      # Have a written transcript of each video on the website (great SEO).

      # And on sites like YouTube to create search engine traffic to the website (link to the site from the YouTube video.

A business can get a steady stream of video testimonials and that can mean a whole pile of content added to a website and a whole pile of videos pointing from video sites to the business's web site.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

The mind-map image file will not be showing up for a while. The server will be down until tomorrow (out of my control). I'll put it up somewhere else later.

There are a ton of ways to do it -

Testimonials on the webiste, a looping video on DVD when people come in, an informative video to send to your customers, etc.

Plus video has a higher perceived value than a written report, etc.
